Friday Strategy Board Games at the Coat and Badge, Putney
Friday Strategy Board Games at the Coat and Badge, Putney
Strategy Board Games at the The Coat and Badge, Putney. **Is this event for you?** If you have been to a few WLGC events, or are used to playing modern board games with a significant amount of rules, then this event is for you. If not, please join us at our "Beginner Friendly" event every other week. This is an event to play Strategy games which range from medium to heavy in complexity and last 2-4 hours, depending on the game. It can take about 15-30min to teach, again depending on the complexity of the game. I usually advertise which game I am going to bring a few days in advance, as it can be helpful to at least be familiar with the rules. Other gamers may bring another selection of games, so be prepared to be surprised on the day. Here are more details specifically about the Putney events: We’re a friendly, social group that regularly play a range of board games and card games. This event has been running since June 2022 and we have a core group of regular gamers but welcome new members who are looking for a games group to play on a regular or fairly regular basis. Games we play range from, 30min - 1hour games, to the heavier 2-3hour games. We alternate the weeks we play shorter games versus the longer strategy games (check the event title for which type of games are being played). Quicker, fun, social games we play: • Just One https://youtu.be/0DDRxztfJP0?si=QPavmMFE3DFipM-x • Skull King https://youtu.be/xlFHfCqY-5Y?si=X-U1WLP5JOI0oTcB • Planted https://youtu.be/BB5mwXFPrUA?si=oLor8WTSpLUs7B12 • Project L https://youtu.be/EFV-qavWUlE?si=41_XhoZQvWs_9Zp2 • 7 Wonders https://youtu.be/z_Wfdn5Es8U?si=-L3cLo2Uppdip2ow Longer, Strategy games we play: • Lost Ruins of Arnak https://youtu.be/Kg2z4ApABY8?si=l46LNYRjQA_0QoZS • Terraforming Mars https://youtu.be/n3yVpsiVwL8?si=SW7VCdJpnqErKlIO We like to start on time but if you do arrive late, don’t worry, it may mean you have to wait a bit until the next game starts, but we always try to accommodate where we can. If it's Strategy games night, it is more important that we start on time as the games are longer and we want to finish on time. If you know you are going to be late please just let us know your eta. The event is free but please keep in mind that in order to have the space and run the event on a regular basis we need to purchase drinks/food from the venue. Also, please don’t sign up and not show up. Not only do you take up a spot for someone keen to play games but we have limited space that we need to reserve with the venue and no-shows jeopardise our relationship with the venue. Thanks for your understanding. Hope to see you at a games table!!
London daytime testing at Waterloo
London daytime testing at Waterloo
We playtest all sorts of games - strategic, silly, creative, or whatever. Some games are almost done. Some are very early ideas. We test anything that will fit into 90 minutes. You don't need to bring a game - we always love to have new playtesters! Please let us know in the comments when you plan to arrive/leave and whether you are bringing a game or not. This helps us to plan the day better. The schedule is: 10am onwards - gathering, chatting 11am sharp - playing for 90 min ('slot 1') 12:30ish - break for food/chat 1pm sharp - playing for 90 min ('slot 2') 2:30ish - break for food/chat 3pm sharp - playing for 90 min ('slot 3') 4:30ish - finish up Often, we might hang around afterwards, to play some already-published games. We are strict on timings, so please try to arrive a few minutes before the session to limit disruption. You can just come for part of the day if you wish. The reason we have fixed timings for the 3 'slots' is to make it easier for folk to do so. Designers of all levels of experience are welcome! But if it's your first time, we ask that you don't bring a game and just spend some time learning how the group works. The group works based on reciprocation. If you expect to test your own game, make sure stay for long enough to play other games. As a general rule of thumb, you can expect to play one of your own games every third 90-minute session. So if you stay a whole day (3 sessions), you can expect to have one session to play your game(s). A good rule of thumb is that if you come all day, you will have one 90 minute session with two other playtesters in which to test your own games. It is sometimes possible to test games with more players. If your game requires 4 or more, please note that as standard you will be allocated half of a session (45 minutes). Pre-covid, we were getting unmanageable. As a result, we may have to limit attendees. This is a free-to-use venue, and we have to be mindful that other folk want to use the same space. Please note: This is an adults only event. We look forward to seeing you!
Unspun Soho Festival at The Lower Third (Friday Night Indie Pop)
Unspun Soho Festival at The Lower Third (Friday Night Indie Pop)
Hi All Im SO excited to invite you all to this. We love our weekly Unspun Sessions celebrating new artists that everyone can discover in a premium venue. To celebrate two years of Unspun, we are hosting an exciting three night Festival at The Lower Third Soho. ***Friday night - Indie/Alt/Pop*** ***Saturday night - Jazz/Soul/Latin*** ***Sunday night - Americana/Folk/Blues*** 6.45pm onwards - join us in the bar for a mingle 7.15pm - head into the venue space and get ready for a wicked show! Our Friday Lineup: **Stan Pratt** describes his distinct sound as “walking through a futuristic, Blade Runner-esque city at night”. Taking inspiration from Kavinsky, Imogen Heap, and Marina & the Diamonds. Stan’s lyrics are influenced by the introspective writing of Radiohead and Billie Eilish. This year his debut single, “Je Ne Sais Quoi” racked up a quarter of a million streams. **[Watch Stan Pratt Here](https://youtu.be/k4eZ-ow3k8o?si=xDWEujq_3bXii42U)** **EM Kane** writes playfully crafted tales of romance and adventure, drawing you in, then punch you in the gut. Her debut single Wasted Time gained her a place on Glastonbury’s 2024 Emerging Talent Competition Longlist and The Scottish Herald's Top 100 Tunes of The Year 2023, penning her ‘a damn accomplished rock-pop-soul artist in the making’. **[Watch Live Video of EM Kane Here](https://youtu.be/yQX5MmbgPRA?si=NsXxmjb0K7Q65T94)** **Drew Thomas** has taken his place among London's vibrant music scene as the dynamic leader of a new grit-pop movement. Blending grit pop, indie rock and high-energy alt-pop, Drew mirrors elements of The Killers, Jimmy Eat World and Sam Fender with his sonic offering, with a knack for crafting arena-sized choruses and emotionally resonant, nostalgic lyrics. Recent headlines at PDV, Water Rats and The Grace have left us wanting more. **[Watch Drew Thomas](https://youtu.be/ofoVlMPsgoA?si=7Zi7F9l71ingf3W_)**[ ](https://youtu.be/ofoVlMPsgoA?si=7Zi7F9l71ingf3W_) **Leah Wilcox**’s hazy and earthy sound is rooted in a British-sounding Countrygaze landscape, drawing on Indie Rock and Ambient Folk and 70s sounds. She has recently featured on BBC Introducing East Midlands and performed at TRUCK Festival, Y?NOT Festival and DOT2DOT Nottingham. **[Watch Leah Wilcox here](https://youtu.be/-OqEY_ZNJJk?si=IvNMwSX4PBKolKjg)** .Come on Friday or even join us for all three! **As ever we have a lovely discount code for you,** **just quote LONDONLIVE when booking:** ***[BOOK TICKETS HERE](https://dice.fm/event/6939c25c53c27a0001571c47)*** Im really really proud of this Festival, do join us and support 12 stunning artists in a great setting in the heart of Soho! Board, card & dice games night at my place or The George (depending on numbers)
Board, card & dice games night at my place or The George (depending on numbers)
Hi everyone! (pre-pandemic information) If you like to play modern board, card and dice games, and to meet new people, then join us on Monday evenings from 6pm until the pub closes around 11pm. Feel free to bring your own games if you have them, but don't worry if you don't as regular members will bring some along. And of course, we'll teach you how to play them if you don't know already. You work late? No worries - you can join us any time before closing (11pm), so if you don't arrive at 6pm (attendees tend to arrive around 6:30 or 7pm), don't worry :-) Everyone comes and goes when they like, so it is possible that you may be the first to arrive or the last to leave, Please write in the comments what time you expect to arrive at the pub, so we can try to avoid anyone having to wait alone for long. We are a relaxed and friendly group, made up of both natives and foreigners, of locals and those living further afield, happy to welcome newbies and regulars. Events are free to attend, but it is respectable to the public venues we hold them at if you can buy at least one drink or some food while you are present, just like anyone else at the pub would do. If you would like to contribute towards the costs of running of this group, feel free to buy the host(s) a drink of their choice when you see them, for which they'd be very grateful. This saves money that can be put towards the Meetup subscription fees and buying the games that we all play. The George is a reasonably-priced 'local' pub in the Docklands, near Canary Wharf, just 1 minute walk from Crossharbour DLR station, or about 15 minutes walk from the Canary Wharf Jubilee line station. Various TFL buses stop nearby. Don't forget to join our group on Facebook for games news, articles, memes, gossip and banter: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Tabletop.Gamers.London.Docklands/

The Spawn London (Beginner Friendly Game) - Social Deduction on a Cosmic Scale
The Spawn London (Beginner Friendly Game) - Social Deduction on a Cosmic Scale
"Humanity's insatiable appetite to colonise reached far into the stars, but they learned the hard way that some stones should remain unturned. Whilst aggressively terraforming Spawn home worlds, humanity stirred the ancient species out of their slumber and incurred their rage in a cataclysmic event. Now conflict dances across the cosmos as the Spawn seek violent retribution by assimilating themselves among humanity and destroying them from within. Humanity’s only hope of survival is to detect the Spawn among them and destroy the threat." The Spawn is a large-scale elimination-based social deduction game where humanity must root out the Spawn which have infiltrated their ranks or be overpowered by them. Strategic gameplay, social subterfuge and captivating sci-fi converge in one immersive experience. We're located here in the Cinema (which can be found on the 3rd floor of the Mercury Mall Shopping Centre) on: * **Tuesdays & Thursdays**: From 17:30 to 22:00. * **Saturdays**: From 12:00 to 22:00 🦁 And we're still running every Monday 6pm to 11pm at the Golden Lion Pub too. 🌭☕ There are hot & cold food & drink options available from the cinema at low prices! Supporting Premiere Cinema by buying their food & drink IS supporting Dicing With Life! The cinema has been very generous to us by bringing us into their space & our way of showing our gratitude is by sending some business their way. And their menu is surprisingly cheap! Especially compared to any other cinema. Here's some cool examples of some great **offers**: Buy a large **Popcorn** (it's a huge bucket!) or a large **fizzy drink** & it'll initially cost you £4, BUT, take your bucket or cup back to the bar for a **refill** & the cinema will refill it back up to the top for just £2! 🍿🥤 That's half price Popcorn & Pop! This also applies to **Ice Blasts** too (£5 initially but to refill it's just £3). There's also Hot Dogs, Nachos, Pick n Mix & many other treats in store too! Check out their menu 😋 If you have any questions, please ask & let the fun commence! 🎲

The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes. We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. Thank you for your continued commitment to providing a fun and welcoming space to veteran, newbie, and rookie gamers in the Columbus area. Parking can be challenging. There is a parking lot behind the neighboring Mexican restaurant that is free and easy to walk from but it's a bit hidden.

Casual Boardgames - make friends, then beat them in games
Welcome to Casual Boardgames, where we enjoy classic tabletop games and social deduction games while bonding over good food, drinks, and great conversations.
We started this group to meet new people and make new friends, and bonding over games in a relaxed atmosphere is a great way to do that. We currently meet near route 23 and Polaris Parkway, and this is close to areas like Powell, Lewis Center, Worthington, and parts of Westerville and Columbus.
Feel free to bring your own games or play one of the many games our members bring. If you are inexperienced, we will help you learn.
Here are just a few examples of the kind of games we play.
Tabletop/board games: Splendor, Catan, Azul, Dominion, 7 Wonders…
Social deduction games: Code Names, Chameleon, Werewords…
IMPORTANT:
1. While we love playing a variety of games and competing, we are not just about the games. We interact and talk while playing, and this leads to a lot of laughter and fun. If you just want to compete and focus solely on the game, then this is probably not the group you are looking for.
2. Many people join groups like this and never (or rarely) show up after weeks or months. If you join and never really come, we will eventually remove you from the group as a courtesy to our members. Why? Because limiting group conversations (on the app) to regular members makes communication and planning much easier. Also, while it may be rare, it protects members from people who join because they are interested in following a person instead of having a real interest in our group. If you get removed, it is just because you haven’t come, and we follow this protocol as a courtesy to our regular game players.
