An MLIR Pipeline for ComputeRAM: Enabling Compute-in-Memory IP
Hendrik Klug is joining us to give a talk on the work he has been doing at Synthara to enable their in-memory compute IP using an MLIR-based stack.
As usual there will be pizza, snacks, beer, and soft drinks after the event for participants, sponsored by Prof. Zhendong Su and the Advanced Software Technologies (AST) Lab at ETH Zurich.
**Abstract:** Licensing custom accelerators as IP to chip makers comes with all sorts of challenges for the compiler. In particular, compute-in-memory hardware moves computation into the memory hierarchy, which requires a different kind of scheduling than conventional compilation pipelines usually perform. Synthara's computeRAM is an in-memory compute IP that is integrated into a wide range of targets, from smartwatches to datacenter accelerators, and each chip maker brings their own toolchain. So computeRAM has to come with a compilation pipeline flexible enough to plug into whichever platform compiler the chip maker is developing, schedule the memory hierarchy and compute capabilities exposed by the hardware, and stay maintainable as the IP evolves. MLIR's dialect and transformation model lets us integrate into the customer's compilation pipeline rather than replace it, and the same pipeline can be retargeted as the integration surface changes from one chip maker to the next. In this talk we walk through the MLIR pipeline we have built around computeRAM at Synthara: the hardware and the platforms it integrates into, the lowering pipeline to both LLVM and EmitC, and the optimizations we do for computeRAM. Throughout, we share what we learned: the good, the bad and the ugly of what's available upstream.
**Location:** The event is taking place in the room G51 in the CAB building of ETH Zurich at the Zentrum campus. Enter from Universitätstrasse 6.

Coffee, Cake & Painting class at Latte Stories in Cham
🎨 **Latte Stories goes Art Stories**
Create your own landscape painting while enjoying coffee, cake and creativity
**Register here:**
https://www.hands-on-art.com/event-details/latte-stories-goes-art-stories
**📅 Wednesday, 17 June**
**🕑 14:00–16:00**
**📍 Latte Stories, Cham (Zug)**
**Have you always wanted to paint but didn't know where to start?**
This workshop is your invitation to spend a creative summer afternoon in the beautiful setting of Latte Stories. Whether you come with a friend or on your own, you'll be guided step by step in creating your own landscape painting on canvas.
No artistic talent or previous experience is required. Just bring your curiosity.
Together, we'll explore loose painting, an intuitive painting approach inspired by Berlin-based artist Christina Mallet. Instead of focusing on perfection or copying every detail, you'll learn how to capture the atmosphere and feeling of a landscape with expressive brushstrokes, colour and your own artistic interpretation.
We'll work from inspiring landscape images, such as views of Zug and iconic mountain scenery, while discovering how freeing it can be to paint with less pressure and more trust in the process.
**✨ What is included?**
• A guided 2-hour painting workshop with Laura Latacz from Hands-on Art
• All painting materials
• A 30 x 40 cm canvas to take home
• Acrylic paints, pencils and brushes
• A drink of your choice
• A piece of cake of your choice
• Personal guidance in a small group setting
**Price**
89 CHF (including art materials, guidance, a drink of your choice and a piece of cake)
And if the weather is on our side, we'll paint outside in the shade and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Latte Stories.
By the end of the afternoon, you'll leave with your own unique artwork—and perhaps a different perspective on what creativity can feel like.
This workshop is perfect for anyone in Zug and the surrounding area who would like to explore painting in a welcoming, supportive environment.
**✨ Places are limited to keep the experience personal, so early booking is recommended.**
I look forward to creating with you!

We’ll gather by the pool to discuss topics such as:
* Passion projects
* Design, technology, and product thinking
* Ethical and responsible uses of AI
* Creativity, learning, and experimentation
* Personal philosophies and ways of working
* Interesting questions about the future
The format is intentionally informal. Feel free to join a conversation, listen, ask questions, or share something you’ve been exploring.
Need a break? Take a swim, cool off, and come back with a fresh perspective or a new idea to discuss.
This is not a recruiting event, job fair, or transactional networking meetup. While meaningful professional relationships may naturally develop over time, the purpose of the gathering is not to find clients, hire employees, or look for your next job. Instead, the goal is to create a welcoming space for genuine conversation, intellectual curiosity, and human connection.
Bring your curiosity, a towel, and whatever ideas have been occupying your mind lately.
\*Come to exchange ideas, not business cards.\*
Zurich Kundalini Yoga/Meditation (Donation Basis)
Dear All,
This session is mainly for the people who want to learn kundalini yoga/meditation in a traditional way. Traditionally the master will transfer his/her kundalini energy to the student to activate his important chakras (energy centre) including Third Eye and Crown Chakra. The student can start to feel his/her Kundalini Energy is rising from their base of the spine and feeling the energy vibration(Consciousness) in the third eye (the space between the eyebrows) from the Kundalini Activation. This session is helpful for the beginners who want to learn simple yoga-meditation exercises also.
This is a general session to experience your inner kundalini energy. But if you need proper kundalini activation(Shaktipat), then pre-registration is mandatory.

**Dress:**
Wear a comfortable dress if possible yoga dress. We provide the yoga mat.
**Please RSVP only you are really interested and coming ! Limited Seats !**
**About Kundalini Shaktipat:**
In every human being there is a source of natural energy that the yogis call the kundalini. In order to evolve in the yogic path, no matter what our path, the kundalini must be active.
For most of us, the kundalini lies dormant at the bottom of the spine in the base chakra known as the Muladhar. When it awakens, it ascends through the chakras until it reaches the highest chakra, the Sahasrar. When that occurs, we merge with our True Self and attain SELF realization (our true nature).
Shaktipat is the transfer of spiritual energy from the teacher to the student in order to awaken the kundalini. This process is compared to lighting one candle with another that is already lit and glowing. When the teacher is connected with the fully realized master and the energy is completely within his or her control, shaktipat initiation ensures that the student’s energy will remain active and stable. "Electricity is present everywhere, but there can be light only when the switch is turned on. Similarly the true master manifests the consciousness in the disciple through shaktipat.”
**HAPPINESS is our TRUE Nature, which comes from within not from outside !**

Profs & Pints Northern Virginia: Can Artificial Intelligence “See”?
[Profs and Pints Northern Virginia](https://www.profsandpints.com/washingtondc) presents: **“Can Artificial Intelligence ‘See’?”** A look at how humans and artificial intelligence systems interpret the visual world in fundamentally different ways, with Arryn Robbins, assistant professor of psychology at the University of Richmond and cognitive scientist who researches visual attention, perception, and category learning.
[Advance tickets: $13.50 plus sales tax and processing fees. Available at [https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-can-AI-see](https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-can-AI-see) .]
Artificial intelligence can now identify faces, categorize objects, describe scenes, and outperform humans on certain visual tasks. But does AI actually “see” the world the way that people do? Or does it arrive at correct answers using representations that differ markedly from human perception?
Join Arryn Robbins of the University of Richmond for a fascinating exploration of how humans and AI construct meaning from visual information and a look at comparisons between human perception and AI that reveal just how dynamic and context-dependent our own visual systems really are.
Dr. Robbins, who previously has given excellent Profs and Pints talks on flaws and biases in human visual perception, will draw from research in cognitive science, visual perception, and AI vision systems.
She’ll explain how human perception is not merely a simple recording of the world, but an active process shaped by expectations, context, goals, and recent experience. You’ll learn how humans form flexible mental representations that allow us to recognize objects across changing environments and conditions, and why those representations continuously adapt as we interact with the world.
Many AI systems, by contrast, learn visual categories through statistical patterns in data. They can produce impressive results, but sometimes they also produce strange and unexpected failures, and sometimes they classify images in ways that seem strange to us.
Dr. Robbins will discuss what these differences reveal about the nature of perception itself, and why the mismatch between human and AI representations matters for technologies like self-driving cars, medical imaging, facial recognition, and automated surveillance.
Important for anyone trying to understand the rapidly growing role of AI in daily life, this talk will explore one of the biggest questions in cognitive science and artificial intelligence: What does it actually mean to “see” and understand the world? (Doors: $17, or $15 with a student ID. Listed time is for doors. The talk starts 30 minutes later.)

**Tech Talk: Secure Developer Environments in the Age of AI Agents**
**Speaker:** Patrick Brown (Coder)
**Abstract:** Federal engineering teams are under pressure to ship faster while meeting some of the most demanding security and compliance requirements in the world. In this talk, Patrick Brown of Coder explores how cloud development environments (CDEs) give agencies a foundation to accelerate software delivery without sacrificing control — and why that foundation matters even more as AI-powered coding agents enter the workflow. He'll cover how CDEs keep source code off endpoints, enforce zero-trust access patterns, and provide the consistent, ephemeral infrastructure that both human developers and AI agents need to operate safely at scale.
