A Poetry Workshop
Hey Poetry Lovers!
This group is on a roll. Here’s the gist:
We meet at the **Capital One Café in Chinatown** from **12pm - 2pm** every other week.
For enrichment, we start by reading and reflecting on a **“published poem”**, suggested by someone in the group. No advance preparation is necessary. But feel free to check out some of the poems we’ve read [here](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vSyE_wCLQCPHRrKmN5F9tOIeeRQUZESxjRXGVBoCF2uU8Gm0_d0uECiCBCQXEy6ksxfsBOhtRIOpW3T/pubhtml?gid=0&single=true&widget=true&headers=false%22%3E%3C/iframe%3E). Or submit suggestions for future meetings [here](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSexGc2Z2Kp6bZW0D3_hfJ7NUUkfNHf7TXX-43FglCeBd9EF2Q/viewform?usp=send_form).
Next, we **share our work and offer feedback**. Depending on attendance, everyone gets \~10 minutes to use as they like. (No need to share, though; you’re welcome to come even if you prefer just to listen.)
We maintain a **Discord server** to help share our work and communicate outside our bi-weekly meet-ups. If you haven’t used Discord before, take a moment to download it and create an account before arriving. When we meet you on Saturday, we will add you to our server, the “DC Poetry Workshop”, and can help you navigate the app if you have questions.
Finally, if you plan on sharing a poem, consider how you will do so. Some options include:
* Print 5-10 copies to distribute in person
* Take and share screenshots in the Discord chat.
* Copy the poem into a google doc, change sharing settings to “anyone with link”, and copy the google doc link into the Discord chat.
Most importantly, we’re excited to meet you!
Catch you on Saturday,
Diego / Ian / Cayden / Nate / Otasha / Lia / An

Shoo Shoo O Winter Blues: Cards and Games at Cleveland Park Library
Want someplace nice and quiet to hang, with good company and good food after? Then come to the Cleveland Park Library at 3310 Connecticut Ave NW in Washington, DC! Just blocks away from the Cleveland Park Metro on the Red Line, the library is located in a safe and accessible neighborhood. I will post any service changes next week. If you have trouble finding the place or are running late, please call or text me at 202-802-3238.
We are meeting in the large conference room on the second floor.
LUNCH
Fat Pete's BBQ, located at 3407 Connecticut Ave NW (across the street and a block over from the library), has great food for every taste. Yes, this means they have many other things besides BBQ!
More importantly, the owner is autism-friendly. He personally gave me his cell number and told me to call him before we come over. He'll let me know if the place is quiet or noisy at a particular time. If the place is too noisy, there are other places to eat as well.
LIBRARY POLICIES
Per fire code, we can only have a maximum of 20 people. Don't worry; if you end up on the waitlist, you can still join us for lunch afterwards!
Per library policies, eating is prohibited. Covered drinks are permitted.
Please do not photograph people without their permission.
You can bring games if you like. I'm bringing my UNO deck, along with my Powerpuff Girls board game.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
I will take a COVID test before coming. If I am sick or test positive, I'm staying home. If I test negative and am well, I will be there. The event will still happen in either case.
If the weather forecast calls for sleet, significant snow accumulations, ice, and/or wintry mix, I'm cancelling the event. Safety first!
See you soon,
Jenny

The 5Rhythms® of Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness form ‘The Wave’, a simple movement meditation practice that encourages us to find our own movement into presence and embodiment, discovering ourselves at our most fluid and creative level. The Rhythms are different ways of moving that are related to different ways of being in the world. As we practice them, we bring more of ourselves –body, heart, mind & soul- into movement, on the dance floor & out in the world. There are no steps to learn and it can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of age, fitness, ability, or experience.
Our dance is an individual and collective experience. How much you choose to interact with other dancers is up to you. We ask only that you come with a heartful respect for yourself and every other person on the floor. The 5Rhythms teacher is here to help take you deeper into the experience, when you’re ready.
There are no steps to learn. 5Rhythms can be practiced by anyone regardless of age, fitness, ability, or experience. For more information about what to expect in your first 5Rhythms class, see https://www.annkite.com/about.
Tarot Pratice!
Let's get together again and practice our Tarot card and pendulums.
This is for beginners through advanced readers to practice their skills.
Everyone will get to do a reading. There will be extra decks and pendulums if you do not have some. We will try different layouts and share our experiences. All fun!
There will be another class starting at noon for the library if you want to stay and keep practicing.
See you there!

In-Person Event: The Answers to Depression & Anxiety
This is an in-person meeting. At this meeting you will get answers to depression and anxiety. Find out the source of them and how to get rid of them.
Did you know that unwanted emotions like anxiety, depression, unhappiness, loneliness, hopelessness, anger, fear, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not due to a chemical imbalance in your brain from some nebulous chemical reaction "by chance".
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is created by the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Central Ohio and Church of Scientology of Central Ohio.
