Petersfield to Liphook - Hampshire's delights
**SUMMARY (all info is approximate!)**
**Distance**: 21km (13 miles)
**Duration**: 6-7 hours walking
**Grade**: Moderate
**HIGHLIGHTS**
* great views from Shoulder of Mutton Hill
* forests coming into bloom
* bluebells, spring flowers
* forlorn paths
* weird and wonderful moreland on Longmore Common
* Sussex Border Path & budding rhododendrons,
* country pubs for refreshments.
We'll start our walk in Petersfield and head north to follow part of the 34 km (21 mile) Hangers Way - a long distance path less travelled within an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The countryside around here is unspoilt and forlorn, and we'll meet only a few locals out for a walk with their dogs. In our first hour, we will be rewarded with fantastic views from Shoulder of Mutton Hill as we continue through forested slopes and over open fields towards Liss and then onto Liphook via a nice lunchtime pub stop (for drinks only).
After Liss, we will walk down Shipwrights Way to Longmore and Weavers Down, an army managed access land which is eerily remote and wild with a range of different flora, shrubs and trees. We will then walk on the Sussex Border Path and continue to Liphook, where we will reward ourselves with a pub stop.
This will be English countryside in its quintessential beauty and at its best – with budding wild flowers and maybe some wild rhododendrons - as well experiencing Longmore Common which feels like walking over Scottish moreland.

Language Of Leadership - Applied Debate Workshop
**No one communication style works with all people. This Workshop will help you to develop your ability to communicate in a number of styles.**
On the face of it, a leadership is about inspiring others to follow in your vision. To go above and beyond in the name of your objective, however leadership is more about effectively communicating ideas in the simplest and most effective way possible. This can be difficult to do as we all have something unique which makes us tick, whether it's facts & statistics, competition, shared goals or cooperative decision making.
This workshop will focus on identifying the key drivers that motivate a team and how to present information effectively based on which driver motivates an individual the most.
Sarah Pautsch Debate London's Career Coach takes us through how to use a suite of debate skills to:
* Understand and identify which key driver motivates an individual and team.
* Effectively communicate the same idea in different forms using a range of different styles.
* Develop the skills to manage personalities you would naturally clash with and develop practical methods to bring them into your vision.
You will also learn by doing through a simulated leadership scenario in which you will have to work with others to secure collective agreement while achieving your own unique objective.
**Venue**
Food and drink is available for order at the venue. There is a 15 minute drinks break and a 30 minute lunch break included in the running time.
**Please do not bring external food or drink into the premises you will be asked to throw it away.**
**Meet Your Coach:**
Sarah is a qualified HR Professional working within HR & Learning & Development for a decade. Sarah has worked in education, non-profit, life sciences Cell and Gene Therapy Pharmaceutical industries. Specialising in recruitment, coaching and employment law. Sarah regularly advises senior leaders on business strategic focuses and future planning. **🚀 WHAT HAPPENS AT OUR MEETUPS? 🚀**
Your friendly game leader will explain the rules and hand out your numbered vests, then we'll play some games! Games last 10 minutes, with about 5 minutes of social time in-between to laugh about who saw who and who didn’t! At the end of the meetup we get food and hang out until the owls are hooting
**⚡ HOW DOES THE GAME WORK? ⚡**
Every player wears a vest with a number on the front and back. Players open the PlayCulture App ([playculture.com/app](https://www.playculture.com/app)) and if you spot another player, put their number into the App. You can also tag zones for extra points. At the end you will see a leaderboard showing everyone’s scores
**🎈 CAN I BRING MY FRIEND? 🎈**
Absolutely! If you want you can stick together and play as a ninja team! Just select extra tickets if you are bringing someone with you
**🥾 WHAT TO BRING** 🌊
\- Smartphone with mobile data\, fully charged battery and PlayCulture App installed \([playculture.com/app](https://www.playculture.com/app))
\- Comfy shoes
\- Bottle of water
**🛍️ WHAT NOT TO BRING 🎒**
Please try not to bring a bag/backpack as we don't have anywhere to store bags. If possible try not to wear your hair down/long or wear a hoodie, as this could obscure the number on your back
**📜 RULES 📜**
Seektag takes place in public spaces, so please remember these rules:

Dear Backgammon Lovers,
Join us this Sunday 26 April 4pm for a brand new backgammon social at a fantastic new central London location — The Lion & The Unicorn (Wetherspoons), inside Waterloo Station.
At very short notice, James has bravely stepped in to host from 4pm, so come along, show your support, and help us kick off what could become a great new regular spot if all goes to plan.
Whether you're a seasoned player or just curious to learn, everyone is welcome. Expect friendly games, good company, and the usual relaxed vibe.
Social Backgammon
Whether you’re a seasoned player or completely new, everyone’s welcome. Our Sunday afternoon offers a mix of friendly competition, laughter and the occasional lucky double six. Add alongside this, the Spoons great selection of reasonable priced food, drinks and easy conversation, and you’ve got a fabulous and relaxed afternoon rolling dice into a fun evening.
Like with all venues we are expected to purchase food and drinks here whilst playing this great social game.
About Our Backgammon Group
Our group started in June 2015 and has now run more than 400 official meetups plus over 200 informal gatherings. With nearly 2,200 members, we’re the largest backgammon group in the UK, and we're known for our warmth, humour and friendliness. We typically meet fortnightly on Sundays, with around twenty or so regulars along with new players each time.
Everyone is welcome, whatever your level.
RSVP
Please RSVP as soon as you can, as it really helps with planning, especially at this first time venue so that we may reserve an area for ourselves.
Bring your own board
If you have a backgammon board, please bring it. If you don’t, just post a note on the Meetup page or message me and we’ll match you up. It’s always fun to see the variety of boards people bring along.
Meetup fee
£4 per person. This small contribution helps pay Meetup, cover tip, admin, hosting and other organisational costs that keep the group running smoothly.
Etiquette
Let’s keep things friendly and respectful over the board, and please thank the Wetherspoons staff when being served. If anything crops up during the event, just have a quiet word with the host.
Backgammon rules
We play under international backgammon tournament rules, with one or two minor exceptions. Full details are on our Meetup page.
Contact
If you need help in advance finding the venue or have any questions, call or text me on 07956 263451.
Please avoid sending Meetup messages within three hours of start time, as they may not be seen in time.
Have lots of fun!
Best wishes,
Chris Sattaur 🤗

Balcombe circular walk approx 16 miles - Hilly
Join us for a rewarding 16-mile circular walk starting from the charming village of Balcombe, taking in some of the most scenic and iconic landscapes in the area. This route is perfect for those who enjoy a bit of a challenge, with plenty of hills to keep things interesting and elevate the views.
We’ll begin by heading towards the impressive Balcombe Viaduct, an architectural highlight that stretches gracefully across the valley—an ideal early photo stop. From there, the route winds through rolling countryside, quiet woodland paths, and open fields as we make our way toward Ardingly Reservoir. Here, we’ll take time to enjoy the peaceful waterside setting, with plenty of opportunities to pause, refuel, and take in the views.
Continuing on, we’ll pass sections of the historic Bluebell Railway, where, if we’re lucky, we may catch a glimpse of a vintage steam train in action—a real treat that adds a touch of nostalgia to the day.
Expect a mix of terrain including woodland trails, country lanes, and uneven paths, with several steady climbs throughout. A good level of fitness is recommended, as the distance and hills make this a moderately challenging walk.
Bring plenty of water, snacks or a packed lunch, and sturdy footwear. In spring, parts of the route may be lined with bluebells, adding even more charm to an already beautiful walk.
A fantastic day out for keen walkers looking to explore the Sussex countryside, enjoy great
ompany, and take in some memorable sights along the way.
This is a hilly walk and so is not suitable for beginner hikers.
Outward Travel: Take the train departing 09.08 AM from London Bridge to Balcombe arr 10:02 Buy a day return ticket to Balcombe. The cost is £10.05 with a groupsave or network rail card.
Walk start: 10:02 from Balcombe station.

IMPORTANT
Please bear in mind this is a free of charge, self-guided trip with a hobby group. It is not organized by a business nor any entity with commercial purposes.
Any trip details, travel advice, route planning, instructions and other content in our group merely represent our shared personal knowledge, research and suggestions as outdoor enthusiasts. As this is no business, there is no "product", "service" or "package" and also no "tour guide", "operator" or "walk leader".
Each participant is responsible for their own safety. Even if some of us are very experienced walking outdoors, nobody assumes responsibility for any kind of injury, damage or loss that may happen.
Despite this, we take extreme precautions and all trips we plan are very safe, fun, highly educational and popular. Our experienced members volunteer their time and effort to shape a pleasant and quality adventure for everyone :-)
By participating you acknowledge and agree with this disclaimer.
Here are our tips on staying safe during outdoor trips:

TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION, INSURANCE
Although we provide detailed suggestions, each participant is expected to arrange their own travel - this gives everyone the freedom and choice. Anyone interested in travel or outdoor insurance should also arrange this on their own. As mentioned above we always take extreme precautions, but some people may still feel safer if covered.
As most of our trips are confirmed or postponed very close to the event date - heavily depending on the weather forecasts - we advise not to buy this until the last minute. People getting tickets from the same station are encouraged to meet early on the day to benefit from discounts such as GroupSave.
Any questions, feel free to ask below or send a private message!
