Immersive 3D Sketching by Tianyi Xiao
Immersive 3D Sketching by Tianyi Xiao
Welcome to the Zürich AR/VR/Spatial Computing Group. Tonight, we are joined by Tianyi Xiao, a fourth-year PhD candidate at ETH Zürich’s geoGAZElab. Tianyi develops XR-based immersive 3D sketching interfaces that serve as both creative instruments for architectural design and tools for investigating human spatial cognition. His research, frequently featured at the prestigious ACM CHI conference, explores how generative AI can create seamless sketch-to-model pipelines. Key projects include Sketch2Terrain, an AI-driven system that allows non-experts to create to sketch accurate maps of natural landscapes in Augmented Reality, as well as Sketch2Model, a creative tool that enables the conversion from 3d sketches into 3D furniture in Extended Reality. Following the talk, we are going to have a hands-on session to try the Sketch2Model tool. This event: 19:30 Opening of door Z0.03 20:00 Main talk: Immersive 3D Sketching by Tianyi Xiao 20:30 hands-on session to try the Sketch2Model tool. Aktzeichnen (Life drawing) in Kreis 4
Aktzeichnen (Life drawing) in Kreis 4
Every week since 2022, we have featured nude model poses, both in short and long poses. At the beginning, we have short poses (2, 3, 5, 15 minutes), then two 30-minute sessions. Between blocks, we have 5-10-minute breaks to refresh and socialize with tea and cookies. Normally, we have an interesting international group of artists, consisting of around 8-10 people, who come regularly and do not typically write about their attendance on Meetup. **Important!** Please book your ticket at Meetup by PayPal or [https://eventfrog.ch/en/p/art-exhibitions/other-art-events/life-drawing-aktzeichnen-in-zuerich-kreiss-4-7443670439170199947.html](here) On our Instagram page, you can see drawings from our artists from previous events: [here](https://eventfrog.ch/en/cockpitv3/events/7365649101847824543/overview) Please bring your favorite drawing material. The Chemistry Lab — A Psychology-Based Coffee Date Meetup
The Chemistry Lab — A Psychology-Based Coffee Date Meetup
This isn’t a typical singles mixer. The Chemistry Lab is a small, curated gathering of 10–12 professionals where compatibility is considered before you walk in the door. Here’s how it works: once we have enough attendees to form couples, your attendance will be confirmed, you’ll complete a short 10-minute psychological assessment covering your attachment style, core values, and what you genuinely need in a partner. I will send it to everyone personally. We use those results to handpick the guest list. On the night: • A relaxed private coffee setting • Your personal profile card with your psychological summary • Structured conversation prompts tailored to the group • No “so what do you do” openers • 10–12 carefully selected attendees Who this is for: Self-aware professionals who are serious about finding something real and done wasting time on bad matches. Spots are limited and every application is reviewed personally. Good conversation. Real compatibility. No small talk.

Designing for Behaviour Change: Build for Humans, Not the Backlog
Designing for Behaviour Change: Build for Humans, Not the Backlog
**Most products are designed to move people in a certain direction.** But when it comes to behaviour change, pressure and punishment **often** **backfire.** They may create short-term compliance, but they can also leave users feeling guilty, frustrated, or simply ready to give up. **In this talk, Mi Xue Tan explores how UX can support lasting behaviour change through positive reinforcement.** Instead of designing systems that fight human psychology, she looks at how we can build experiences that work with it — reducing resistance, creating motivation, and supporting small steps that add up over time. This matters for the UX community because every product shapes behaviour. When we design with human needs and motivation in mind, retention does not have to be forced. It can emerge more naturally through experiences that feel supportive, effective, and genuinely human. **[Mi Xue Tan](https://www.linkedin.com/in/mi-xue-tan-3030b5120/)** works at the intersection of data, user research, and human behavior. With a background in data science and UX research, her work xplores how thoughtful design and positive reinforcement can support meaningful behavior change. Her focus: using data, psychology, and good communication to **create experiences that people don’t just use — but stick with.** \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- 💬 The Talk is in **English** 📍 The event will be held at ETH Zürich Maschinenbau ML, **Room F36** We kindly ask you to arrive *10 minutes* early of the event start, so everyone can find a seat due to high attendance. *Thank you!*
