Debate Night: Remote Work
One of the defining changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is the proliferation of remote work, alternatively known as telework or work from home. Technology had been advancing to the point that many jobs could be done at least in part from home. With a work laptop, video calling, a stable internet connection, and a cyber security program, many office jobs can be done at home without any serious hindrance. When COVID started, many white collar employees became full time remote workers. Six years after the start of the pandemic, many of these people still work at least in part from home.
Recent years have seen rising skepticism about remote work, particularly among management. Questions have been raised about whether people working from home are as productive or efficient as those in the office. Similarly, whether work culture can be as effectively created with people often working from home has also become a topic of discussion.
Long story short, remote work is, to some degree, here to stay. But to what degree? Do the costs outweigh the benefits? Come discuss this at Brussels Debaters!
Body, Movement and Silence: An Experiential Workshop
**Body, Movement and Silence: An Experiential Workshop**
By Katerina Ioannou
Brussels, 25 March 2026
Register here: https://www.imaginationclub.org/brussels/body_movement_silence.php
In this workshop, we’ll explore how we express ourselves and connect with others — not through words, but through our bodies, movement, and the space between us. We’ll play with simple exercises that invite spontaneity, imagination, and a sense of presence. There’s no right or wrong way — just what feels true for you in the moment.
What you might discover
\* New ways to listen — to yourself and others — without relying on language.
\* A sense of freedom in expressing what’s alive for you, however it wants to emerge.
\* A shared moment at the end, where we reflect with a word or image on what moved us.
**Who it’s for**
This is for anyone who wants to explore, play, and see what unfolds when we let go of expectations. No experience is needed—just come as you are.
**About Katerina**
Katerina Ioannou (B.Sc. in Occupational Therapy, M.Sc. in Person-Centred Psychotherapy) specialises in mental health support, group facilitation, and personal development. Ice Skating ⛸️❄️
What's up Friends! 👋
Let's break the ice again! 😂 ! 🧊✨ This time let's try after work when the rink should be less busy🤞
📍 Time & place: Feel free to join at any time. For the ones who can make it at 18:30 we'll meet inside the Posseidon ice rink in the skate rental room.
❄️ The idea: Skate as long as you like (rink closes at 10pm). For the ones who get tired (of falling) we can meet at the cafeteria around 19:30 to recharge with some drinks and snacks.
🤑 Entry fee (cash or card):
13 EUR with skate rental
9 EUR if you bring your own skates
💁♂️ good to know:
Consider arriving 15 mins earlier - getting a ticket takes time when there’s a line! ⏳
Bring a 50 cent coin for a locker if you need one (non-refundable)
Picture ID is required for skate rental.
Bring your handgloves🧤- you will need 'em!
More info: https://www.skate-poseidon.be/
⚠️⚠️⚠️ Skating is fun, but safety comes first! When the rink is very crowded (Fridays, weekend) stay extra alert! Enjoy responsibly!
👀 Keep an eye on last-minute details in the chat. 💬
See you there😉
Wednesday Badminton Mounier (no beginners, competitive)
**First time comers**
Please make sure to read the rules and contact the organizer before! Otherwise you will be moved to waiting list. Apologies for inconvenience but we have to do it to avoid no-shows.
**Games format.**
95% are double games (unless someone needs a break), typically 4 people play together 2 sets and then mix with players from other fields. We play with plastic shuttles - Yonex Mavis 2000 (which are provided).
**Registration**
If it's your first time, please send a private message to the host to confirm. No-shows are taken quite seriously because they unbalance the games a lot. Also once you register please keep an eye on you private messages, in case we need to contact you.
**Players level**
Having players with much less experience often unbalances the game making it much less interesting for more experienced players. We still try to be welcoming.
As a rule of thumb, if you know what a "clear" is, you are welcome to join.
(Note that on Sundays the attitude is a bit more relaxed than on Wednesdays, it's the weekend after all ;) )
Otherwise, feel free to get in touch with me (Timur) and we can see if we can arrange so you and existing players can have good experience playing.
**Price and payments**
The price of participation is EUR 8.95. Payment is on-site in cash, or via payconiq. Info provided during or shortly after the event.
**Cancelations and no-shows**
* Switches and cancellations are free of charge if done more than 50 hours before the start of the matches
* If you cancel within the 50-hour window before the event starts, you will be placed on the wait-list for the next week's event, whether or not a replacement is found. If no replacement is secured, you'll still need to cover your share of the costs.

Streamlining Release Processes in Large-Scale Environments
presented by Yuri Kudyn from Release Management Apps
Agile and DevOps have revolutionized software delivery, but implementing them effectively in enterprise environments demands additional strategies, practices, and tools tailored to organizational complexity.
Quality gates, compliance checks, dependency tracking, and linkage management are essential components of any large-scale release process.
In this session, we’ll explore how Atlassian Jira, Release Hub, and Marketplace apps enable smooth, compliant releases across complex enterprise ecosystems. From complex dependencies to compliance hurdles, we’ll break down the biggest release management challenges and how to tackle them effectively.
AI Apps builder for Jira (No-Code Way to Build Forge Apps)
presented by Stepan Fedortsiv from Saasjet
Jira teams often need custom dashboards, panels, or reports that aren’t available in Jira’s native features. In the past, building these solutions required development skills and time to write code. AI Apps Builder for Jira simplifies this process. Instead of coding, users can describe the solution they need in plain language, and the AI generates a secure Forge app ready to deploy, no coding required.
Join Stepan to see how you can build Jira apps faster with AI and Forge, and turn ideas into working Jira solutions in minutes.
Good to know: Our Brussels venue is located within the city’s Low Emission Zone (LEZ). If you’re coming by car, please check in advance whether your vehicle is allowed. Public transport is a great alternative.

Freedom, Safety, Risk & Reward
How are the dynamics of freedom, safety, risk and reward all interrelated?
Is it simply a question of how we can always maximize both freedom and reward?
What roles do risk and safety/security play in this system?
Can freedom and security be considered simply both as rewards, each with its own values and merits?
Are freedom and safety (not) nevertheless zero-sum related, more of one entailing less of the other?
How are freedom and risk-taking related?
Does risk-taking (not) by definition always mean less security?
The concept of risk can mean:
1)the probability of something bad occurring ("frequency") and/or
2)how bad that bad thing can be ("amplitude")
What implications do each of these two different types of risk carry regarding both freedom and security?
How are freedom, risk and recklessness interrelated?
What does the concept "freedom to make the best choices" mean?
Is individual freedom at the expense of safety (not) over-prioritized in our current world culture (possibly in some regional cultures more than in others)?
Or, seemingly contrarily, is our culture/society in fact overly-obsessed about safety?
Is it true (or not) that risk-taking always leads to greater potential reward?
Is risk-taking nowadays - possibly as a result of (and/or to promote) capitalist culture? - (not) _ethically_ overvalued?
Are some regional cultures in today's world more reward-driven (for example, to become rich, glamorous, famous and powerful) than others? What should be our ideal culture/attitudes regarding rewards and the earning of rewards?
What values should we give to freedom, risk, reward and safety in a _war_ situation?
In our society/world, should there be _fewer_ or _more_ rules with regards to risk-taking, security and reward?

Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online
