Welcome to our weekly physical or virtual Club Polyglotte meeting. * As usual, a minimum consumption of one drink or something small to eat is obligatory at Restaurant Quai Steffen at 13, Place de la gare at the Luxembourg railway station. * We start our get together at 19:00 h and finish at 22:00 h. As on every Tuesday, participate at one of the following language tables: 1. English 2. French 3. Luxemburgish 4. German 5. Spanish 6. Italian or languages like Mandarin, Russian, Romanian or Arabic, if needed. We are constantly searching for Buddies who lead the various language tables and for those who would like to participate in the organisation for our club established in 1999. Casemates is one of Luxembourg's English-speaking Toastmasters clubs - here you’ll find a supportive and friendly environment which will allow you to develop your communication skills, become a confident leader and have fun! Each meeting is clearly structured with three parts: improvised speaking on various topics, prepared speeches by members, and an evaluation part where all the speakers receive feedback. **Um was geht es dieses mal?** Dieses Mal haben wir zwei Talks für euch! **Performance und Portability in Data Analytics mit DuckDB & Co. - Niklas Niggemann** Moderne Data Teams kämpfen mit zwei Kernproblemen: Performance und Portability. Dieser Vortrag zeigt anhand umfassender Benchmarks von DuckDB, Polars und Pandas mit Datensätzen von wenigen Gigabyte bis zu mehreren Terabyte, wie Ausführungsmodelle, Dateiorganisation und Speicherverwaltung die Performance beeinflussen. DuckDB liefert konstant niedrigen Speicherverbrauch, Polars erreicht durch Parallelisierung hohe Geschwindigkeiten – doch sobald mehrere Engines „schnell genug" sind, zählt Flexibilität. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM. It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily.
