Dancing, Brunch and Conversation - "Daybreaker" at Abbotsford Convent
### Meet time
**7:30am sharp – Meet outside Abbotsford Convent**
We’ll have around **15 minutes together *outside* (in front of BIKE SHED) before the event**, which is perfect for a **quick round of friendly introductions** and settling in as a group before heading into "Daybreaker".
### Daybreaker
**8:00am – 10:00am**
We’ll attend "**Daybreaker"** together – an alcohol-free morning dance experience designed to energise your body and mind and start the day feeling alive and present.
"Daybreaker" tickets are booked separately and can be purchased here:
No dance experience needed. Come as you are.
### Brunch + deeper conversation
After "Daybreaker" (10am), we’ll meet outside the BIKE SHED again, then head out for **brunch together** (optional but encouraged).
Depending on the group and availability, we may:
* Walk straight into the **Collingwood Children’s Farm Café**, or
* Take a longer walk to a nearby venue such as **Three Bags Full**, **Cam’s Kiosk**, or **Jinda Thai**
We’ll decide together on the day.
This is where there’s space to slow down and deepen conversations. After moving together, it’s often easier to connect and talk about:
* Your experience of Daybreaker
* Dance, music, art, or creativity
* Food, wellbeing, and living healthy
* Life in Melbourne and upcoming events
As with other **Good Conversations Club** events, you’re welcome to arrive exactly as you are.
There’s **no pressure to perform or talk constantly**.
I’ll have **conversation prompts available** that you’re welcome to use if you’d like — or not at all. They’re simply there to support ease, connection, and better conversations if you want them.
Brunch is where conversations naturally deepen and flow more easily.
### Who this event is for
This event tends to attract people who are **young at heart**, open-minded, and curious about life.
There’s no strict age range — you’ll likely meet people across different ages who:
* Enjoy movement, music, and shared experiences
* Value meaningful conversation over small talk
* Are open, respectful, and socially aware
If you’re comfortable in mixed-age groups and enjoy connecting beyond labels, you’ll likely feel at home.
### Important notes
* We’ll keep pre-event conversation light due to time
* Deeper conversations happen after Daybreaker over brunch
* "Daybreaker" tickets are purchased individually
* Brunch is pay-your-own
This event is about sharing an experience first, then enjoying meaningful, nourishing conversation afterwards.
**Movement first. Conversation after. Connection naturally.**
NOTE: For "Daybreaker"
### **Come ready to dance.**
### **Wear something that lets you move freely.**
### **Bring a water bottle and an open heart.**
### **Leave the rest at the door.**
### **We’ll see you on the dance floor.**
### **Door open at 7:40am**

I’m excited to visit this new venue because iv never been to this place. Iv heard and read the positive feedback to this venue.
Why it’s important to join meetups ?
It’s in our DNA to connect with people. Let’s face it, we are social creatures and we need to be connected with one another. If you go back to our grandparents, they would be connected in a community (or village) and everyone would know each other.
Nowadays, we no longer live like this because there are big cities and we are continually moving fast, and disconnection has been widespread. This is why connection is important. We need to bring back connection.
If you have any questions, please feel free to inbox me me a direct message.
Looking forward to seeing u all there.✌🏽peace Kind regards, Abraham

Blood on the Clocktower - Beginners Welcome @Temple Arden
Are you ready for some more *conniving*, *falsehoods* and *mischievous antics* at Temple Arden, North Melb?
**What to Expect:**
Blood on the Clocktower is a social deduction game requiring a storyteller to take a roughly a dozen people through a series of "days and nights" where townspeople try to identify and hunt down a *demon* before they become the hunted.
**Beginners welcome!** You don't need to know how to play **AT ALL**, so please bring a friend, we will run a tutorial for those who need it.
**NOTE**
BOTC requires fluent English, the crux of this game is communication and deception.
**2 Strike Policy**
Late-leavers: attendees who cancel within 24 hours of the event.
No-shows: attendees who mark themselves as “going” but don’t turn up.
Someone who does either of these once will be forgiven but flagged.
On a second offence, they will be removed.
Long-time regulars will be afforded some leniency.
Legitimate reasons will be considered for leniency.

📚 #InPursuit – A Book Club for Builders, Thinkers, and Doers
📚 #InPursuit is a book club for entrepreneurs, creatives, and curious minds who know personal growth fuels business growth.
**See a lot of RSPVPs and wonder how it works? We'll break up into groups of 6-8 to share our insights, then swap groups after 30-45min so you can maximise learning from everybody!**
*Note: this even is not organised by or affiliated with The State Library of Victoria*
**That's what #InPursuit is all about**
It’s not a traditional book club, it’s a space for people who are actively designing a better life through the pursuit of business, creativity, and personal growth. This event is for anyone #InPursuit of better business, life and relationships.
Instead of reading the same book, we each come prepared to share one powerful insight from something we’ve read in the past 3-months. Anything non-fiction that’s moved us forward.
Whether it’s a mindset shift, a productivity system, a new philosophy, or just a truth that punched us in the gut. This is a place to unpack it together and hear what others are learning too.
We’re not just here to *read*. We’re here to *integrate*. Because when we grow, our business and our lives grow too.
**🔍 Why Join? You'll leave with:**
* 5–10 fresh insights from books you may never have picked up
* Deeper awareness of how others think, lead, and evolve
* New connections with people walking a similar path toward purpose, results, and impact
This isn’t a lecture. It’s a room full of people building themselves while they build the thing.
**📖 How It Works**
First time? No pressure to share, just come curious.
We'll break up into groups of 6-8 and share our insights, then swap groups so you can maximise the learning!
Returning? Bring one idea you’ve read about in the last 3-months and be ready to speak on:
1. What did you learn?
2. How did it shift your perspective about the world or yourself?
3. How has it changed the way you show up or behave?
We keep it structured, but flexible. After sharing, we open up to Q&A, personal stories, challenges, and deep dives. Some of the best insights come from the conversations *after* the share.
**🧠 Who This Is For**
* Entrepreneurs or side-hustlers finding their footing
* Business owners, and doers building toward better
* Curious minds who love ideas but care more about action
* People tired of shallow conversations and hungry for growth
If you’re working on something—or becoming someone—this space is for you. It’s a practice ground for people who want to grow forward.
We’re all #InPursuit of mastery, momentum, and the kind of success that starts from within.
**Map on how to get there**
We're in the Create Quarter on the ground level (back right of the Quad as you enter from Swanson St). We'll likely be on a long table together.
https://www.slv.vic.gov.au/sites/default/files/SLV-EnglishMap_Jan25.pdf
*If there is no room at a table I'll post on the event page that we'll be going to Mr. Tulk Cafe, which is on the corner of the library at Swanson St and La Trobe St.*

Also, please read all details, in this page and eventbrite page
Hello everyone,
The first monthly AR evening for 2026 is Sunday Jan 4th.
You are warmly invited to this immersive evening of Authentic Relating. This evening will involve fun and interactive exercises based around exploring the theme, "What is like to be in connection with myself and others?"
This is a space for exploring feelings, sensations, boundaries, and self-expression through immersive exercises. This is about empathic collaboration and learning the art of expressing what is present in the moment.
These beautiful practices really encourage an experience of increased depth and awareness, in a way that is sometimes not available in our everyday lives. The exercises work by creating a framework to explore communication in a non-scripted, in the moment way, which edges away from habitual patterns of relating and welcomes in more life, more breath, and more empathy.
One of the benefits of practices, is that it helps with learning to become more aware of ourselves and others and how do we inter-relate.
\*\*\*NOTE: It is recommended that participants have some experience introspection and shadow work, through participating in counselling, sharing circles, meditation, contemplation, yoga, or any modality that is designed to bring people into contact with their unconscious. This is stated as a duty of care, as the practices in authentic relating revolve around meeting ourselves deeply and coming into contact with how we are occurring the world. This process can be beautifully enlivening, and at times confronting, but the space is guided in such a way that it brings as much holding, and gentleness to the process as to make those courageous steps to share deeply, easier.
If you are new to Authentic Relating or "AR" (as people in the community refer to it) and you have any questions or curiosities, please feel free to contact me via messenger for a chat. Also, there is a plenty of YouTube results for Authentic Relating practices.

Thought Experiment: Dark Forest
Ever wondered how humanity would respond to an asteroid heading for Earth? Or how the world might react to first contact with aliens?
Welcome to **The Thought Experiment** — a new kind of meetup where we explore big *“What if…?”* scenarios in a fun but thoughtful way. Each session, we’ll pick one scenario (from global crises to wild sci-fi situations) and work together to imagine solutions, strategies, and possibilities.
This is for **curious minds of all kinds** — students, professionals, creatives, or anyone who enjoys thinking differently. Some people might bring research, others just bring imagination. Either way, we’ll brainstorm together and see where the discussion takes us.
[Thought Experiment Site](https://thoughtexperiment.au/)
**We ask everyone to Buy a drink at the venue**
**You Need to have Conversational English.**
**Format:**
* Quick intro to the scenario
* Small-group discussions
* Share back with the group
* Wrap up + (optional) post-discussion drinks
For our first meetup, we’ll introduce the format, get to know each other, and jump into a scenario together.
***Story Arc: Cosmic Dread***
Keywords: *Observatory, Alien Life, Game theory*
**Scenario: Dark Forest**
Coming in the Cosmic Dread Series
Far from cities, far from interference, the data kept coming.
Nothing arrived.
Nothing announced itself.
Stars simply began to vanish.
Not violently.
Not accidentally.
Always near places
that might have mattered.
The system noticed first.
Not as a warning.
As a correction.
If you wanted to end life,
you wouldn’t target the life.
You would destroy the cradle.
And whoever is doing this
is patient.
Every act points
somewhere else.
Tonight, there is no invasion.
No defense.
No escape.
Only the question of whether
being noticed
was the first mistake.
Oxford Scholar — Saturday 3–5 PM.
A small group. Big imagination.
Just curiosity, debate and fun.

The current challenge is the “N x M integration problem,” where every AI model requires a custom, brittle integration for each external tool or data source. This approach simply doesn’t scale. How can we give an AI access to our sales leads, code repositories, or IoT devices in a standardized, secure, and reusable way?
This session introduces Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open-source framework designed to solve this challenge and become the universal connector—the USB-C port—for AI. MCP standardizes how AI models discover and use external tools, moving beyond simple function-calling to a robust, client-server architecture. We will dive into how this open protocol is creating a new ecosystem for building powerful, context-aware AI agents.
Join this session for a developer-focused introduction where you will learn how to:
Understand the core concepts of the open-source Model Context Protocol and its architecture.
Utilize pre-built, open-source MCP servers to instantly connect AI to tools like Git, Slack, and databases.
Build a custom MCP server to securely expose your own proprietary data and APIs as tools for any compliant AI.
Move beyond bespoke integrations and contribute to a standardized, collaborative, and open ecosystem.
Stop building one-off connectors and start building intelligent agents. This session will give you the practical knowledge to leverage MCP and create the next generation of AI that doesn’t just talk, but does.

Data & Analytics Wednesday - Compensation Data
**People Analytics 101: Making Sense of Compensation Data**
Compensation data is one of the most widely used and widely misunderstood forms of people analytics.
The session will cover where compensation data comes from, including market pricing data, internal payroll data, and benchmarking sources, and how companies think about structuring and analyzing that information. We will explore how compensation data is leveraged to set salary ranges, manage internal equity, support hiring and retention, and align pay with business strategy. A portion of the session will address common data challenges and limitations, such as market noise, inconsistent job matching, and incomplete datasets, while keeping the primary focus on practical use rather than technical depth.
The session will also look ahead at where the space is going, including the growing impact of pay transparency laws, expanding pay equity requirements, and emerging regulations in the US and Europe that require organizations to report on gender and pay gaps. The goal is to give attendees a clear mental model for how compensation analytics works today and why getting it right is becoming increasingly critical.
(note: we are back at Rev1 this month!)
