**Hi my name is Pierre**
I created this Meetup group because I want to see more human connection happen in the real world. I feel many of us want this, but don't exactly know how to go about it. I hope this helps a little bit.
I also work as a transformational coach: I help people who feel stuck in their life to reconnect with themselves, create real change and ultimately live more fulfilling lives.

Hello!
My name is Tanya. I am a Ukrainian, who came to Sweden in February. In Ukraine, I taught knitting classes and made knitted clothes.
I will be happy, if I can find people, who love to knit, and share my experience with them in this country.
Knitting courses from basic skills to advanced techniques.
Classes are held in groups (up to 10 people). One lesson lasts 90 minutes.
As a knitting teacher, I have 10 years of experience. Individual approach to students makes this course interesting for both beginners and experienced knitters.
Here you can see, what my students and I did - https://www.facebook.com/melangstore/
For the first lesson you need knitting needles No. 3/3.5 and yarn 150m/50gram.

Get together and write
We're a group of writers that meets up every Sunday for a productive writing session.
**Here's how the meetup works:**
* We gather together, grab some fika, and then we write for an hour.
* After the hour is up, we spend some time chatting, sharing ideas and thoughts on writing, and discussing the challenges we've come across.
The goal is to **commit to working on your writing project for a set amount of time, all while** **connecting with other writers** and being motivated by the energy of creative minds working hard on their individual projects.
You'll have the chance to share your work and receive valuable feedback (if you so wish) or simply enjoy the company of like-minded individuals.

We're here, **same place, same time, every week.** So if you're feeling up to it, drop by and let's get writing!

Contra dance with Big Scioty on Jan 3 - First Congregational Church
**Caller: Gaye Fifer**
**Band: Hot Coffee Breakdown**
**Big Scioty Contra Dance**
**temporarily returning to our long ago location for Jan-March - First Congregational Church, 444 E. Broad St., Columbus 43215**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like youâve seen in period films such as âPride and Prejudiceâ, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. Thatâs English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like âswing your partnerâ and âdo-si-do,â like youâve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alĂĄ âRiverdance.â Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THATâs Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/)
Please bring your own refillable water bottle. Snacks to share are always welcome!
Live Music - Fabulous J Bros!
We'll start with social time over drinks from 8:00-9:00pm. Then we'll get funky with a great live MJ/Bruno Mars/Prince style cover band, the [Fabulous Johnson Brothers](http://www.thefabulousjohnsonbrothers.com/) (they even have a horn section)!
***No cover***. Attire: dressy casual.
**FOOD AND DRINK**\*: Drinks. No food service. Bring your own or order in.\* As usual, I'll have a basket of SNACKS on hand.
Parking in lots surrounding the big red barn (property community center off Hayden Run). [[https://livethebarn.com](https://livethebarn.com/)]
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for January is "Chemistry"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 7:00 pm, show starts at 7:30 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
2026 Kick-Off: SONG SUNG BLUE or ANACONDA at Lennox Phoenix Theater!
Join us as we kick the New Year with a fun Happy Hour and your choice of two fun, new films! Option 1 is the biographical-musical-docu-drama, SONG SUNG BLUE, which stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson in the story about a real-life couple and Neil Diamond Tribute Duo. Option 2 is the comedy-action-adventure ACACONDA, which stars Jack Black and Paul Rudd as part of a group of friends remaking a favorite movie from their youth. Hereâs a complete description, trailer and our plan for this event:
SONG SUNG BLUE: The film follows Lightning and Thunder, a Milwaukee husband and wife Neil Diamond tribute act, who experience success and heartbreak in their musical journey together. Not a tribute to Neil Diamond, but a tribute to a Neil Diamond Tribute Band! The film is based on the 2008 documentary of the same name and is directed by Craig Brewer. It stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, along with Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Hudson Hensley, Fisher Stevens and Jim Belushi. Critics call the film, âa crowd-pleaser with a ton of heart!â TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCM0Ztp3o1o
ANACONDA: In this action-thriller-comedy-adventure, a group of friends going through a mid-life crisis head to the jungle to remake a favorite movie from their youth but encounter âunexpected events.â The film is directed by Tom Gormican and stars Jack Black, Paul Rudd, Selton Mello, Daniela Melchior, Thandiwe Newton and Steve Zahn. The film is a reimagining of the 1997 original. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMsFsfrPNaw
PLAN: Weâll kick off the event with a pre-show Happy Hour at nearby Bravo! Weâll confirm the details and exact meeting time once we get the showtimes, but planning for 5 to 5:30pm for the Happy Hour and a 7pm-ish showing of both films. For the movies, weâll meet inside the lobby area about 20 minutes before showtimes! Once showtimes are announced, advance ticket purchase is advised. Once you have yours, please list your Movie of Choice and seat number in the Comments below. Complete details will be confirmed and announced as the date gets closer.
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
Making care packages for unhoused folks
We're collaborating with Westerville Queer Collective to gather supplies and pack care packages. Head over to their event page to [register](https://www.meetup.com/meetup-group-wroejsfn/events/312453970/) officially.
Weâll be assembling care packages with food, warm weather supplies, recreational items like books, and resource guides for local unhoused folks. Packages will then be delivered to HEER2SERVE, local nonprofit that has weekly âservesâ, when they go out into local encampment areas and deliver needed items and food. Our care packages will be a part of that.
WQC will supply containers and food items for the care packages. So this time we are primarily focusing on gathering donations for keeping warm, including up to 50 of the following items:
Clean or new socks, hats, scarves and gloves
Handwarmers
Sanitizing wipes
Lighters
You are welcome to contribute items or just come and help pack. Leave a comment if you are bringing donations. We can also accept money donations through WQC.
Oscar Watch International: THE SECRET AGENT at the Gateway Film Center!
Join us as we get the New Year started with one of the best films of the year: THE SECRET AGENT! This political thriller from Brazil is set in 1977 where a man flees from a mysterious past and returns to his hometown but soon finds the city is far from being the refuge he seeks. Hereâs a description, trailer and plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: In 1977, a former professor flees from a mysterious past and returns to his hometown of Recife in search of peace. He soon realizes that the city is far from being the refuge he seeks. The film stars Wagner Moura, Carlos Francisco, Tânia Maria, RobÊrio Diógenes, Maria Fernanda Cândido, Gabriel Leone and Udo Kier in his final film role.
TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UfrzDKrhEc
BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The Secret Agent was the most awarded film at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival where it won Best Actor for Wagner Moura, Best Director for Mendonça Filho, the Art House Cinema Award and the FIPRESCI Prize. At this yearâs Golden Globes, it became Brazilâs first film ever to be nominated for Best Film (Drama)! It also received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Film, a Best Actor nomination for Wagner Moura and was selected as Brazilâs entry for Best International Film at this yearâs Academy Awards. The film is receiving an incredible 99% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes where critics say, its âcompelling script, impeccable acting, and striking 1970s aestheticâ make it âimpossible to look away!â Critics say The Secret Agent is âone of the few standout movies of the yearâ and the Chicago Tribune calls it a âmasterpiece of a filmâ and âthe best film of the year!â
PARKING: Close, convenient parking is available in the nearby garage (located between 9th and 11th, just off High St). Bring your ticket with you and have it validated at the theater and for $2, youâre covered for the night!
PLAN: Weâll plan for a 7pm-ish showing and will meet in the lobby area about 30 minutes before showtime! With this being a limited release film, weâll tentatively plan to see it at the Gateway, but location may change based on where it is showing and the showtimes available. Once details are confirmed, advance ticket is advised. Once you have yours, please list your seat number in the Comments section of this event. Showtime, location and complete details will be confirmed and announced as the date gets closer.
