***Talk Abstract***
Regulatory reporting often comes with a large list of requirements (in our case, an 80-page document full of them) alongside specific and complex business logic as a given. With a large volume of sensitive data to handle, we wanted a solution that would help keep our data within the same environment - hence the choice to explore Openflow as an option to facilitate our delivery to regulators. This session will cover what it took for our team to go from no prior knowledge or experience of Openflow to deploying a production-ready system with it. Demonstrations, What Went Wells, Pitfalls, and what we’d do differently next time!
***Speaker Bio***
Lucie graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in Computer Science in 2023 and joined the Sigma Labs graduate scheme in January 2024. After a 15-week coding fundamentals course, she specialised in Data Engineering, and then placed at Entain in June 2024. Having been exposed to a wide range of tools and platforms since, Lucie has since been tasked with leading the charge for her team to adopt Snowflake Openflow into the tech stack.

Microsoft Fabric now has a built-in graph database. So do you still need Neo4j?
In this session we put Fabric Graph and Neo4j Aura head to head. Not as a marketing exercise, but as a practical decision guide. We’ll cover where Fabric Graph earns its place as a zero-friction, OneLake-native option for connected data, and where Neo4j Aura pulls ahead on query maturity, algorithm depth, and production readiness. **Synopsis:** Full-stack development can be intimidating, especially when going beyond the typical CRUD. A reactive application with real-time updates requires knowing things like WebSockets on top of the regular frontend stuff. But what if you could build a full-featured full-stack web app using only straightforward Java? No JavaScript, no HTML, no CSS. Just Java.
Join this live coding session to discover how to develop a reactive web app using Spring Boot, Redis and Vaadin. Starting from scratch, we'll cover everything: real-time updates, external services, and a good-looking UI. All in Java.

Like it or not, AI agents are now capable of turning a quickly written paragraph of requirements into a pull request that is ready to be integrated into real-world production applications and it's now our responsibility to make sure AI doesn't go rogue and take down prod - or corrupt our data by misunderstanding the requirements or our existing schemas. In this session we'll explore strategies to protect our codebases through unit and integration testing, documentation, and code review along with additional ways of providing context and guard rails to our AI agents as they carry out the work we've assigned them to do. By the time we're done, you'll have a firm grasp of the problem and understand some helpful options for protecting your codebase from vibe coding mishaps getting YOLOed into prod.
