Cinematek : L’udienza
Cinematek : L’udienza
Silent Walk in the Forêt de Soignes
Silent Walk in the Forêt de Soignes
We will be walking through the forest for a little over 1 1/2 hours, silently, just noticing the world around us and inside us. The idea is to experience the magic of a different type of walking, The invitation is to slow down and notice what is going on inside you and around you. Very often people experience a closer connection with nature and with self, with sometimes surprising insights. *Please make sure you are fit enough to go the 4.5 km distance. We will be walking slowly, but we will not take any breaks.* We will be meeting at the Hermann Debroux Metro at **14h**. (Exit straight ahead after leaving the platform--on the Loxam side). If you RSVP as coming, please be on time. We will be starting our walk from there 5 min. after the hour sharp. There is the renovated Maison de Prieur at the exit of the forest where we could gather for a drink or a meal after our walk, depending on what you feel like. Looking forward to an inward adventure? Come and join us on **Saturday, April 4, at 14h** My phone number is 0472 92 11 76, in case you need to communicate with me.
Bluebells: Hike Brussels (Ukkel) - Halle: 25 km
Bluebells: Hike Brussels (Ukkel) - Halle: 25 km
It’s 10 years ago that I organized my first Meetup hike, around that time of year, in the Halle “bluebell” forest, close to where I live. So it’s time for an anniversary hike, in the same area, a bit earlier in the year as the bluebells are earlier this year. This forest is very known for the bluebells and will be crowded but it’s worth it. Besides, only a part of the whole hike is in the forest and we’ll be away from the crowds for the rest of it. We start in Brussels (station Ukkel-Kalevoet) and follow the GR12 Amsterdam – Brussels – Paris for quite a while, all through Drogenbos and Beersel to approach Halle forest in Dworp. We go to the main bluebells area and then get out of the forest and walk towards Halle through some other smaller forests and parks. A drink at the end is a long-standing tradition, optional of course. **Meeting point:** Ukkel-Kalevoet station in Brussels (in front of the station building), at 9h30. Besides a train arriving from Brussels-Nord/Central/Midi at 9h23, it’s also a stop of tram 18 and busses 43 and 60. Back from Halle to Brussels there are 3 trains per hour to Midi/Central/Nord (less than usual due to works on the track), but there are also replacement busses and De Lijn busses to south or west of Brussels. **Walking pace / difficulty:** 4-5 km/h on average while walking. Paved roads are avoided as much as possible, and I expect it to be muddy, that’s part of the charm. Regular pauses: roughly 10 min every 1 – 1,5 hour, longer at lunch (picnic somewhere on our way). It should be doable for everybody in reasonable physical condition. It’s not a race, it’s for enjoyment. Don’t make it a race, if you want to walk fast, you’d better choose another event or go on your own. We walk in group. **What to take**: decent hiking shoes, picnic, enough water, clothing adapted to the weather (including rain protection). **Weather:** The hike will take place in any weather, unless it is unsafe to do so (heavy rain/wind). Nothing in the current forecast points in that direction. **RSVP rules:** In order to give everyone the opportunity to see the announcement and plan their participation, RSVP opens at a specific moment: Wednesday 01/04 at 21h (it’s not a joke). Be ready at that moment and you’re in (afterwards, it might fill up fast as I intentionally keep the group size small). The first people on the waiting list have a pretty good chance to get in the following days, keep an eye on the Meetup notifications. If you decide not to come, be considerate to the other hikers and cancel sufficiently in advance to give someone else a chance to join. Do not show up if you’re not on the going list. All this is done in order to keep things organized and give a pleasant experience to me and the group. Please respect the rules. You are responsible for your own safety and for your own actions at any moment during the event. The organizers are volunteers who propose an activity to share with other interested people on their personal initiative, and cannot be held responsible in case of accident. Taking part in the event means you agree to this.

What's up Friends! 👋
Ready for some bouldering fun? Boulder-what? 🤔 It’s climbing (FR: escalade, le bloc) up to 4.5m high without ropes—and in my case, without much hope! 😂✨ It’s a super fun indoor activity, but be warned: it does require a certain level of physical fitness and/or skill. Most importantly, though, it requires awesome company—which we’ve got! 😎
The Idea: 📍 Meeting Point: For those arriving at 17:00, we’ll meet at the cafeteria (next to the billiards table). Feel free to start earlier or later—just drop me a message or write in the group chat so we can meet up. 💪 Stay & climb as long as you want - venue closes at midnight! 🥤 Recharge: If you’ve had enough climbing for the day (we usually do this after 2 hours of climbing), we may head back to the cafeteria (or to the rooftop if it's sunny🌤️) for snacks, drinks & games. Cafeteria closes at 22:00. Where: 📍Arkose: (Brussels Canal) Rue Willy de Bruyn Straat 52, 1000 Bruxelles, Belgique 🔗 https://arkose.com/

Fees: 🤑Entry fee without shoes: - 18 eur (first-timers 10€ with online promo activated) - reduced rates: students, minors, job seekers, firefighters, military (proof required) 👟 Shoe Rental: 5€ (if you don’t have your own) 🎫 10-session pass: 150€
Good to Know: ✍️ First-timers need to create an account (takes 5min) - do it in advance and pay online to pay less and avoid wasting time onsite 💦 Hydration is key! Bring a water bottle. 🔐 Lockers available, but bring your own padlock. 🚿 Changing rooms & showers on-site. 👕 Wear comfy sports clothes—it gets intense! 🧴 Only liquid magnesium is allowed (for grip) - in reality most people use powder🤫 👟 Thinking of going regularly? Bouldering shoes are a great investment! (Decathlon: ~45-65€ per pair.)

⚠️ Safety First! Bouldering is fun, but safety comes first! Stay alert, know your limits, and don’t take unnecessary risks. Enjoy responsibly! 💪
📢 Further details may be shared via the group chat or via DM 💬. Make sure to check your messages 👀 at least on the day before the event to avoid missing critical 🙄 announcements. 🐈‍⬛ The Friends Code:

Bad Girls Book Club April 2026
Bad Girls Book Club April 2026
**Our April novel is: *The Hong Kong Widow* by Kristen Loesch** **This month’s novel blends gothic atmosphere with historical fiction and chilling horror, set against the haunting backdrop of China. The book is 368 pages in print and 10 hours and 42 minutes on audiobook.** In 1950s Hong Kong, Mei is a young refugee of the Chinese Communist revolution struggling to put her past in Shanghai behind her. When she receives a shocking invitation—to take part in a competition in one of the city's most notorious haunted houses, pitting six spirit mediums against one another in a series of six séances over six nights, until a single winner emerges—she has every reason to refuse. Except that the hostess, a former Shanghainese silent film star, is none other than the wife of the man who once destroyed Mei’s entire life. It is promised the winner will receive a fortune, but there is only one prize Mei wants: revenge. Decades later, the final night of that competition has become an infamous urban legend: The police were called to the scene of a brutal massacre but found no evidence, dismissing it as a collective hallucination. Mei knows what she saw, but now someone else is convinced they know what she did. She must uncover the truth about the last night she ever spent in that house—even if the ghosts of her past are waiting for her there. . . .

The Fellowship of the Star Schema: Transforming OLTP Data for Power BI One does not simply build reports on OLTP data. Join us on an epic journey from the depths of raw, normalized tables to the shining halls of a well-modeled star schema fit for Power BI greatness. We will demystify the differences between OLTP and OLAP, walk through star schema vs snowflake (and why Power BI has a clear favorite), and show you the compression differences between normalized and columnar storage that will make you never look at an OLTP model the same way again. We will cover the different types of dimensions, when to use them, and how to handle Slowly Changing Dimensions without losing your mind. You will leave knowing exactly how to identify a bad model, how to convert OLTP data into a clean star schema, and how to forge relationships that rule them all. Whether you are a data wizard, a curious hobbit, or somewhere in between, your models will never be the same.
