LONDON HUMANIST CHOIR ONE LIFE 2026
The **London Humanist Choir** plus three great comedians offer a crazy night of choral hits and comedy badinage for the absurd entry fee of £10, or just £8 in advance from
[https://humanists.uk/events/onelife2026/](https://humanists.uk/events/onelife2026/)
We're the only specifically Humanist Choir in the Universe: well, London, anyway, and we're part of Humanists UK, a charity devoting to making our lives happier and more fun. This is something we've taken to heart. We're singing foot tapping hits and some pieces which are, well, just beautiful.
Our comedians will make you laugh, and make you think. It's going to be a great evening for the price of a pint. Come along and bring your friends.
[Clarence Hall](https://maps.app.goo.gl/zCj2PQ61y21v92Dc8), off Hawley Road, Camden: a stone's throw from Camden Road and Camden Town stations:
There's a bar. Doors open at 6.40pm.
Forest Gayte Pride 2026 [other host]
Forest Gayte Pride is a grassroots Pride in Newham, with stalls, entertainment, speakers, and other events from Friday to Sunday (but no parade).
Its grown from 1 market stall & queer pub night in 2017, then a 2019 parade; though the primary aim is still giving a voice to LGBTQIA+ Newham residents; events and education, a platform for the community to express themselves in a safer, inclusive space, during pride and beyond; and educating the local community on queer issues. The previous organisers stepped down so a new committee will be running it for this 10th year.
We don't have a stall this year, choosing to participate more in Southwark Pride on the same day instead - get in touch to help host one for next year. The regular Saturday Market continues as normal around the Pride stalls so there is food, drink, and other items available from them.
⚫ Events Overview:
FG Pride are working with their favourite local venues and some of East London’s most influential Queers to bring a celebration of LGBTQIA+ Culture to Newham once more. Check the website for latest updates. There are also fundraising events in the run up, see their [Eventbrite events list](https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/forest-gayte-pride-33691105349#events) for all details.
(a map and list for Saturday's events at [forestgaytepride.com/virtualmap](https://forestgaytepride.com/virtualmap))
There is a Gala opening event on Friday (keynote speech, panel talk/discussion) followed by drinks at the Forest Tavern, stalls and music/speeches on Saturday at Woodgrange Market, and some quieter events/pub hanging out on Sunday at the Forest Gate Community Garden.
Saturday, 10am-4pm: Community Hub (stalls) + Entertainment, crafts and Henna, origami, acts and speakers from noon (and a DJ in between speeches)
— Woodgrange Market Place, on the A114 road.
The Community Gardens will be open if you need a space away from the bustle for a while.
\- Main Evening Event at Forest Tavern\, 7pm til 1am\.
\- Sunday afternoon at ????
\- Sunday afternoon 1\-4pm at the Community Garden\, Earlham Grove\.
⚫ Help Out:
We weren't able to find people to make a stall happen on the Saturday. A stall is a great way to meet a load of people, conversation ice-breakers ready to go; hang out with other bi/lgbt organisers+activists with experience, help our community.
They also need volunteer help for the whole festival (setup starts from 8am on Saturday but doesn't have to be then, Fri/Sun also wanted) — and maybe make new LGBTQ+ friends in the area too: via this form [https://forestgaytepride.com/volunteer-](https://forestgaytepride.com/volunteer-)
⚫ Accessibility:
• Woodgrange Market (for the Hub): recently refurbished, fully wheelchair accessible (https://www.facebook.com/woodgrangemkte7/).
• [Forest Gate Station](https://tfl.gov.uk/tflrail/stop/910GFRSTGT/forest-gate-rail-station?lineId=tfl-rail): across the road from the Hub. Renovated as part of TfL/Queen Elizabeth Line updates to include a lift and fully accessible trains
• No bar at the Marketplace itself (though not a designated Sober space)
• Nearest Quiet Zone: 200 yards away at the Community Garden
• Forest Gayte Pride pledged for **all of their events to be fully accessible**, including the Hub (ask if more questions)

Hampstead Heath Spiritual Gathering & Walk
Our 45th Spiritual Creatives gathering - in person!
Come and join us for a lovely walk and talk around Hampstead Heath.
We are meeting just outside Hampstead Heath station (London Overground train) at 11.00 on Sunday the 28th of June.
Please note: This is NOT Hampstead Station on the Northern Line! It is the Hampstead HEATH station. The Google link is here:
We will wait for people to arrive until 11.15am and then we will begin walking. If you arrive later, you will only be able to catch up with us at Kenwood House approximately between 12 and 12.30pm. You should be able to find us sitting around as a group having a drink. If the weather permits, you'll find us outside the main café, towards the back. Look for the guy with the multicoloured scarf... that's me!
After a short break of 20-30 minutes, we then walk back through the Heath, taking the long way round to Parliament Hill, and conclude our stroll back to Hampstead Heath overground station around 2 to 2.30pm.
(Please note that you may become so involved in your conversations that you end up losing sight of the main group! Unfortunately, there is no way for you to catch up with us once we have become separated (and we do NOT check our phones for texts or messages during our walk) so please be mindful and conscious to stay with the main group if you want to keep up. Also please bear in mind that Hampstead Heath can be muddy sometimes, so please wear the appropriate shoes).
After returning to Hampstead Heath Overground station, many of our (usually hungry) members like to continue the camaraderie over lunch at one of the local cafés or restaurants. As our group has grown over the years, these gatherings can be quite large, so we usually have to split into smaller parties and explore different venues. Some of our favourite spots are Dominique’s Café (dominiquescafe.co.uk) and Silverberries (silverberry.net), both of which offer a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food. It’s a great way to wind down the walk and continue our conversations.
Spiritual Creatives is a warm-hearted and popular meetup group, as you can see from our ratings and comments!
We hope to meet you then! :-)
Best wishes
Cliff

Cherokee Double Wall Basket Weaving Workshop - Newark Earthworks - $140, 9a-1p
This workshop offers more than a class—it is a hands-on cultural experience rooted in patience, precision, and ancestral knowledge.
Learn the fundamentals of Cherokee double-wall basket construction, a technique known for its strength, balance, and visual depth. This style creates two walls woven simultaneously, resulting in a seamless, durable basket that holds both function and story. Each kit thoughtfully includes pre-soaked and hand-dyed reed, core weaving materials, and guidance through every step of the process. You’ll learn proper starts, shaping, tension control, and how the inner and outer walls work together as one structure.
Designed to be accessible for beginners and deeply satisfying for experienced weavers, this workshop emphasizes respect for materials, intentional making, and the rhythm of the hands. With proper supervision, older children and teens may participate, making this an excellent intergenerational learning experience.
***PLEASE NOTE: There are two sessions. A morning session from 9 a.m.—1 p.m. & 2—6 p.m. Click the registration link and select one class.**
* A**ddress:** Octagon Earthworks, 125 N. 33rd St., Newark, OH 43055 - UNESCO World Heritage Site

* A**dmission :** Ohio History Connection Members - $130, Nonmembers - $140

• Encourages mindfulness, focus, and problem-solving
• A meaningful alternative to mass-produced crafts
• Each basket is completely one-of-a-kind
• Ideal for cultural education, art practice, and heirloom making
Whether you’re reconnecting with tradition, learning a new skill, or creating something meant to last, this workshop is an invitation to slow down, weave with intention, and carry knowledge forward—one row at a time.
This workshop is led by Renata Cauthon, a Cherokee artist and enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation, and one of the few IACB-listed Cherokee artists in Ohio.
Beginning her professional art career in 2023, Renata has participated in several exhibitions across the country, including juried art shows. Her work is featured in her tribe’s official gift shop as well as several museum shops, blending traditional Cherokee design with contemporary storytelling to explore identity, resilience, and cultural continuity.
The 2025 Reach Indigenous Advocacy Indigenous Advocate of the Year has worked tirelessly to provide access to Cherokee culture in Ohio through partnerships like her work with Fort Ancient Earthworks & Nature Preserve — part of the UNESCO-listed Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks.
Since 2024, Renata has led hands-on workshops at Fort Ancient, giving visitors the opportunity to experience Cherokee traditions as living, evolving practices. She is honored to share Cherokee cultural knowledge, inspire understanding of Ohio’s Indigenous history, and invite visitors to explore and engage with her art.
