AWS User Group Meetup April 2026
👋 Hello AWS User Group Community! Join us on Wednesday, 29th April 2026, for our April meetup at the AWS Singapore Office, IOI Central Boulevard! Our speakers will share their experiences and insights from modernizing existing applications, designing enterprise agent architectures, and taking generative AI ideas from prototype to production. If you're experimenting with AI agents, exploring generative AI architectures, or simply curious about how others are bringing these ideas into real-world systems, this meetup is for you :) 📢 **IMPORTANT! Registration Information** To ensure a smooth check-in process, please take note of the following: ✅ ✅ Confirmed attendees will receive a confirmation email before the event titled *"**AWS User Group Singapore: Registration Confirmed for AWS User Group Meetup – April 2026**."* You must present this email at the Level 1 Concierge to gain access to Level 5 for attendance verification. 🚶 Walk-ins (those without a confirmation email) will only be considered if the venue has not reached full capacity. Priority will be given to registered attendees with confirmation emails. 🔒 Strictly enforced: No confirmation email = walk-in. Entry not guaranteed. 📅 **Date:** Wednesday, 29th April 2026 🕡 **Time:** 6:30 PM 📍 **Location:** AWS Singapore; 2 Central Blvd, IOI Central Boulevard East Towers, Level 5 🎤 **Meetup Track** **✅ Evaluating GenAI Applications in Production with AWS Bedrock Evaluations** **📌 Speaker: Vishesh Kumar, Principal Architect, AWS** Without evaluation, all GenAI is "taking shots in the dark." Learn the six criteria for effective GenAI evaluation frameworks and how Amazon Bedrock Evaluations bridges the PoC-to-production gap with built in and custom metrics. **✅ Solving Real-Life Problem using Agentic AI and AWS cloud** **📌 Speaker: Senthil Baskaran, Emerging Technology Architect** Parents in Singapore receive dozens of school event PDFs via ParentsGateway each term and manually re-entering every date, time, and location into their calendars is tedious and error-prone. One PDF upload, two taps, and every event is in your calendar — that was the goal. School Event Processor — an AI-powered web app that extracts calendar events from school PDF letters and adds them directly to Google Calendar. Built with Next.js 15 (App Router), TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, AWS Bedrock (Claude Sonnet 4.5), OpenAI GPT-4o as fallback, NextAuth v5 (Google OAuth), pdfjs-dist for client-side PDF rendering, and AWS Amplify for hosting, the app was designed to solve a common, everyday pain point for parents. **✅From Idea to Interactive Map: Building AWS Community Globe** **📌 Speaker: Jagateesvaran Rajoo\, Software Engineer \| AWS Cloud Club Core Team at SIT** In this session, Jaga will share the story behind AWS Community Globe, an interactive project designed to make it easier to discover AWS Community Heroes, Community Builders, User Groups, and Cloud Clubs around the world. He will walk through the idea behind the project, how he designed and built the experience, the tools and technologies used, and some of the lessons learned while turning a simple idea into a working community discovery platform. 💡 **Pro Tip:** Arrive early to avoid queues and secure your seat for the sharing sessions! **Register here (subject to approval):** **[https://luma.com/mu4wsv8t](https://luma.com/mu4wsv8t)** *This is an in-person event. Successful Registration is subject to approval.* **ABOUT** **In association with [Women's Dev Singapore](https://www.meetup.com/women-devs-sg/), [Zenika](https://www.linkedin.com/company/zenikasingapore/) presents A Practitioner’s Perspective:** Scalability is often treated as a purely technical challenge — something to solve with the right architecture, tools, or infrastructure. In reality, it is just as much about how we think. In this talk, \*\*[Fion ](https://www.linkedin.com/in/fion-sim-8427741b0/)\*\*shares her journey of learning to design for scalability through real-world experience — navigating evolving requirements, growing systems, and the trade-offs that come with them. Rather than focusing on deep technical patterns, the session explores the decision-making process behind building systems that can grow sustainably. Through practical examples, she will reflect on: * How to recognise when scalability becomes a concern * Balancing simplicity vs. future-proofing * Breaking down systems into manageable, evolvable components * Learning from constraints, failures, and iteration This session is designed for developers who are early to mid in their journey, or anyone looking to strengthen their intuition around building systems that don’t just work today — but continue to work as they scale. **About the Speaker - [Fion Sim](https://www.linkedin.com/in/fion-sim-8427741b0/):** Fion is a fullstack web developer focused on building robust, scalable applications across the modern web stack. She has hands-on experience with frontend frameworks such as Next.js and Angular, and develops backend microservices using Node.js and Prisma. Driven by curiosity and continuous learning, Fion is particularly interested in how systems evolve over time — and how thoughtful design decisions can support long-term scalability and maintainability. 📍 **Venue:** This meetup is brought to you by Zenika Singapore, 20 Bendemeer Rd, #03-10 BS Bendemeer Centre, Singapore 339914. **NOTE: Successful Registration is subject to approval. Bedok Reservoir Park to Old Airport Road Food Centre (18 km)
We shall do 7 cycles IWT around Bedok Reservoir Park then brisk walk to ECP to do another 5 cycles of IWT before we walk to Mountbatten MRT or Old Airport Road Food Centre for lunch. Interval Walk Training (IWT)—alternating fast-paced walking with slow, recovery-paced walking—is a highly effective, low-impact workout that improves cardiovascular fitness, boosts metabolism, and strengthens muscles. It is superior to steady walking for lowering blood pressure, improving aerobic capacity, reducing visceral fat, and enhancing insulin sensitivity. **Key Health Benefits of Interval Walk Training (IWT):** * **Improved Cardiovascular Health:** IWT strengthens the heart and enhances blood circulation by raising and lowering the heart rate, similar to a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) session. * **Superior Metabolic Control:** It is particularly effective for managing blood sugar and increasing insulin sensitivity, making it ideal for managing or preventing type 2 diabetes. * **Weight Management & Metabolism:** The "afterburn effect" from high-intensity intervals continues to burn calories after the workout ends, aiding in fat loss. * **Increased Aerobic Capacity & Physical Fitness:** Studies indicate that switching paces consistently improves overall stamina and endurance better than continuous walking. * **Muscle & Bone Strengthening:** It strengthens the legs and core, while improving bone density, which is crucial for preventing osteoporosis in older adults. * **Improved Mental Health:** It aids in stress reduction, improves sleep quality, boosts energy, and elevates mood through the release of endorphins. * **Accessible and Sustainable:** The training is low-risk and highly adaptable to various fitness levels, making it popular for improving longevity and mobility in adults over 60. https://www.brownhealth.org/be-well/interval-walking-health-benefits-japanese-walking-method You will brisk walk pass the following parks: \- Bedok Reservoir Park \(IWT 4\.5 km\) \- Bedok Town Park \- Bedok Reservoir Road Neighbourhood Park \- Siglap Park Connector \- East Coast Park \(IWT 2\.5 km\) \- Mountbatten MRT Station \- Old Airport Road Food Centre \(Lunch\) Date: 2 May 2026 (Sat) Registration Time: 7.45 a.m. Start Time: 8.00 a.m. Start point: Bedok Reservoir MRT Station Exit A (Ground level) End Time: 12:45 - 1 p.m. End point: Mountbatten MRT / Old Airport Rd Food Centre Lunch: Old Airport Road Food Centre (Optional) Where to meet at start point? Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for May is "Ink" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!

Choose Your Movie: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES vs HOKUM at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Choose Your Movie: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES vs HOKUM at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Join us as we get together to see your choice of two VERY different movies – one sweet and wholesome – the other a terrifying folklore horror! Option 1 is the fun whodunnit-action-comedy-mystery led by Hugh Jackman, THE SHEEP DETECTIVES! Option 2 is the top-reviewed supernatural-horror-thriller starring Adam Scott, HOKUM! Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES: Every night a shepherd reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand. When he is found dead, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it. The film is directed by Kyle Balda and take a look at this ensemble cast: Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Braun, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau and Emma Thompson and the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O'Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein and Rhys Darby. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyZI5oM6hWk HOKUM: In this film, a horror writer visits an Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes, unaware the property is said to be haunted by a witch. It is written/directed by Damian McCarthy stars Adam Scott, Peter Coonan, David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh and Austin Amelio. Hokum premiered to rave reviews at this year’s SXSW Festival and is being release by Neon. It is earning a stellar 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which calls it, “A classic haunted house story enriched with atmospheric folklore and perfectly-timed shocks!” TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVCIK_MPyhc PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing of both films and will meet inside the theater lobby about 20 minutes before showtime. If the showtimes work out, we’ll try to get both groups together for a bite before the shows! Complete details and showtime will be confirmed/announced as the date gets closer. Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
