Drop-In Improv Class
### Drop-In Improv Class — Beginner Friendly
**Improv for good people.**
Join us for a fun, beginner-friendly drop-in improv class focused on play, laughter, and connection — in a supportive, no-pressure environment.
You don’t need performance experience, improv training, or a “funny personality.”
You just need a willingness to try.
***
### What to expect
Each session includes:
* Friendly introductions
* Easy warm-ups
* Guided short-form improv games
* Lots of laughter in a small, welcoming group
The exercises are inspired by shows like *Whose Line Is It Anyway?*, but the focus is on participation, not performance.
***
### A few important reassurances
✔ You don’t need to be “funny”
✔ You don’t need improv experience
✔ You *do* need curiosity and a willingness to play
Everything is explained clearly, and you’re never put on the spot.
***
### Who this class is for
This class is a great fit if you:
* Are curious about improv but a little nervous
* Want to meet new people in a genuinely welcoming space
* Enjoy playful learning and low-pressure activities
* Want a break from overthinking and daily stress
Many people arrive unsure and leave smiling.
***
### How Meetup fits in
Many participants first discover Laughy Place Improv through Meetup, attend a class or two, and then decide whether they’d like to continue by booking future classes directly through the website.
There’s no pressure — Meetup is meant to be an easy, friendly way to try things out.
***

NOVA Horror Club Discussion: The Cabin in the Woods
**NOTE: This is NOT a screening, please watch the movie before the discussion.**
*"Okay, I'm drawing a line in the fucking sand, here. Do not read the Latin."*
Drew Goddard’s *The Cabin in the Woods* opens with a scenario horror fans know by heart: a group of college friends, a remote cabin, and a weekend that’s clearly going to go wrong. The setup feels ritualistic, almost inevitable — like the story itself is already in motion before anyone arrives.
From there, the film pivots into something stranger and smarter, blending satire, creature-feature chaos, and genuine tension. Balancing humor with escalating spectacle, the film manages to be both deeply referential and wildly entertaining. It’s as much about why we watch horror as it is about what’s happening on screen.

The Purpose Of Our Worship Of God
The purpose of our worship is to glorify, honor, praise, exalt, and please God. The nature of the worship God demands is the prostration of our souls before Him in humble and contrite submission.
Jesus says in John 4:23-24, "But the hour is coming, and now is when true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."It doesn’t say we can worship God any way we want, but we "must worship Him in spirit and in truth". The word "must" makes it absolute. There is no other way we can worship God and be acceptable to Him.
God seeks true worshippers, and He identifies them as those who "worship Him in spirit and in truth". Worshipping God in spirit means that it must be done from the heart. Worshipping God in truth means that it must be done according to God has specified in the Bible.
Come with Expectations:
Expect to experience the Presence of the Lord. Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and flow in the spirit.
Expect "Soaking Time" This is your personal time seeking the Lord while listening to prerecorded music, as directed by the Holy Spirit. Come 15 to 30 minutes early for soaking time.
Expect an atmosphere of freedom to worship and liberty in Christ Jesus.
Expect the Holy Spirit to administer Spiritual Gifts in the Body of Christ: The Word of Wisdom, Word of Knowledge faith, gifts of healings, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, divers kinds of tongues (languages), interpretation of tongues (languages), 1 Corinthians 12.
Expect singing and praying in the spirit with understanding, 1 Corinthians 14:15
Expect to be filled with the spirit, speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, making melody in your heart to the Lord. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:18-20
Expect anointed teachings/preaching of the Word Of God.
Expect to lay prostrate while seeking the Lord (bring a throw blanket).
Note: The above is freely administered by the Holy Spirit, subject to change, and is not all-inclusive. There is much more, but cannot be written here. Remember God sent you here for a purpose.
Blessed be God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. Ephesians 1:3
We love you in Jesus's name.

NOVA Horror Club Discussion: House AKA Hausu (1977)
**NOTE: This is NOT a screening, please watch the movie before the discussion.**
*"I'm scared! It's like a horror movie!"*
*"That's out of date. Step aside. This is a karate movie!"*
Nobuhiko Obayashi’s *House* is less a horror film than a psychedelic fever dream that happens to be haunted. When a group of schoolgirls visit a remote countryside house, logic quickly evaporates, replaced by floating heads, ravenous furniture, and a visual language that feels closer to a children’s cartoon than a traditional ghost story.
*House* was created in direct opposition to the prestige dramas and somber horror of its era, resulting in a cult classic that feels anarchic even today. Using crude visual effects, cartoon logic, and musical cues, the film creates horror through excess rather than restraint. It’s funny, disorienting, and utterly unique — a film that feels like it’s being invented moment by moment.
