THE DRAMA @ The Savoy - "Late Late" Breakfast - Friday Night Movie
THE DRAMA @ The Savoy - "Late Late" Breakfast - Friday Night Movie
Hi everyone, I hope you're well! We love the cinema and I’d like us to support again our oldest cinema on O’Connell Street and a nearby eatery (giving them our ‘business’), given recent events - so let’s go back to the Savoy this month. I hope you’ll not yet have had the chance to see the chosen movie yet - it out with a bit but is getting very interesting recommendations from fellow Meetup friends and official reviewers. **[The Drama | Official Trailer HD | A24](https://youtu.be/6zmKcUa4Xxk?si=GcW-DD-QQrca6iyC)** **THE DRAMA - Screen 01, 19:30pm (105 mins)** *“Kristoffer Borgli’s (Sick of Myself, Dream Scenario) latest is a darkly comic romantic drama about Emma and Charlie, an engaged couple played by Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, whose relationship begins to unravel in the days before their wedding. As long-buried secrets and unsettling truths emerge, the young couple are forced to confront how little they may truly know about one another. What should be a joyful celebration turns into an emotionally volatile reckoning that threatens to upend their future together.”* **Dining (now closed):** We will then have dinner beforehand in [Bobo’s on Abbey Street](https://maps.app.goo.gl/kFLX3BF9JVUVVVzw5) at 6:00pm. It’s primarily a really good burger place, but they also do nachos, wings, and salads as well. ***The numbers for dinner are now closed. If you'd like to join a Waitlist, send me a PM directly?*** Note that they do not split bills there so it’s CASH ONLY again for this one. Hi all, Our *‘Before’* Triology continues on **Sunday April 19th at 4pm** with the screening of **Before Sunset.** Before Sunrise ended with a promise that its sequel reveals was not kept. Nine years after Vienna, Jesse, married with a son, is giving a reading in a Paris bookshop of the novel he wrote inspired by his encounter with Céline when she appears. Their time once again limited by Jesse’s travel arrangements, the two walk the streets, resuming their conversation, acknowledging the changes in their lives while recognising the profound effect their one night together had on their lives and relationships. Screening is taking place in screen 1 and early booking is advised. I’ll be in the foyer from 3.30pm with my purple baseball hat. See you all there, Martin

📚 Books & Social 🍸
📚 Books & Social 🍸
📚Reading books and discussing them are two distinct experiences! Conversations about books and sharing insights help us better appreciate literature and enrich our lives. Let's grab a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and discuss books we're currently reading or have recently enjoyed—whether poetry, fiction, or non-fiction. Bring your physical book or e-reader. There's no formal structure or agenda—just books and good conversation.💬 It's a perfect place to get book recommendations and rediscover your reading momentum if you've hit a slump. We welcome readers of all backgrounds and interests! ⚠️**Something Happened?** If something unpleasant happened to you, it may happen to others. Even if it seems minor, don't hesitate to reach out to me. 🔍 **How to find us?** * When I reach the venue, I'll leave a comment in the meetup where the group is seated. Normally, the booking is in my name, so you can ask the staff for the group. * If you're unable to find us, leave a comment in the meetup page. I'll be able to guide you. We highly encourage you to move between tables and strike up conversations with fellow book lovers. These discussions about literature and reading recommendations are often the highlight of the event! As an organizer, I'm always looking for feedback about the event and suggestions for new events, so feel free to suggest ideas to me. 💡 I look forward to seeing you all! 😊

City Lights (1931)
In *City Lights*, Chaplin's Little Tramp meets a blind girl selling flowers who mistakes him for a wealthy man. When he learns that an operation may restore her sight, he sets off to earn the money she needs to have the surgery. He also befriends an alcoholic millionaire who only recognizes him when he is drunk. When the blind girl and her grandmother fall behind in the rent and face eviction, he tries working and even enters a boxing competition to raise the money they need. Regarded as Chaplin's masterpiece, *City Lights* has been ranked on more than seventeen "100 greatest movies of all time" lists. Orson Welles cited it as his favorite picture. *City Lights* is available for streaming on Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBOMax, Tubi and PlutoTV. The Columbus Library lists three copies on blu-ray and eight copies on DVD. Watch the movie on your own, then join us upstairs at East Market to discuss the film. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events! Should be a good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
