A lot of women have said they want a space where they can actually meet and communicate properly, so this is a simple BSL social. It’s a group of women meeting at the bar, practising British Sign Language, chatting properly, and spending a couple of hours together. Most women come on their own. That’s completely normal here and we make sure you don’t feel awkward walking in. Women usually range from their 20s through to their 60s. It’s normally a mix of new and returning women, so you won’t be the only new person there. If you’re feeling nervous, that’s very common. The setup makes it easy to actually practise and communicate rather than just sit and watch. You can go at your own pace and join in as much or as little as you want. The group gradually builds signs over time, so regular attendance helps.
