The Board Games event is a fun, sociable and charitable event We are a fun, friendly and kind group of people mostly in our 20s, 30s and 40s. Beginners are welcome! We are a very inclusive and social group and we teach people how to play games they have not played before :) We provide a variety of 40+ board games. The games usually take 5 or 10 minutes to learn and 30 to 60 minutes to play. **Time** * Board Games Start time: 630pm * Board Games end time: 10pm * Eat / Drink/ Socialise at a nearby pub afterwards **Location** 30 Leeds St, Toronto, ON M6G 3R8 (Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Protection) The entrance to the board game room is at the back of the Church. W. E. B. Du Bois (1868–1963) was an influential American sociologist, historian, writer, and civil rights activist. A co-founder of the NAACP and a lifelong pan-Africanist, he challenged racial discrimination through journalism, activism and academic research. His landmark book, *The Souls of Black Folk*, explored the experiences of Black Americans and introduced the concept of “double consciousness,” describing the tension of seeing oneself through both one’s own perspective and that of a society shaped by racism. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Du Bois advocated for immediate social and political equality, famously clashing with Booker T. Washington’s strategy of accommodation. Du Bois was one of the first Black Americans to earn a Ph.D. from Harvard University and remains a foundational figure in sociology, African American studies, and the global struggle for human rights. This is half-day philosophy conference on W. E. B. Du Bois presented by the University of Toronto's Centre for Ethics. The conference is free to attend and open to the public. Paul and Chloe think Jennifer's project is fascinating, and they join the group. They gather around Jennifer’s laptop and work on the nav bar for 2 hours. Jennifer is the one typing out the code while Paul and Chloe research, brainstorm, and offer suggestions.
