It's Jugger time! Two teams use a selection of padded foam spars to tag opponents as they aim to put the jugg (the game ball) into their opponent's goal. **Watch Jugger being played in [this excellent short demo video](https://vimeo.com/28592980).** Jugger Melbourne training sessions include both full games of jugger, as well as a variety of training drills designed to promote **teamwork, communication, exercise, health and fitness, and teach core game skills.** After training we head across to Glenferrie Rd for lunch and socializing, which you are welcome (and encouraged!) to join. **‍🏃‍♀️‍➡️ New Player Info / Who Can Join** New players are always welcome! Our experienced coaches will teach you basics to get you and and swinging in no time Jugger is easy to pickup the basics while deep to master. We have a minimum age policy of 16 years (please note, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian), but other than that we welcome anyone of all fitness levels. Jugger is a great way to keep active, and a fun way to meet new people in a friendly and inclusive community! **👟 How to Join a Session and What to Bring** Joining is simple - just show up! RSVPing on Meetup or Discord is a big help as it helps us plan around expected numbers. You are also welcome to bring along any interested friends and family. **⚔️ Jugger equipment is supplied.** We have a collection of gear to loan out to new players. Bring a water bottle (there is a tap nearby), sunscreen, and wear comfortable clothes and shoes for running around in - and that you don't mind getting a bit dirty! Recommend but not required items include: sunglasses, football boots, kneepads, and gloves if you have them. You don't need any of these to get started, but you may find you want them if you become a regular. **✅ Are there any costs are involved?** Our training sessions are **free to attend** as often as you like, we are essentially just a group of friends that meet for training and socializing on the weekend. The Australian Jugger League has a voluntary annual membership that helps to support the sport (including maintaining equipment and paying for Meetup), and we encourage people to join once they become a regular attendee or begin attending tournaments. However there's no obligation so spend any money when you're first trying it out or just attending casually. **➡️ External Links** We organise our regular players through our Discord group and their attendance is not often represented in the Meetup attendance numbers (we use Meetup to reach out to new people). 3 Teams. 3 Goals. Hexagonal Pitch. A game of alliance and betrayal in equal measure. We are looking for new players and returning players alike to come play a match. Players of any ability, fitness level or background are welcomed - the game is intended to be fun for a Sunday morning rather than super competitive. If you've never played before, that's okay - the rules are as simple as this: * There's no offside - roam where you will * Defend your goal at all costs * No hands (this is soccer-style football after all) Come down for 9:00am, we make some balanced teams and warm up for the match starting at 9:15. Three thirds are played of 25 minutes each so we're usually done by about 11:00am. All fitness and soccer skill levels more than welcome and encouraged! A note regarding junior players: We very much enjoy and encourage junior players to come along and play however please be aware of the following: * As most attendees are adults, all players must be a minimum of 1.5m tall and 13 years of age. Soccer may have incidental contact when contesting a ball, and we would hate for someone small to be injured as a result of running into someone larger than them. * Any players under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a playing parent or guardian. How to find us - We meet on the astroturf pitch near the Baselball and Hockey clubs in Albert Park. The main location we use is called "Dorothy Coleman Field". Portsea Hike! Meet us at 10.30 am at Portsea Hotel Car Park.. Departing @11am Sharp! We're heading to the stunning London Bridge. This is an easy to moderate walk about 45 mins one way. If you’d like to come along and not yet paid the $12 member contribution for the next 12 months, the easieat way is direct to the group's account - Andy Annita UE Account bsb 670864 acc 35256989 ref (your name). 11am We start a walk to London Bridge in Portsea. It;s scenic 1.5 km (30-45 min) to 3 km coastal trail featuring dramatic clifftop views of a natural rock arch. Photo opportunity \*12pm til 12.30pm \*12.30 Walk back to Portsea Hotel \*1.30pm Lunch and well-earned Bevvie. Bring comfortable shoes for track walking and rocks, water bottle, sunscreen and a hat/coat. Location: London Bridge , Portsea (Mornington Peninsula National Park). Duration: 30–45 minutes for the direct track, up to 1-2 hours for loop options. Highlights: Stunning ocean views, rock pool access at low tide, and the dramatic, eroded rock formation. Difficulty: Easy to moderate; includes some sandy, steep sections and coastal scrub. Pub Walk Connection While the London Bridge walk itself is nature-focused, it is located near the Portsea Hotel.

Starting from 'Walker Fountain Kings Domain' we walk along the tan track, towards MCG, Fitzroy Gardens and back to where we started. En route, we stop by for a coffee station for a quick rest. We meet at 10:30am for a 10:40am start. If you arrive late or you're waiting for your coffee order, you can catch up at Shrine of Remembrance around 11:00am (we will be at flames). If you're new to the group, come along and meet some of the regular hikers and suggest your favorite hiking locations for the coming months. The pace will be moderately brisk towards fast. We will not be stopping often to regroup. I will pause at the turns to help ensure no one misses them. **By attending, you agree to match the pace and stay in sight of the group or be comfortable navigating your own way to the destination.** With the variability of this kind of event I will book a best guess close to the event and we will find extra tables or seats on the day if needed. We arrive just as the venue opens. The 'Going' list is for the walk and booking to keep the group size manageable. If you're on the 'Waitlist', you're welcome to join at the venue from 12pm and find your own table or grab a drink and mingle. If you miss out this month, look out for this again next month. It's been a long time since we had a social gathering, let's fix that. Come along and meet members of the group, catch up with existing mates, drink some froths, eat some food, and be merry. Come along to Stomping Ground in Collingwood. There is also an URBNSURF session meetup at the 6-7pm Intermediate Right before this so come along to that too if ya keen! Please update your RSVP if you can no longer make this event so that anyone on the waitlist can be added to the event. If you do not you will be forever cursed into a life of kooktitude and all your waves will close out as soon as your feet hit the deck. Come on and drop into some conversations. Perform a slick verbal cutback into a new friendship. Get barrelled by positive energy and the endless stoke of a great group of people. Enhance your tasting paddling stamina with a nice selection of craft beer. Duck dive into a night that could go anywhere but, let's be honest, will likely end up at karaoke. As the great philosopher Björk once said: "What’s the point in drinking a glass of wine a day ? It’s a waste of money, a waste of time, a waste of wine. Better to drink a litre of vodka once a week and do it properly, really get out of it. I miss all that. I’d rather go all the way once a month, end up naked on a bar table, climbing fences and swimming in someone’s pool."

We'll meet at West Footscray station, there is a trail that passes Sunshine station to King Edward Avenue then the Kororoit creek trail. Then the federation trail, with stunning views north where the trail runs beside Westgate freeway as the trail arrives at Yarraville. Lunch at the quaint Yarraville cafe village. For those who choose the easy ride option you can finish the ride here, hop on the train at Yarraville Station. For those who choose the medium ride, back on to the federation trail at Yarraville Gardens then Dixon veloway flying above some busy roads. North Melbourne Station is another drop out point at Moonee Ponds creek. Kensington back streets then Stockmans route, we'll arrive at the front door of Moon Dog Footscray, a stones throw from Footscray Station. For those who do not wish to do the whole ride there are plenty of drop out points such as Yarraville Station and North Melbourne Station. When riding outside suburbia remember that carrying too much water is better than not enough as the distances between water availability may vary greatly from the planned route due to road closures or other unforeseen circumstances. Check Meetup for any changes the day before the ride, as the ride may be cancelled in the event of extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances. If you cannot make it to the ride please change your RSVP to 'NO' as soon as you know but no later than the day before ride day. **Albert Park Lake** For this Sunday Walk we'll be heading back to the popular Albert Park Lake. We’ll walk the tan track which runs around the entire lake. With the city skyline as the backdrop, it’s the perfect Sunday morning walk – with that all-important coffee along the way. **Start:** Meet outside the **Middle Park Hotel,** corner of **Canterbury Rd** and **Armstrong St**, Middle Park. **Start time:** 9.00 AM **Parking:** Park along Canterbury Road or in the side streets of the Middle Park Shopping Centre. **The Walk**: The walk is the well-formed tan track around the lakeside. It’s a circuit so we’ll walk around the lake and finish back at our cars. **Total distance**: 5.5 km. **Time:** Allow 2.0 hours for the walk, plus half hour for coffee. Total 2.5 hours. **Difficulty:** Easy **Toilets:** Near the start, plus at the café. **Coffee:** The **Boat Shed Café** at the yacht club on the lake.

A fun way to compare wines from two different countries at a time. House Wine is squaring off two countries' wines against each other each Thursday in March. March 12, March 19, March 26, and the Finals April 2nd. Meet and Greet format....show up after 7pm, pay your $15 at the cash register, get your wine glass, and enjoy. I will get a table reserved for the group. Remember, you may bring in your own food or takeout. Attendance is your agreement to the Group's Waiver of Liability terms. Parking is tough at House Wine; there is a municipal lot one-half block north of the shop and sometimes parking at the lot behind Jet Pizza, accessed by the lane between the east House Wine parking lot and the residence to the east.
