Hello Rockers! Let's get together and jam out some top hits since the new millennium (since 1/1/2000) at Crescendo Studios in Falls Church, VA. This will be a new venue for our jams and will probably be more accommodating to access for many of our DC Rockers members. The studio is located near the Mosaic District in Merrifield on the eastbound side of Lee Highway (US-29). We'll be in Studio A on the first floor of the studio which is mostly-equipped with a drum kit, keyboard, sound system, amps and mics. Attendees will be expected to bring their own instruments but should not need to bring amps or speakers. MOST IMPORTANT POINTS: 1. If you have copies of Rise Up Singing and Rise Again, please bring them. If you don't, we may have some extras available for you to borrow (one time only, please). Both books are easy to find and order online. 2. Feel free to bring lyrics and chords to hand out for songs not in the book. If you'd like to bring a song that most people don't know well, see if you can find a YouTube link and post it in the comments when you RSVP. We'd like to listen a few times before the SOJO to get the hang of it. 3. Bring something to drink, as singing is likely to make you thirsty. 4. We appreciate but do not require, any contributions ($5, or whatever) to help pay for the rent at the chapel. 5. Please do RSVP. It allows us to contact you if we have to cancel. *** * Our regular gatherings take place on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. You can come for the whole time or just part of it. Occasionally we take pictures of our events. If you would rather not be photographed, just politely let the person with the camera know and step out of view. We'll be very respectful of your wishes. They have a 4.7 rating and food trucks (until 7 pm), and they make special Pizza this Saturday. Wine is currently available **by the bottle, glass, 3-wine flight, and guided 5-wine tasting. A guided 5-wine tasting costs $22 per person, and it is a seated experience in their tasting room. Local snacks and charcuterie also available in their tasting room. It's not too far to drive home on the back roads so take it slow going home or get a designated driver (carpool) or take Uber/Lyft. **SAT Feb 28th from 12:15-1:15pm** Learn a fun arrangement for ukulele in the pop, rock, + folk realms. Maureen will provide two different sheets - one arrangement for beginner players (who know 3-4 chords) and another arrangement for intermediate players. This way, everyone wins! Beginners can push their skills with chord changes and intermediate players can enjoy tinkering with riffs and engaging in new strum and picking patterns. Bree Fram is celebrating her birthday, at Freddie's with Karaoke and more. Bree has been a long time member of DCATS and has been a flag been a flag bearer for our community for over 15 years. Bree is now running for Congress, in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This Sunday, she's holding a fundraiser for her campaign, and celebrating her birthday at Freddie's. Bree has invited everyone, to come join her, and help support her campaign. Bree will there, to see old friends, say "Hi", make new friends, celebrate her birthday and of course sing some Karaoke. For those ladies, living in Virginia, Bree would enjoy taking time to talk to you about her views and her run for Congress. In this monthly workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of proper vocal technique and practice singing in harmony with others. Each class will focus on different vocal exercises and aspects of vocal technique, including breath control, diaphragmatic support, upper and lower register, vocal placement and blending, vocal agility, engaging vocal performance, and more.
