Join us at 11:30 a.m. for a meditation class led by Khenpo Karze, followed by a public talk and Q&A. The meditation focus varies from class to class. We are currently learning how to meditate on the Four Immeasurables: loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity. The class begins with 30 minutes of meditation instruction, followed by 5-10 minutes of meditation practice, and then continues with discussion and Q&A. Each session concludes with a brief Chenrezig practice in which we recite Om Mani Padme Hung (a prayer of compassion), and a dedication prayer that our efforts benefit all beings. This class offers a strong foundation in meditation, helping cultivate inner peace and compassion amidst busy lives. All are welcome! Drop-ins are welcome. This is an 8-week class in the Unified Mindfulness (UM) system that offers meditation techniques to reduce stress, improve clarity and concentration, and increase well-being. Each class introduces a UM technique, with guided meditations and Q&As. The class is well suited for both beginners and experienced meditators. Drop-ins are welcome. The instructor, Martin Spiering, PhD, is a UM-certified Level 2 Coach. He has practiced meditation for more than 10 years and worked as a researcher and educator for more than 15 years, including leading classes and seminars on meditation. UM is a secular mindfulness system developed by meditation teacher and research scientist Shinzen Young and is taught at many institutions. We'll briefly tell each other what we're going to do, then work on our projects, then at around 5:30 wrap up to show each other what we did and chat for a bit. You don't have to stay the whole time, so feel free to drop in and out as you have time. All game development skill levels welcome. Whether you're bringing a game you're trying to ship in a month, or you're just planning on following some tutorials or trying out a new tool to improve your skills, use this time to make progress. Working sessions also train you to think about the scope of your work: pick a chunk of work that you can complete in the time that we have.
