This first-class thriller follows a salesman, brilliantly played by Todd, whose quest to recover his stolen car leads him into the hands of a brutal London gang, led by a cast-against-type Sellers. Guillerminās brassy precision, revealing his fascination with characters driven by obsession and psychopathy, is heightened by John Barryās score and Ralph Sheldonās fast, riotous editing.
We will meet near the box office and (for those members that can attend) go for a drink/snack afterwards at the venue.
Dave
P.S. There are a few other films at BFI in late May that could be of interest to members. This includes 'The Gold Rush' on the 17th (that some of us went to in Sept 25 at Cine Lumiere), and 'The Bad and the Beautiful' on the 24th. If anyone wishes to host either of these films please contact me.

Saturday Tabletop Games at Premiere Cinemas
It's **Saturday** & our main night of the week & the fun & games are just getting started here at DWL!
We're located here in the Cinema (which can be found on the 3rd floor of the Mercury Mall Shopping Centre) on:
* **Tuesdays & Thursdays**: From 17:30 to 22:00.
* **Saturdays**: From 12:00 to 22:00
š¦ And we're still running every Monday 6pm to 11pm at the Golden Lion Pub too.
šā There are hot & cold food & drink options available from the cinema at low prices!
Supporting Premiere Cinema by buying their food & drink IS supporting Dicing With Life! The cinema has been very generous to us by bringing us into their space & our way of showing our gratitude is by sending some business their way.
And their menu is surprisingly cheap! Especially compared to any other cinema.
Here's some cool examples of some great **offers**:
Buy a large **Popcorn** (it's a huge bucket!) or a large **fizzy drink** & it'll initially cost you Ā£4, BUT, take your bucket or cup back to the bar for a **refill** & the cinema will refill it back up to the top for just Ā£2! šæš„¤
That's half price Popcorn & Pop!
This also applies to **Ice Blasts** too (£5 initially but to refill it's just £3).
There's also Hot Dogs, Nachos, Pick n Mix & many other treats in store too! Check out their menu š
If you have any questions, please ask & let the fun commence! š²

š¹š¬ TUNER
āļø **Everybody has one hidden talent, evidently!**
š **Hey guys,** happy Sunday roasting as we're putting **Tuner**, directed by **Daniel Roher**, under the microscope tonight.
This film is tagged as a crime thriller that follows a piano tuner, played by **Leo Woodal**l, who becomes involved in safe cracking to help his mentor, played by **Dustin Hoffman**. The film is noted for its sound design and the dynamic between the two leads, but as hardcore movie fans, it would be fun to find out for ourselves whether it lives up to the hype.
Either way, this should make for a great night out as we meet for **drinks at Picturehouse Central at at 6:30 pm**. You'll find us upstairs at the bar, where we'll be chatting about some of our **favourite movie scores and soundtracks**. The screening itself will start at **7:45 pm up at Screen 3,** where you will find us in **row F12 and F13** if you wish to sit near us.
After the film, we'll reconvene once again to decide whether this one deserves to be toasted or roasted. And before heading home, we'll also collect everyone's scores for **[Letterboxd](https://letterboxd.com/movieroadhouse)**. Youāll find the **full schedule breakdown, tickets, and addresses below**.
Let's fine-tune this baby!

šØš¬ BACKROOMS (FILM & SOCIAL)
**šŖāŖ Through endless, untold rooms, Iāve found my way here⦠The more they remember me, the less they let me go. And the only thing louder than my heartbeat is the silence.**
š **Hello guys!** Letās meet for this intriguing concept film directed by **Kane Parsons.** Itās based on his own **[web series](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVAh-MgDVqvDUEq6qDXqORBioE4Yhol_z)**, inspired by the **[Backrooms Creepypasta](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgjHA-1VRK4)**, a horror legend thatās been widely shared online. **The Backrooms** themselves are a fictional location that originated from a **[2019 4chan thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/backrooms/comments/xn7e0j/the_origin_of_the_backrooms_was_a_post_on_4chan/)**, so there are quite a few rabbit holes to go down here.
Itās crazy how many big names are producing thisāOsgood Perkins, James Wan, and Shawn Levy, to name a few.
The premise of this **A24** expanded supernatural, science fiction, psychological horrorāyeah, quite the mouthfulāfollows a therapist investigating a mysterious, infinite, damp, yellow-walled dimension after a patient disappears through a doorway.
Letās make this a **film and social** with plenty to talk about. Weāll start with some **predictions** and **theories** at the **Victory House Wine Bar** from **4:30pm**. Jules and Jim, the Book!
By popular demand, the group wanted to read and discuss the semi-autobiographical novel by Henri-Pierre Roche, that inspired the Truffaut movie we watched last year.
The book is available through the Columbus Library's interlibrary loan system. They reported there are twenty-eight copies available in the state of Ohio. If you have a library card, you can file an interlibrary loan request here: https://www.columbuslibrary.org/library-services/ . There are also used copies available on Amazon and eBay for under twenty dollars.
You may want to rewatch the movie after reading the book, so we can compare and contrast in our discussion. The Columbus Library has four copies on DVD, and it's streaming on HBOMax.

These three timelines have a lot of connective tissue holding them together; certain symbols and motifs appear repeatedly, not to mention Mackayās Louis, a figure whom Gabrielle seems drawn to in each lifetime.
