Little Ethiopia on Danforth (5.2 km)
Toronto has a substantial Ethiopian and Eritrean population that sustains two enclaves. This hike goes through the larger one along Danforth Avenue, centered on Greenwood Avenue. There are solid mid-range restaurants along this stretch. Ethiopian, obviously, but also a "Toronto-style" pizza restaurant, Venzuelan arepas, and Toronto's only Dutch restaurant. Not forgetting the largest outpost for Kawartha Dairy ice cream in Toronto.
Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. The cafes and restaurants in this neighbourhood are a good opportunity to sample the acidic blend. Don't miss out on Ethiopian food if you've never had it before. It's unlike any other cuisine, featuring fermented spongy bread (injera), paprika and cardamom-laced curries, and even raw beef (kitfo).
The Ethiopian restaurants along The Danforth are similar, so we'll pick one based on consensus. Good or bad news: there is no cutlery; you are expected to eat with your hands.
**Highlights**
1. Greenwood subway station (depart 6:30pm)
2. Borrel
3. Wazema / The Wood Owl / Rendez-Vous
4. La Cigogne / La Vegan
5. Pomarosa
6. Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant
7. Mofer Coffee (depart 7pm)
8. The Rail Garden / Monarch Park
9. Garage murals along Felstead Avenue playground
10. Desta Market (depart 7:40pm)
11. Danforth Dragon / Square Boy / Abyssinia / Danforth Pizza House / Kawartha Dairy
12. Makkah Restaurant
13. Lalibela
14. Sala Modern Thai Kitchen / Blue Nile Restaurant (arrive 8:15pm)
**Neighbourhoods**

**How it works**
Hike starts punctually. Late or can't do the whole route? Meet us at scheduled checkpoints.
We'll browse many food places but won't linger long. Grab ready-made food, or see the route in advance, organize takeout, then pickup along the way.
Not sure what to try? Join our omakase for $5, which gives a tiny sample from different restaurants. Payment on the day of event by cash or e-transfer to [globaltorontoeats@gmail.com.](http://globaltorontoeats@gmail.com.) No refunds after orders are placed. Details of sampled food will be uploaded after the hike.
Limited cutlery provided. Highly recommended to bring cutlery and containers for omakase and bringing back leftovers.

FREE Spanish, English, and French Oral Conversational Class 4 Adults!!
\*These classes are not a language exchange, but instead are meant to be a step in between so that students feel confident maintaining in depth and grammatically correct oral conversations outside of class\*
\***Meetup event numbers only tend to show new students registering and do not include returning students attending class.** **Per class, there is an average of 7 students.** The first 2 classes are free and then only cost between $15 and $35 depending on which type of class you want to continue with\*
These French, English (For Spanish and French speakers only), and Spanish classes are primarily meant for adults who are travellers, or who are planning to live in a French, English, or Spanish-speaking country. The classes are primarily oral-based through guided conversations. They will teach you how to handle conversations in situations such as **"Going to the Convenience Store"**, **"Making Plans"**, **"Negotiating Prices"**, and **"Going out for a Drink"**. To ensure that students get used to using the language automatically, students will learn to maintain contextual conversations with timing before moving on to the next lesson. You will naturally gel with others of your own age range and so you will always find many attendees who fit your range\.
\- We are not a 'dating' group\. We are focused on helping ladies and gents meet other like minded ladies and gents\. You will generally find a good gender balance \(maybe not perfect\) at all our events\.

Let's grab some coffee/food and share a morning chat! The East Market has an ample parking lot and outdoor and indoor seating.

Per what this group is about: "Everyone is welcome! International transplants to Columbus who want to improve language skills, Columbus residents who want to discuss international travel and culture, and anyone who enjoys getting together for good conversations."

(Everyone will individually choose from the buffet and pay for their own meal, by weight.)
How to Move on From the Past and Feel Happy
In this local meeting, you will discover knowledge that you can use to get over the past.
The key to improving your personal motivation, self-confidence, and happiness is to get over your painful memories.
When you become free of your past, you will be free from stress, anger, anxiety and depression. Studies show that negative emotions can affect your health. By being free of negative emotions, believe it or not, you will most likely even look younger, feel more energetic, and become healthier!
