Notre meet-up réunit une fois par semaine anglophiles et francophiles de plus de cinquante ans afin de discuter de tout et de rien. The goal is to offer each of us the chance to practice whichever language he/she is learning, or just to have a conversation in either language with a friendly group in a relaxing atmosphere. Join us for a long pose workshop with a female model, led by figurative artist John Kelly. The session consists of 45 minutes of drawing or painting, followed by a 15-minute break, and then another 45 minutes with the same pose. John will be present throughout the entire session to offer individual guidance on the principles of drawing and painting from life. If you prefer a more self-directed approach, you are welcome to work independently at any time. The workshop is suitable for both beginners and more experienced artists. It offers a supportive environment to develop your artistic style while exploring different aspects of academic drawing or painting, experimenting with new techniques, or refining compositional ideas. It's designed to guide your exploration of the human form through an anatomical lens while capturing the model's emotional presence. As always, posing for you are professional fine art models affiliated with the Beaux-Arts de Paris and other Parisian life drawing ateliers. Please bring your preferred art materials. Did you know that unwanted emotions like anxiety, depression, unhappiness, loneliness, hopelessness, anger, fear, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not due to a chemical imbalance in your brain from some nebulous chemical reaction "by chance". Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. The Fellowship of the Star Schema: Transforming OLTP Data for Power BI One does not simply build reports on OLTP data. Join us on an epic journey from the depths of raw, normalized tables to the shining halls of a well-modeled star schema fit for Power BI greatness. We will demystify the differences between OLTP and OLAP, walk through star schema vs snowflake (and why Power BI has a clear favorite), and show you the compression differences between normalized and columnar storage that will make you never look at an OLTP model the same way again. We will cover the different types of dimensions, when to use them, and how to handle Slowly Changing Dimensions without losing your mind. You will leave knowing exactly how to identify a bad model, how to convert OLTP data into a clean star schema, and how to forge relationships that rule them all. Whether you are a data wizard, a curious hobbit, or somewhere in between, your models will never be the same.
