**We don’t do boring Wednesdays and so this week, we’re hugely excited to be hosting our latest sports & fitness social to spice up your midweek.** Yep that’s right - for this latest social, we’re excited to be heading back to Rise Climbing, near Canning Town for our **latest Social Bouldering Night,** exclusively for 20s and 30s. If you’ve never been bouldering before, it’s perhaps the most social form of free climbing and one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Unlike other forms of rock climbing, bouldering is free from ropes and harnesses and instead offers soft, safety mats and low walls to encourage climbers to explore their physical limits in a safe environment. But it’s not just a great work out for your body, the venue offers a range of wall challenges of varying design and difficulty that will test your problem solving skills, as well as your creativity, technique and balance. And it is the challenge element that makes bouldering one of the social sports around at present, as it is great spark for conversation in your shared attempts to take on the range of climbing routes on together. Best of all, we’ve been able to organise this **bouldering session, along with shoe hire and a free induction, all** **for just 10.85pp!** And after the bouldering, they'll be an option to head to a nearby pub so you can get a drink, share experience and get to know your fellow climbers a little better. Southwark Culture & Intellectual Discussion: Urban History Street name plates are more than just practical markers; they are fragments of London’s living history. Each plate captures a moment in time: the typography, the materials, and even the placement tell stories about the communities that named the streets and the councils that governed them. This evening, we turn our attention to Southwark, one of London’s oldest and most characterful boroughs. From the medieval lanes of Bankside to the grand 19th-century developments of Bermondsey and Camberwell, Southwark’s street signs reveal the borough’s layered past: its industries, its reformers, its changing boundaries, and its shifting sense of identity. Our guest speaker Simon Morris, publications secretary of the London Topographical Society, has cycled more than 3,000 miles around London documenting historic street name plates before they vanish through redevelopment or neglect. His meticulous photographic record captures everything from ornate Victorian cast ironwork to the distinctive red and black enamel plates of the London County Council era. In this talk, tailored specially for our Intellectual Discussion Night, Simon will share highlights from his research and photography in Southwark, exploring what these small but significant details reveal about the borough’s evolution. Join our 2 hours session which will consist of warm up followed by drills focusing on technical skill coaching and will include Forehand / Backhand / Volley and Serve. Finally you get to play each other refining your skills and techniques and ultimately having fun. Rackets can be borrowed please let me know if you need a racket in advance. Not to put too fine a point on it: even before "world leaders" like Putin, Trump, and Netanyahu brought industrial-scale murder and militarised mayhem back to the front of westerners' minds, we were already - [as predicted by many](https://www.noemamag.com/welcome-to-the-turbulent-twenties/) \- living through one of the most politically turbulent periods in history\, with more people out on the street in more countries than at any time before\. In this text\, Bevins takes a global sweep of protest movements from Brazil to the so\-called Middle East to Hong Kong and beyond\. Think back for a moment: at the start of the "Arab Spring" and the Occupy movements, spooked-up deep state maniac Paul Mason once wrote a blog article entitled ["Why it's kicking off everywhere"](https://www.dazeddigital.com/artsandculture/article/12271/1/paul-mason-why-its-all-kicking-off); as even a stopped watch is right twice a day, we can look back and agree that it really did kick off, everywhere.
