(IN-PERSON) Fabric CI/CD & Intro to Fabric Data Pipelines
(IN-PERSON) Fabric CI/CD & Intro to Fabric Data Pipelines
**This is an In-Person Evening Session** Detailed information and registration can be found here : https://dataminds.be/fabric-cicd-intro-to-fabric-data-pipelines-in-person-ae/ ### Fabric CI/CD **Speaker**: Oliver De Vijt In Microsoft Fabric, deploying all items efficiently across environments requires a robust CI/CD strategy. While Fabric’s built-in deployment pipelines offer a no-code approach for basic promotion between workspaces, they lack flexibility, automation capabilities, and testing. In this session, we’ll dive deep into Fabric CI/CD practices, leveraging Git integration, the Fabric REST APIs, and the fabric-cicd Python library to automate the deployment of Fabric items such as semantic models, notebooks, dataflows, and reports. You’ll see how to design YAML-based Azure DevOps pipelines that deploy from source control into your Fabric development, test, and production workspaces, and even include steps to run and validate your models using Tabular Editor. By the end of this session, you’ll understand how to implement your own end-to-end CI/CD framework for Microsoft Fabric, even in Power BI Pro environments, using entirely free and open-source tools. ### Intro to Fabric (Data) Pipelines **Speakers**: Koen Verbeeck Fabric Pipelines, formerly known as Fabric Data Pipelines, is the low-code ELT (extract-load-transform) solution in Microsoft Fabric. With this tool, you can orchestrate various activities, such as reading data from various data sources, executing Spark notebooks, running SQL statements on your warehouse and so on. In the wider Azure Data Platform, Fabric Pipelines are a close sibling of Azure Data Factory and Synapse Pipelines. In this session, we’ll cover the following topics: * Intro to the various concepts of Fabric Pipelines (activities, connections, parameters, variables etc) * What are the differences with ADF and Synapse Pipelines? * Tips & tricks After the session, you’ll be able to start your own data engineering journey with Fabric Pipelines in Microsoft Fabric. Knowledge of general ETL concepts are a plus when attending this presentation.

Join & Play! December 18
Join & Play! December 18
Our traditional "Join & Play" event is on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Thursdays of each month. As always, it's free to come & play with us. How does it work ? • The events are open for beginner to advanced gamers. If you're new here they're the perfect gateway to discover what we do! • Those who want to host a game are asked to share in the comments below which game, & for how many players you can run your table. • For others, if you see a game you'd like to join just respond to the host in the comments below and we'll reserve a spot for that game for you. • Don't worry if you're new to boardgames or simply don't know the games being hosted this time around; you can simply show up and the event host will sort out a spot at a table for you! **But please make sure to arrive by 19h30 *at the latest* so we can take the time to find you a suitable spot.** • The rules for the games will be explained by the table host before the game starts. No need to study them upfront, although several hosts post a video link to rules or background which can enhance your enjoyment of the game if you have the time to watch beforehand. This is never mandatory, however. ============================================== Games on the night: **\-\-\-\- [EVERDELL](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/199792/everdell) \-\-\-\-** Spot 1: Geraldine (host) Spot 2: Pierre Spot 3: Tomasz Spot 4: Aonghus **\-\-\-\- [PAN-AM](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/303057/pan-am) \-\-\-\-** Spot 1: Mislav (host) Spot 2: Spot 3: Spot 4: **\-\-\-\- [Kingdom Crossing](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/437245/kingdom-crossing) \-\-\-\-** Spot 1: Jeroen (host) Spot 2: Arthur Spot 3: Do Spot 4: **\-\-\-\- [Inferno](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/393165/inferno) \-\-\-\-** Spot 1: Peter/bufferunderflow (host) Spot 2: Yarince Spot 3: Sa Spot 4: Cerebral
Before J&P: Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition
Before J&P: Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition
***Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition*** is an engine-building game in which players control interplanetary corporations with the goal of making Mars habitable (and profitable). You will do this by investing **mega credits (MC)** into project cards that will directly or indirectly contribute to the terraforming process. In order to win, you will want to accumulate a high **terraform rating (TR)** and as many **victory points (VP)** as you can. Players raise their TR by increasing global parameters: **oceans, oxygen, and temperature.** TR also determines each corporation's basic income, and, at the end of the game TR counts as VP. Additional VP and production capabilities are awarded for building project cards and other actions taken during the game. The game is played in rounds, and each round the players will choose one of five phases, which determines which activities will take place during that round. This means every round is different, but can consist of building new project cards, taking general and project-specific actions, producing income and resources **(plants and heat)**, or researching to draw more project cards. Every player will take all the phases selected for the round, and will receive a special bonus during the phase that they selected. **To speed up the game, within each phase, players can act simultaneously without waiting for each other!** The game board has tracks for oxygen, temperature, and terraform rating, as well as a place for all of the ocean tiles that will be flipped over the course of the game. The game ends when there is enough oxygen to breath (14%), oceans enough to allow Earth-like weather (9), and the temperature is well above freezing (+8°C). It will then be possible, if not comfortable, to live on the surface of Mars! The winner is the player with the most VP at the end of the game.

Mental Health Meetup: Grief and Joy During the Holidays
Mental Health Meetup: Grief and Joy During the Holidays
In 2025, IHL conducted a survey to understand how internationals in Leuven and the surrounding areas were doing. One thing internationals mentioned they needed more of was mental health support. So we are launching Mental Health Meetups at IHL. Each month, different topics will be featured relating to mental health. The events will be hosted by mental health professionals, bringing their expertise to the international community. These events will be in a variety of formats. Some will be informational, conversational, interactive, etc. It's a safe space to participate how you would like (active or passive). **Theme for this event:** *Grief and Joy During the Holidays* Being far from "home" has unique benefits and challenges any time of the year, but for some of us the twinkling lights of the winter season press on the pain points of our longing and loneliness quite forcefully. As the days get darker and the wind colder, we find a moment to build our own community. This evening holds a small group format that adapts to the needs of those participating. We seek to create safety and warmth and to come together to share our sorrow and our joy. You do not need to have prior group therapy experience to attend, but a willingness to share, try something new, and empathize with others are all helpful.

HTML5 Master Series (Class 01 of 04) (SPECIAL OFFERING)
HTML5 Master Series (Class 01 of 04) (SPECIAL OFFERING)
**PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT NOTES:** 1. The dates listed for this series are about 95% reliable. We are completing our 2026 schedule as we speak, so minor adjustments are still occurring. 2. Each class in this series has an attendance fee, though this first offering is free on a first-come, first-served basis. 3. Each class, from BOTH a sign-up and fee perspective, is a separate entity. **Introduction:** HTML5 is the foundational technology for modern web development, serving as the standard markup language for structuring and presenting content on the World Wide Web. Developed through a collaboration between the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG), HTML5 provides a robust system of elements (tags) that tell a browser how to display text, images, and multimedia in a clear and meaningful way. It works in concert with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for presentation and JavaScript for interactivity, forming the core technology stack for virtually all websites and many web applications today. One of the significant advancements of HTML5 is the introduction of powerful new features and elements designed to improve functionality and simplify development. Key additions include native multimedia support via the \ and \ tags, allowing developers to embed media without third-party plugins. It also offers new form controls for better user input, such as date and email types, and introduces web storage capabilities to store data offline for enhanced performance. These features streamline the process of building rich, interactive web experiences. A significant focus of HTML5 is enhanced semantics and better structural organization of content. New semantic elements like , , , , and \ provide meaningful structure to documents, which aids in search engine optimization (SEO) and improves accessibility for assistive technologies. These elements define different parts of a webpage (e.g., a header for the top, a nav for navigation links, a footer for the bottom), making the code more readable and understandable for both developers and machines. This emphasis on clear structure helps in creating more logical and maintainable websites. Developing websites in today's competitive environment requires taking advantage of every technique you can to get the maximum exposure possible. Our HTML5 class will not only show you what's new in the HTML specification, but also the best way to develop optimized web pages that get the attention your client and/or company requires. **The breakdown of the four-class series is as follows:** **Class 1: Introduction to Web Structure and Basic HTML5** This class introduces the core concepts of web development, the history of HTML, and the fundamental structure of an HTML5 document. * **Topics**: * **Web Architecture Overview**: How browsers, servers, and web pages interact. * **HTML Fundamentals**: Understanding elements, tags, and attributes. * **Basic Document Structure**: Using !DOCTYPE html, html, head, and body. * **Text Formatting**: Headings (h1 to h6), paragraphs (p), and text-level semantics (e.g., strong, em, br). * **Lists and Links**: Creating ordered (ol) and unordered (ul) lists, and linking between pages using anchor tags (a). * **Activity**: Students create a basic personal webpage containing text, a list of hobbies, and a link to an external website. **Class 2: Semantic HTML5 and Multimedia Integration** Class 2 focuses on modern HTML5 elements that provide meaning (semantics) to content, improving accessibility and search engine optimization. It also covers adding images and multimedia. * **Topics**: * **Semantic Elements**: Understanding and implementing elements like header, footer, nav, section, and article. * **Images**: Adding images using the img tag and attributes like src, alt, width, and height. * **Multimedia**: Embedding audio and video content using the audio and video tags. * **File and Folder Structure**: Best practices for organizing project files and managing file paths. * **Activity**: Students refactor their Class 1 project to use a proper semantic layout and add an image and a link to a video file. **Class 3: Forms and User Input** This session is dedicated to building interactive HTML5 forms, which are essential for capturing user data and input. * **Topics**: * **Form Basics**: Using the form element, action and method attributes. * **Input Types**: Exploring various input types (e.g., text, password, checkbox, radio, date, submit). * **Form Elements**: Utilizing label, textarea, select, option, and button. * **Client-side Validation**: Implementing HTML5 validation attributes like required, minlength, and pattern. * **Activity**: Students build a complete contact form with different input fields, radio buttons, and basic HTML5 validation. **Class 4: Introduction to CSS3 and Basic Styling** The final class introduces Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to style the HTML content and make the web pages visually appealing and accessible. * **Topics**: * **CSS Fundamentals**: The role of CSS, selectors, properties, and values. * **Integrating CSS**: Using inline, internal, and external style sheets. * **The Box Model**: Understanding margin, padding, border, and content for basic layout. * **Basic Styling**: Changing colors, fonts, and text alignment. * **Accessibility Basics**: Identifying principles of web design usability and accessibility, including ARIA labels. * **Activity**: Students apply an external CSS file to their Class 3 form project to style the layout, colors, and fonts, culminating in a well-structured and styled webpage.

HTML5 Master Series (Class 02 of 04) (SPECIAL OFFERING)
