Come and join us for an evening of Buddhist meditation with like-minded people. The doors open at 7:00 PM, and meditation begins promptly at 7:15 PM. The meditation will last between 30 to 40 minutes, followed by tea and biscuits for anyone who would like to stay and chat. On some evenings, there will also be a short Dharma talk to provide some Buddhist context. The meditation space is down at the canal. To get there, you can take the stairs down. Join us for some focused writing time. All writers and all experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area. When you show up, say hello to everyone, grab a drink, and get your writing tools ready. Once you’re all settled, take some time to chat with your fellow writers. Once everyone’s arrived, I will lead quick introductions and then set the timer for our quiet and focused writing session. Afterward, we’ll have time to chat and get to know each other. We often talk about our successes and challenges as writers. ## (Lesson 2) ## What to expect Project Equilibrium is an in-person introduction to disciplined, rule-based trading automation. Philosophical discussions about fundamental human questions. It’s not a lecture! It’s participants like you who make the discussion a success, organizers just facilitate it. We bring our most puzzling questions - along with creativity, curiosity and genuine interest to enrich ourselves with perspectives of others. This usually makes Socrates Café event a truly inspiring one for people with very different backgrounds. We discuss, we inquire, we think aloud - respect is the main rule. Communication is something we do every day, yet so many of our conversations leave us misunderstood, defensive, or stuck in unproductive patterns. *The Next Conversation* challenges the way we argue, listen, and respond, offering a practical and thoughtful perspective on how small shifts in language and intention can completely change the outcome of an interaction. Together, we’ll explore what makes conversations escalate or shut down, reflect on our own communication habits, and discuss how learning to argue less and talk more can lead to clearer boundaries, stronger relationships, and more meaningful dialogue both at work and in our personal life. **Important note:** while it’s not mandatory to have read the book to participate, it’s advisable to have at least read/listened to a summary of the same, so there can be an informed and balanced group discussion of the topics. We keep the number of attendees low (20-ish) to create a more intimate atmosphere with a diverse crowd. Cafe Lust is a cozy, low-key neighborhood bar. We've been organizing meetups here since 2021. We're *usually* the only large group in the bar, but you can always ask the bartenders if you can't find us. Think of this less as an event and more as just a group of friends and acquaintances hanging out over drinks. This also means you don't need to show up exactly on time, but we usually leave around 11. We ask people to pay for their drinks immediately at the bar, as keeping a tab for up to twenty people gets challenging - people have (accidentally or not) ran away from their bill in the past. This year marks the arrival of the Fire Horse (赤马) -- a sign associated with vitality, movement, courage, and renewal. Through traditional Chinese ink painting, we explore an artistic process rooted in balance and flow: * not to control the brush, but to follow it * not to decorate, but to cultivate presence Ink painting is about energy, breath, and intention -- each stroke reflecting the state of the mind.
