Being here now (explore local hidden alleys - part 2)
Being here now (explore local hidden alleys - part 2)
Let's meet at a charming little alley near Beauty World MRT that has a couple of ice cream shops, cafés, a giant rooster, a cat, and a book exchange box. We'll walk around and try some inexpensive (under $5) coffee and desserts. In our meetups, we often talk about hopping on trains and planes to faraway places. Do you have a favourite spot that's just a short walk away? Maybe it's a quiet café, a park bench, or a back alley that nobody else thinks about much. Tell us about your favourite hiding place in Singapore.
🏓 Ladder Match Chaos - [3 Hours]! 🌅🎉 (Havelock)
🏓 Ladder Match Chaos - [3 Hours]! 🌅🎉 (Havelock)
### Pickleball Sunset Ladder Mixer! 🏓🌇 An evening of dinks, (drinks after maybe), and a ladder format designed to expose your ego in public. 📍 Location: 317 Outram Rd, Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium, Singapore 169075 🕓 Time: 4PM to 7PM 💵 Cost: $25 per person ($5 paddle rental if you don’t have your own trusty weapon) Early bird: $20 (excluding paddle) if you confirm with payment at least 5 days before the event Lock in your spot (payment = confirmed, no payment = vibes only): 📲 Early Price: [https://hitpay.link/bpufbo](https://hitpay.link/bpufbo) 📲 Normal Price: [https://hitpay.link/gy1dej](https://hitpay.link/gy1dej) ✅ If you usually pay cash, no worries, just continue with that. ⚠️ Cancellation Policy Please give at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations to receive a refund. No refunds for no-shows or cancellations within 24 hours, unless the whole event is rained out. ### ## 🪜 What’s the Plan: Rookie → King’s Court Ladder This is a ladder mixer. Everyone starts humble. Nobody starts as a “king” (yes, even you). Courts: Rookie Court: your spawn point King’s Court: final boss arena ### 🎮 How it Works 1. Start at Rookie Court 2. Win a game = you upgrade to King’s Court 3. Lose at any point = back to Rookie Court (character development arc) 4. On King’s Court: max 3 wins After 3 wins, you restart at Rookie Court again (so you don’t camp and become a court landlord) ### 🌀 Paddle Queue System All courts run on paddle queue. Put your paddle in the box/line for the court you’re queuing for. Rotate in when it’s your turn. No cutting, no politics, no “I know the coach”. ### 🧮 Scoring + Timing Scoring: First to 15, rally scoring (no serving maths, we’re here to play not do accounting) Timing: Each match capped at 15 minutes so everyone gets runs ### 🏆 Official Tournament Balls Franklin X-40 for all games. ### 👑 Ladder Champions + Prize We’ll track King’s Court streaks and crown the Ladder Champions. Small token prize included (mainly for bragging rights + group chat supremacy). May the champions rise. May the excuses be creative. ### 📌 Rules of the Game Switch it up: new partner, new opponents after each match Be nice: friendly competition, not SEA Games Call lines fairly, replay if messy, keep it moving *** ## Why You’ll Love It Fast rotations, lots of games Meet a bunch of kakis without awkward small talk You get the dopamine of “ranked mode” without downloading anything *** ## What to Bring Your paddle (or rent one) Water bottle, don’t faint halfway Your best “aiyah nvm” attitude when the ball goes sideways A ready-made excuse for when you get sent back to Rookie Court 🔔 Friendly Reminder Pickleball is a social and physical activity, please be mindful of your own safety and physical limits. Participation is at your own risk. Stay hydrated, warm up properly, and rest if you need to. 🎟️ RSVP Now — Spaces Are Limited!

Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all types of work welcome)
Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all types of work welcome)
Event location change: Monk's Brew Club Bring extension cords if you have! Hey everyone! We organising a co-working + socialising session for all of us who like to work on something (e.g. our own project, freelance or remote work) but feel working alone at home can get a bit lonely :-) To ensure that we have both socialising AND working, we will be using the so called “Pomodoro” technique: **50min of deep work** (silent), followed by **10min of break** to socialise. Then repeat, we typically do up to 3 rounds. It’s an effective way to stay focused - you can read more about it [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique). Anyone from any background is welcome, whatever project you are working on or whatever is your personal background. ——————————————————- AGENDA: * **15min Intro (please come on time)** Get to know everyone, talk about what you will work on today * **Pomodoro Session** \- 3x \(3h\) Each Pomodoro session consists of 50min of uninterrupted “deep work” (no talking, no interruptions, no phones) -> then 10min of break: share your progress with others, talk about what you are stuck on etc. -> Repeat * **Wrap Up and dinner (optional)** Share your progress, socialise and get to know others 😊 ———— Location is Monk’s Brew Club (57 East Coast Road, Singapore 428773). We have booked a separate room with multiple tables at the 2nd floor of the cafe, just walk all the way through to the back when you walk in, or ask the barista. Wifi + power plugs are there but best to bring a fully charged laptop and extension cords, just in case 🙃 You DO NOT have to pay anything, but since we are using the café space, it would be common courtesy to buy at least one drink. Please remember to release your RSVP in case you are not able to make it for the people on the waitlist and looking forward to seeing you there! :) Note: RSVP-ing and then no show will result in penalties: 1 No show = warning 2 No shows = de-prioritized for those in waitlist 3 No shows = blocked from future events Cheers Vicente

Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit - Barret Blake
Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit - Barret Blake
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** *Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit: From Intent to Implementation* Spec-driven development flips the traditional workflow on its head: instead of code being the source of truth, the specification becomes the backbone of design, collaboration, and delivery. In this session, we’ll explore how GitHub Spec-Kit enables teams to treat specifications as first-class artifacts—living documents that drive architecture, implementation, and verification. You’ll learn how Spec-Kit helps teams clearly express intent using structured, version-controlled specs that live alongside code. We’ll walk through a practical workflow that starts with defining system behavior and constraints, then progressively refines those specs into testable, automatable outcomes. Along the way, we’ll show how specs can reduce ambiguity, improve cross-functional collaboration, and make design decisions explicit before a single line of production code is written. This talk will cover: --What spec-driven development is (and what it isn’t) --How GitHub Spec-Kit fits into modern developer workflows --Using specs to align product, engineering, and AI-assisted development --Real-world examples of turning specs into implementations with confidence Whether you’re building greenfield systems, integrating AI into your stack, or trying to reduce costly rework, spec-driven development offers a scalable way to move faster without sacrificing clarity. Attendees will leave with concrete patterns and a clear mental model for adopting GitHub Spec-Kit in their own projects. **YouTube Link** TBA
