The Alexandria Brunch Club is a long running brunch event. We're a friendly bunch of people of different backgrounds, who enjoy a nice morning brunch and fun conversations. As has been the tradition, La Madeleine's in Old Town Alexandria is our place for brunching on a Sunday of every month. I find that a Sunday brunch is nice way to socialize and to just get myself out of the house. Afterward, Old Town, the Potomac and the myriad of parks are nice places for strolling after breakfast. We hiked this trail in March 2026 with The Bethesda Social Club, and everyone loved it! **Lake Needwood–Gude–Blue Heron Loop in Rock Creek Regional Park.** • Distance: 3.6 miles • Difficulty: Easy, with a gentle climb of 337 ft • Time: 1.5–2 hours at a leisurely pace • Scenery: Beautiful lake views, wetlands, and lots of birds (herons, ducks, geese) • Ideal if you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic, and not too tiring experience • Wide, well-marked trails — perfect for chatting Don’t forget to pack your essentials (water, snacks, and tissues are a good idea). If you’re bringing your dog, please let us know in the comments, just in case anyone has allergies. We’ll all meet at the parking lot near the boat house.

Capoeira (capo-way-ra) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that is unlike any other martial art. Capoeira incorporates flowing movements with kicks, dodges, and some acrobatics. It is often mistaken for a dance for those reasons. Since it’s origins in the 17th century, it has evolved from a secret fighting practice into an art emphasizing self-expression and community celebration. It is great for the body and mind! In addition to gaining strength and flexibility in class, students learn about Brazilian culture, history, and language (Portuguese). On November 26, 2014 capoeira was granted a special protected status as "intangible cultural heritage” by UNESCO. Local members of Ohio Paper Folders are invited to our home Fourth of July cookout and fireworks show. This will be on Sat July 4th. This is a four grill (plus a big-ass smoker) cookout with burgers, brats, veggi burgers, salmon burgers, roasted corn and lots of sides (feel free to bring a side). The fireworks show is...huge. 760 mortars plus four tables of multi-shot cakes. (anything worth doing is worth over-doing). We start cooking around 5:00 PM, end when everyone is stuffed.
