The week feels endless and you can’t see the finish line? Friday blues hitting you hard? Come take a break with us and shake off the gloom of everyday life! **On the program:** chatting over a drink – or two – to get to know each other, social games
And if you want to practice your English (or any other language), don’t hesitate! Many internationals will be there, since we also meet to encourage cultural and language exchanges. An icebreaker game is suggested to meet more people – just ask the organizer. We’ll be a big group, often more than fifty people, so the idea is to talk to everyone – that’s the Friday concept, with the app :) Tall, short, slim, curvy, old, young, beautiful, not-so-beautiful – come as you are, we’ll welcome you with open arms. Two key words: friendliness and curiosity. Come at the time that suits you, but the earlier you arrive, the more you enjoy the vibe! **Practical info:** From 9pm until late into the night Free with the Socializus pass! đŸ„ Philosophical Brunch — Adult Friendship, Food & Real Conversations (English)
đŸ„ Philosophical Brunch — Adult Friendship, Food & Real Conversations (English)
đŸ„ **Philosophical Brunch — Are we loved for who we are — or for how we make others feel? (paid event)** *\*photos from previous session in french* Making friends as a child felt natural. As adults
it often feels surprisingly hard. **Philosophical Brunch** is a paid gathering where we slow down, share food, and explore together the questions that shape our lives — through thoughtful and honest conversation. This edition focuses on a question many people quietly wonder about: **Love ❀** **Are we loved for who we are — or for how we make others feel?** When someone says *“I love you”*, what exactly are they loving? The person as they truly are
or the emotions their presence creates in us? Do we fall in love with a person, or with the way we feel when we are with them? And if much of what we perceive of others is filtered through our own needs, desires, and projections
is it ever possible to love someone purely for who they are? Through a guided philosophical discussion, we’ll explore love beyond romantic clichĂ©s — reflecting on projection, perception, emotional needs, and the subtle ways we relate to others. This is a space to think together, but also to meet people who value genuine conversation. Guiding questions will be shared in advance in a **dedicated WhatsApp group** so everyone can arrive feeling comfortable and inspired. 🌿 **What to expect** * A guided philosophical discussion in English * A small group to encourage authentic exchanges * A warm, open, and respectful atmosphere * A shared brunch moment đŸ„â˜• * No academic background required — curiosity is enough This is not a lecture. It’s a real conversation. ✹ *Want to get a feel for the vibe? You can see previous events on TikTok:* [https://www.tiktok.com/@reflexions_france](https://www.eventbrite.fr/e/1983316950388?aff=oddtdtcreator) 🌍 **Who is this for?** * English speakers in Paris * Expats, internationals, travelers, and curious locals * People who enjoy meaningful conversations * Anyone wondering how to create deeper connections as an adult 📍 **Practical information** 📍 Location: Paris (exact location shared after registration by email) đŸ—“ïž Date: Saturday, January 21th ⏰ Time: 3:00 PM ⏳ Duration: approx. 2 hours đŸŽŸïž **Price: €20 (paid event)** The participation fee covers the facilitation and the experience. Brunch is paid individually at the cafĂ© — usually **between €15 and €30**, depending on what you order. **Registration via Eventbrite is required to confirm your spot :** [https://www.eventbrite.fr/e/philosophical-brunch-paris-meaningful-conversations-in-english-tickets-1984835338929?aff=oddtdtcreator](https://www.eventbrite.fr/e/1983316950388?aff=oddtdtcreator) ⚠ **Limited to 10 participants** to keep the atmosphere intimate and allow deeper conversations. Any problem with your reservation? Feel free to contact me directly on WhatsApp : [https://wa.me/33649853900](https://wa.me/33649853900) đŸ„ **Why a Philosophical Brunch?** Because meaningful friendships rarely start with small talk — they start with real conversations.

Deep Talk / In English
Deep Talk / In English
Let's have a weekly deep talk in an intimate Parisian cafĂ©, share a drink and have a good time with like-minded, lovely and chill people. ☕ We're here to sip life in a childish, simple and non-serious way. When was the last time you had a meaningful conversation? Or deepened your relationship with someone in your life? It's not easy to have a deep conversation. While small talk, which is typically casual and light-hearted, can help break the ice, it may not necessarily help you form a deep, emotional connection with someone. Whether it's with your friends, family, colleagues or romantic partners, having meaningful conversations is important for creating strong bonds. "Meaningful conversations help us understand ourselves and those around us better. They involve sharing important aspects of ourselves and actively listening, validating and connecting with others." We believe that a happy and healthy life is built on beautiful relationships and that loneliness kills us. That's it. It's not the number of friends that counts, it's the quality of the relationship. ✅ This group is adressed to : ● People who want to build deep, genuine and caring relationships in a small group that looks the same, where they feel comfortable and emotionally safe to talk emotionally and get intimate about anything in their lives. ● Simple, loving, kind, hyper/sensitive and lovely people who spend a lot of time in their bubble thinking about the meaning of life, passionate about personal development, philosophy, meaningful conversations, debates .... ⛔ Please don't subscribe if : ● You don't see yourself in the group's aims and beliefs. ● You're travelling for a short period of time and don't live or intend to live in Paris. ● You are not sure if you will be able to come, please update your status to allow others on the waiting list to join. An absence without notice will result in an irrevocable ban. Progress : ● ❗ For reservations, I'll send you a private Meetup message at least 5 hours before the meeting to confirm your reservation. If I don't receive a reply 2 hours before the meeting, I will send you a second message to let you know that you will be replaced by someone on the waitlist. ● We keep the session small, cosy and relaxed in a quiet place, prioritising regularity to encourage intimacy, connection, listening and speaking. (\~ 5/6 people) ● On arrival, if you feel comfortable, you will be suggested to choose and associate several drawn Feelings and Needs cards to express how you really feel at the moment, to talk about ourselves and communicate effectively. ● The best way to make progress is to make the conversation easy and natural, with everyone making an effort to suggest and write down what you want to talk about. You can write down your favourite topics/questions before the meeting. The meeting is participative and invite everyone if you feel comfortable being a leader and a power of suggestion. Anyway, to keep the meeting running smoothly, I'll animate the meeting to make sure the conversation doesn't get wild or boring and I wouldn't hesitate to reframe people. In case of lack of inspiration we have a lot of deep conversation question card game which can help to find interesting questions. ● (Not compulsory) After the meeting we can finish in a nearby restaurant for those who wish to relax or continue our conversation. Advice for a good moment : ● Leave your ego and mask at home, we are not here to impress anyone but to be ourselves with our strength, weakness, pride and shame. Come with an open/deep/emotional/complex thought and vulnerability. ● Ask open-ended questions and invite the other person to describe what a situation was like for them or how they felt. ● Don't hesitate to be vulnerable and share information about yourself if needed. Consider sharing personal information first to gain the other person's trust. ● Adopt an attitude of curiosity and genuine interest in what the other person is saying. Be thoughtful and try to put yourself in the other person's shoes so that you can see things from their perspective. Be truthful, caring and honest. ● Listen actively and ask follow-up questions. ● Be empathetic and offer emotional validation so that they feel seen and heard. It is forbidden to judge, but try to understand. ● ⏱ Be aware of your speaking time for Equally Speak. ● Be aware never to provoke political or religious ideologies, but to accept differences of belief. Advice on non-violent communication can be given in the meeting to learn not to unintentionally hurt anyone when requested or needed. ● Remember to maintain a safe, and benevolent environment. People who are considered to be disruptive, problematic or simply not in tune with the energy of the group will not be allowed to return. Finally, we're hug-friendly !!!

Vivre l'harmonie spirituelle
Vivre l'harmonie spirituelle

Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association: They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above. There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change. The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM. Afterwards some of us go to the Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup in progress to have a bit to eat or drink (http://www.meetup.com/omnipresentatheists/). Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since we will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes. The YMCA reserves the right to run background checks on volunteers. For questions, comment on this page or contact: Andrew, awhit12@yahoo.com, (614)937-5802 (cell). Please let Andrew know if you volunteer anytime other than our COUNT events so that he can count your hours toward our service record.
