Our goal is to provide conversational language practice through informal instruction and feedback, alongside emotional and practical assistance. We invite all new immigrants, English language students, visitors to Canada, parents of children temporarily attending schools in Toronto, foreign university students, and anyone looking to enhance their language skills. We aim to build a welcoming community where friendships can flourish, help participants establish meaningful connections, learn about life in Toronto, and access practical resources like resume and interview preparation, shopping tips, and guidance on setting up home services or navigating government offices. We will host a reading group and a career mentoring group every other Tuesday at 10 AM. Our conversation group will take place every Tuesday from 11 AM to 12:30 PM, featuring both large and small group discussions on topics such as current events, cultural exchange, and media stories. The small groups will include a mix of language learners and volunteers who provide gentle feedback. Participants will receive grammatical structures and vocabulary lists related to each topic to guide their conversations and enhance their language learning experience.

Hogtown Hash House Harriers (HH3) is a Toronto social running/walking and beer drinking group, with events happening every other Saturday, plus one Thursday and one Friday per month. We start at different locations across the city, run or walk together, and typically end at a local pub where we continue to socialize. Expect plenty of laughs, songs, quirky traditions, and a beer stop or two along the way. New members and non-beer drinkers are always welcome! HH3’s Friday event (A.K.A. ‘The Hogans’) is traditionally our shortest and slowest trail with the most beer stops! Meet and greet at 7pm; head out around 7:30pm. Date / Time: Friday January 23 @ 7pm Start location: Rainhard Brewery, 100 Symes Road Nearest TTC stop: Runnymede (subway line 2). Take bus north to St Claire, walk east to Symes Road Cost: $15 for drinkers, $2 for non-drinkers, paid at start of trail. Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.

Rents aren’t hitting projections, but expenses are exceeding them. And lenders who relied on loose underwriting, minimal paperwork, and “It’s Ok, I trust you” terms are finding out why those habits only work in hot markets. That’s why we’re hosting this all-day, online workshop **designed for people who are already private lenders—or want to be—and want to protect their money in a slower, flatter 2026 market.** You’ll learn how to evaluate deals, borrowers, and paperwork the right way, how to structure safer loans, and how to deal with troubled loans before they become disasters.
