L'Hôtel de Beauvais, cour administrative d'appel de Paris
**Visit one of the Marais's most historical mansions**
Hotel de Beauvais holds its name from **Catherine de Beauvais**, lady in waiting to the Queen in the 1640's. Nicknamed "One-eye Cathy", she happened to give young **Louis XIV**, his first lessons in bed. The mansion is a sign of the king's gratitude.
As a Bavarian Embassy, the building also saw young **Mozart** stay there when he came to Paris at the end of the 18th century, before one of Paris' most notorious gambling place settled there. After the French Revolution, like many Marais mansions, the **Hotel de Beauvais** was stripped from its outstanding decors and parted into numerous flats and small factories.
The yard of honor has now been restored and shows a **sumptuous decor** as well as an original and rare layout, due to the lack of space. The visit will also highlight the 13th century **Gothic vaulted cellars** and a **superb elliptic staircase** at the back of the courtyard.
The building, has retained **the beautiful staircase of honor** from the 17th century, used by so many famous guests. It now takes people and visitors to the modern rooms of the **City of Paris administrative court of appeal**.
Walk in English 25€/person. Includes entry ticket and right of speech.
For years, wood artisans have thrived around the Faubourg Saint Antoine, outside of Bastille square. This tradition, along with furniture stores was still overwhelming until the end of the last century.
Slowly, the workshops and manufactories give way to private lofts, bars and startups. Behind the opera, clubs and restaurants swarm, vibrant outposts of one of Paris's favorite night district.
Despite the rents rise year after year, and most of the wood related shops have closed down or moved away, the neighborhood is full of beautiful and little known back alleyways and leafy private yards, where the sound of wood work can still be heard. In one of them, a meeting is planned with one of the last wood craftsmen in his amazing workshop.

3 galeries d'art

Prix libre. Suggéré : 10€.
(en)
Lost of merchandise used to be transported on Canal de l'Ourcq and that's how several industrial buildings were created nearby. Our walk, next to and close by the canal, will let us discover some of these buildings that used to be used by industrial companies and now host art exhibitions.
Lots of things to see and places with a rich past, so lots of reasons to come.
We'll start in front of the Pantin RER station and we'll end not far from the Raymond Queneau metro station (L5).
It should take us 3 hours. Pay as you feel. I suggest 10€.

The Listening Room — First Gathering
**The Listening Room — First Gathering**
So much of life happens in loud spaces and quick conversations that never quite go beneath the surface. The Listening Room is meant to be the opposite of that — a quieter space where people can slow down, talk honestly, and actually listen to one another.
For this first gathering, we’ll meet in a small group and explore a simple conversation prompt together. The goal isn’t debate or performance — just thoughtful conversation and the chance to connect with others in a genuine way.
Our prompt for this gathering will be:
**When have you felt truly seen or understood by another person?**
Everyone will have the opportunity to share if they’d like, but there’s absolutely no pressure — listening is just as valuable as speaking here.
We’re keeping the group intentionally small so the conversation can feel relaxed and natural.
Looking forward to meeting you.
— Benny
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for March is "Our Bodies, Ourselves"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
