We start at Oosterbeek train station at dusk and reach the "Heavenly Mountain" (Hemelse Berg), pausing briefly to reflect on the year. From there we descend to the "Origination Creek" (Oorsprongsbeek) and its mini waterfall, where we light our candles and symbolically let go of the past before walking under the waterfall for a beautiful moment. The trail continues quietly along the Nederrijn, passing the moonlit Doorwerth Castle. After 12 kilometres we arrive at De Beekdalhoeve for a warm and inviting dinner. Lanterns lit once more, we follow the river plains and the Wageningse Berg to Wageningen bus station, where the hike ends. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing.
