**Long CI times slowing down your development workflow?**
Many teams assume improving CI performance requires new infrastructure, expensive tools, or major changes to their workflow.
But in many cases, the tools you're already using include built-in flags that can significantly reduce CI time ā they're just often overlooked.
In this talk, **[Emily Xiong](https://www.linkedin.com/in/xiongemi/)** (Software Developer @ StackAdapt) will share how small configuration changes in common JavaScript tooling can lead to meaningful CI speedups, faster feedback loops, and a better developer experience.
The core idea is simple: **you can often reduce CI time significantly without adding new infrastructure, SaaS, or complex changes.**
Most JavaScript tooling already includes flags for caching, concurrency, and smarter execution. The real challenge isn't availability ā it's awareness and correct setup in CI environments.
Emily will walk through practical examples using tools many teams already rely on, including:
* ESLint
* Jest
* Playwright
* Next.js
If you work on large codebases, monorepos, or pipelines that take longer than you'd like, this talk will show how **small adjustments to existing tooling can make a big difference.**

SQUARE ONE - Practical Philosophy Meetup šØš¦
**šļø WHAT'S PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ABOUT?**
Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no āofficialā philosophy knowledge required! š
Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic.
The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community š
**š HOW DOES IT WORK?**
Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the [Whatsapp group](https://tally.so/r/81LP4A), along with jump-off points to get the conversation going.
When groups get bigger than 7-8 people, itās important that we break into smaller groups. This way we are able to maintain a conversational flow as opposed to having our meetups feel like a discourse or lecture.
**General Meeting Agenda**
Each Practical Philosophy meet-up follows this general timeline:
* 19:00-19:15 - People arrive and chat, get to know each other before the official start.
* 19:15-19:25 - Meeting introduction, explanation of Practical Philosophy and the topic for the week, read the guidelines and the overview so attendees know what to expect in terms of timelines.
* 19:25-20:45 - Break into small groups - introduce yourselves and general thoughts on the topic, open discussion afterwards. At this point the group can review the ājump-offā questions as needed, but they are just there to help guide the conversation. Itās not obligatory to answer them.
* 20:45-21:00 - Bring everyone back together to discuss conclusions of the topic - each group gives a short 1-minute summary. Organizer concludes the meeting and everyone takes a group photo.
* 21:00 - The official meeting is over but itās a great opportunity to get to know people in a non-structured environment, so we often stick around, chat, and get to know each other.
**š§§PRICING?**
Practical Philosophy is operated entirely on voluntary donations! If we are meeting in a cafƩ, buy a beverage! Donations are 100% voluntary, but they help us to bring the gift of deep conversation to people around the world. If you'd like to support, you can [donate here](https://www.zeffy.com/en-CA/donation-form/donate-to-practical-philosophy)!

**š WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY**
**š£** āI feel like Philosophy Club helps someone build their own belief system through a series of perspectives while not promoting whatās right and wrongā - Ekam
š£ āI got hooked from day 1 (the topic was authority) and felt it was the right place for me. I feel it is a place where people can go to learn and discuss new perspectives and increase critical thinking and community by interacting with people who might challenge your point of views but at the same time encourage you to have openness and mind flexibility.ā - Daniel
**š¤ FAQ**
* **Do I need to study or read anything to attend?**
No preparation is necessary. This isnāt a study of other thinkers. We want to know what you think about the topic, not what an old philosopher thought. If you have a perspective from a religion or a school of thought to share, throw it on the table and weāll discuss it.
* **Is there a specific philosophy that Practical Philosophy is focused on?**
The goal of our meet-ups is to not have dogmatic discussions, and flex our critical thinking muscles. Because of this, we want to hear from every realm of thought, and don't study a particular school.
* **Is it mostly men that attend?**
Surprisingly, no! Although often, philosophy is seen as a Candelabra affair in a dark room with a bunch of guys, our Practical Philosophy meetups are generally 50/50 between genders, and we donāt meet in any dark rooms.
* **Can I come alone?**
Of course you can, we encourage it :)
* **Can I be late?**
Please don't be! We do have a 15 minute grace period where we allow people to funnel in while we hang out, but after that if you arrive too late, it disrupts the flow of the conversation.
* **Where do you meet?**
The location is posted in Meetup and our [Whatsapp](https://tally.so/r/81LP4A) group for this location. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you join the Whatsapp group! If you want to know what other cities have a Practical Philosophy Club, you can see our chapters on our [website](https://www.practicalphilosophy.club/).

Bigger, Better, Bolder Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa
**Welcome to Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa!**
**Spring is in the air, and with it comes the promise of new beginnings, fresh energy, and the joy of connection!** As the season of renewal unfolds, we invite you to step into the rhythm of community, dance, and celebration at Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa.
My objective has always been to create a different kind of social gatheringāone that is open, non-judgmental, and safe. A place where you can meet people just like you, where socializing and dancing come together to help build community and tear down the walls that separate us. Here, we make new friends, feel a sense of belonging, and enjoy the calmness that comes from knowing we are in a safe and welcoming space.
Many times, I have been asked, āWhy host an event on Monday night?ā Many people escape on the weekend and dread Mondays when they return to work. I believe that if you dance and socialize on a Monday, you infuse your week with joy and positive energy, giving your life balance and helping you face your challenges with enthusiasm and confidence.
Weāre also thrilled to announce that our trial of advanced Bachata lessons, which began last September, has been a resounding success! Building on this momentum, weāre excited to offer an enhanced schedule for 2026. Our dance evenings will now feature three hours of classes: one hour of beginner to intermediate Bachata, one hour of advanced Bachata, and one hour of beginner to intermediate Salsa. As always, the entrance fee remains $15 for a night of 2 lessons and social dancing. For those interested in the advanced Bachata lessons, there will be an additional $5 fee.
Hereās our updated schedule:
**Miss Bachata ā Main Ballroom**
š 7:00 pm ā 8:00 pm: Beginner to Intermediate Bachata Lesson (No partner required)
š 8:00 pm ā 12:00 am: Social Dancing
**Miss Salsa ā Round Room**
š 7:00 pm ā 8:00 pm: Advanced Bachata Lesson (+$5) **NEW**
š 8:00 pm ā 9:00 pm: Beginner to Intermediate Salsa Lesson
š 9:00 pm ā 12:00 am: Social Dancing
⨠**Additional Details:**
āļø Free Parking
āļø Full Bar (Free Water, Beer: $5.75)
Over the past decade, organizing Latin dancing events in Mississauga has been a labor of love. Our mission has always been to foster a sense of community, proving that the connections we share are far stronger than the differences that divide us.
Loneliness is a growing concern, with over half of U.S. adults and many Canadians experiencing its effects. The COVID-19 pandemic has only heightened this issue. Harvard University's long-term study on happiness, which began in 1938, highlights the detrimental impact of loneliness on health. People with strong social connections experience slower mental and physical decline and greater overall happiness compared to those who are isolated.
Here are some key findings from the study:
šæ Close ties help delay mental and physical decline more than money, fame, social class, IQ, or genetics.
šæ Relationship satisfaction is a better predictor of aging well than cholesterol levels in middle age.
šæ A strong sense of community improves memory function.
šæ Loneliness can be as harmful to health as smoking or alcoholism.
And thereās hope! Strengthening our relationships and supporting community initiatives can combat loneliness and build healthier, happier lives. Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa provides a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, expand your social circle, and enjoy a safe, welcoming, authentic environment. Bring your open heart and a smile, and weāll take care of the rest.
šø **Cheers to a season of renewal, joy, and community!** šø

The Coach's Money Mindset Reset
**Click the link below to reserve your spot:**
**[https://energeticmagic.thrivecart.com/mindset-reset/](https://energeticmagic.thrivecart.com/mindset-reset/)**
Why Your Brain Is Chemically Rewarding You For Staying Stuck Below Your True Earning Potential
Most coaches hitting the almost-six-figure ceiling aren't struggling with their marketing or offer.
They're trapped by something far more powerful - a deep-seated reality addiction around money and success.
You've built a solid coaching business.
You have testimonials that prove your value.
Your clients get real results.
Yet somehow, consistent $10K+ months remain frustratingly out of reach.
Every time you get close to breaking through, something happens:
* You discount your rates when a potential client hesitates
* You overdeliver to justify your prices
* You feel a nagging discomfort when thinking about charging more
* You work harder instead of leveraging what's already working
The problem isn't your coaching ability. It's the unconscious stories you believe about wealth that create unnecessary friction in your business growth.
What "Reality Addiction" Is Costing You
Reality addiction is the unconscious belief that your current financial ceiling is "just how things are" for coaches like you.
It's the voice that whispers:
*"Making more means working more."*
*"If I charge premium rates, I'll price out the people who need me."*
*"Successful coaches are just better at selling than I am."*
These limiting beliefs aren't just in your head ā they're actively sabotaging your business decisions, creating a cycle where:
* You undercharge for your services
* You overwork to compensate
* You feel resentful about the imbalance
* You burn out before reaching your goals
I know because I was stuck in the same cycle. Making $8K months but unable to break through to consistent five-figure months until I addressed my reality addiction around wealth and success.
What You'll Discover in This Free Workshop
Once you join you'll feel the tension in your chest release as you finally understand why making money has felt so difficult.
During our 60-minute session, you'll experience:
\- The exact moment you recognize the invisible reality addiction that's been holding your income backāand feel immediate relief knowing it's not your fault
\- A profound shift as you see other successful coaches breaking through the same blocks that have kept you stuck
\- The liberating feeling of having a clear path forward instead of pushing that boulder uphill every day
\- The quiet confidence that comes from knowing exactly which stories to release so you can finally command premium rates without the guilt
When you apply the framework I'll share, you'll wake up feeling excited about your business again instead of exhausted by it.

āFor the first time in my life, I felt valued and loved. This work changed everything.ā
\- Lynn D
Security Coach

āHe worked on my fear of success, which was blocking me from getting more clients. I felt a huge sense of relief the very next day and started getting inquiries about my services.ā

Testing LLM Cooperation in Multi-Agent Simulation
This is a ticketed event. Please register at [this link](https://luma.com/lpikw708).
āRyan Faulkner explores various papers that address cooperation and safety in multi-agent LLM simulations. Some of the core topics will include:
* āMoral behaviour of agents in high-stakes, zero-sum, and morally charged social dilemmas
* āGovernance and sanctioning dynamics and the ways that LLM agents often fail to cooperate and free-ride in common-pool resource game
* āMechanism design interventions like mediation, contracts, and elected leadership are explored to steer agents toward safer outcomes.
āThis research also reveals that LLMs adapt their behavior based on awareness of their conversational partner's identity.

International Coalition on Superintelligence Risks
**This is a ticketed event. Please register at [this link](https://luma.com/zcsyrtrx).**
āWith [Duncan Cass-Beggs](https://www.cigionline.org/people/duncan-cass-beggs/?utm_source=luma), Executive Director of the Global AI Risks Initiative at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI).
āProminent AI scientists and national security experts are raising the alarm that it may soon become technically possible to build autonomous AI systems capable of posing an extinction risk to humanity. While timelines are uncertain ā with most informed estimates ranging from 2 to 10 years ā recent advances suggest that AI systems could soon reach a critical threshold and feedback loop of recursive self-improvement. In this context, societies and governments must prepare now to address the most challenging AI scenarios.
āBased on current trends, the most powerful AI systems will likely be developed by frontier AI companies in the United States or China. Canada, like most other countries, therefore, lacks direct influence over the AI developments that may most affect our future. This doesnāt mean we have to resign ourselves to a fate determined by others. Along with efforts to promote AI adoption, innovation, and sovereignty, Canada can help to lead an international effort to avoid the worst global scale risks of AI ā and make sure AI goes well and for the benefit of all. The challenges ā technological, philosophical, political ā are complex and daunting, especially under possibly very short timelines. But they are challenges most worthy of our commitment in this tumultuous and pivotal time.
āBuilding on CIGIās recently published [Special Report on AI National Security Scenarios](https://www.cigionline.org/publications/ai-national-security-scenarios/), this session will lay out the key arguments for an international coalition of willing middle powers and others to lead urgent efforts to address global scale risks from AI. The session will then engage participants in a roll-up the sleeves discussion of Canadaās potential interests, roles, and points of leverage, and how best to rapidly mobilize Canadaās contribution.

***Subject: Penetration Testing Automation with MCP***
***Abstract:***
*This presentation talks about my journey as the penetration testing practice lead, covering how I was able to increase efficiency and speed up the execution of my team's projects. I will discuss what MCP is, introduce how it can help in reconnaissance and enumeration phases, and analyze the results. I will also demo a solution that everyone can implement using the n8n low-code platform. Additionally, I will discuss and show why agents can help us, pentesters, in writing the reports (do the boring and tedious stuff). In the end, I will delve into why several precautionary measures should be undertaken before sending sensitive client data to commercial LLMs and suggest several solutions based on my experience. And as the final point, I would want to encourage my colleagues to experiment with and implement their own MCP-based solutions to speed up and make their engagements more effective.*
*About Dmitrii:*
*Dmitrii is the head of offensive security/penetration testing and practice lead at Parabellyx Cybersecurity.*

***Title: Stop Is Not a Safety Control: What AI Agent Security Looks Like at the Runtime Boundary***
**Abstract:**
*A lot of AI security discussion still focuses on prompts, policies, and tool declarations. Our research at ([CAISI](https://caisi.dev/)) has been looking at the harder question: what actually changes at execution time when an agent is told to stop, requires approval, or reaches a risky tool boundary? Iād share a practical, evidence-based talk on where AI agent control really holds or fails, drawing from our OpenClaw case-study work and our public research on agent governance, evidence posture, and approval gaps. The goal would be a practitioner-focused session for security leaders, builders, and evaluators trying to separate demo confidence from real control.*

**Abstract**
GitHub Copilot is powerful, but what if you could scale from a solo AI assistant to an entire team of specialized agents working in parallel? This session introduces Squad: an open-source framework for multi-agent orchestration that lets you define teams of AI agents with specific roles, responsibilities, and expertise.
We'll progress from Copilot basics to the Copilot CLI, explore how Agents add autonomy, and see how Instructions and Skills let you customize agent behavior. Then, the climax: a live demo where a Squad team of 3 agents (Lead, Developer, Tester) stands up and builds a working application in real-time, showcasing true multi-agent collaboration.
Whether you're new to AI or exploring how to scale your use of Copilot, this session will show you what's possible when agents work as a team.

Curious about āvibe codingā but not sure what it actually means? This beginner-friendly talk is about how people are using AI to build websites, apps, automations, and small software projects by describing what they want in plain English.
Weāll cover what vibe coding is, what AI is good at, where it falls short, and how to actually use it without getting lost. The goal is not to hype AI as magic ā itās to show how to use it as a practical tool.
This session is designed for beginners, curious builders, non-programmers, and developers who want a clearer picture of how to build with AI today.
Topics include:
* What āvibe codingā means
* What AI can help you build
* Where AI is useful and where it is unreliable
* A simple workflow for building with AI
* Prompting tips for better results
* Common beginner mistakes to avoid
If youāve ever thought, āI have an idea, but I donāt know how to build it,ā this talk is for you.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING:
The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks!
The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
