The Great Suburban Spin‑Off Bike Ride - Outer circle trail - 30 km
**🚴♂️ Eat Drink Dance Melbourne: The Great Suburban Spin‑Off (Cheeky Edition) 🚴♀️**
**When** Friday 14 February
10:00am start . Please arrive at 9.45 am
**Meet at:** Love Bar, South Wharf (next to the Skyline Ferris Wheel, opposite the Exhibition Centre)
**Distance**: ~30km (plus optional coastal chaos)
**Finish**: ~2–3pm at Hughesdale Station
Melbourne, it’s time to clip in, roll out, and flirt shamelessly with the middle suburbs.
Join Eat Drink Dance Melbourne for a social bike ride with big personality — part scenic cruise, part snack‑hunting expedition, part rolling group chat. Zero Lycra‑snobbery, zero racing, maximum fun.
**+++Ensure you read the rules at the end before joining. Registering = agreeing to them+++**
**🌿 The Adventure**
We launch from Love Bar (because of course we do) and glide along the river before sliding onto Swanston Street’s bike paths like a well‑oiled social machine. Then it’s up to Princes Park, onto the Capital City Trail, and across to the leafy charm of Fairfield Boathouse.
**Expect**:
- 30km of “I swear this is still leisurely” riding
- 4–5 hours including snack‑based diplomacy
- Café stops, ice‑cream stops, hydration stops, existential‑crisis stops
- A pace that encourages conversation, not competition
- Views that make you say “wow, Melbourne, you’re actually kinda hot”
We then follow the Outer Circle Rail Trail to Hughesdale Station, where the official ride wraps up and the trains whisk you back to the city like the responsible adult you pretend to be.
**🌊 Optional Coastal Extension** (For the Bold, the Beautiful, and the Mildly Delusional)
If you’re still feeling spicy, you can continue from Hughesdale to Elwood Beach, then cruise the Bayside coastal path back into the city.
**Perfect for**:
- People who don’t melt in the heat
- People who think “just a bit further” is a personality trait
- People who want to brag later
**✨ Vibe Check**
This is classic Eat Drink Dance Melbourne energy:
Playful, social, a little chaotic, and very snack‑positive.
**Bring**:
- A bike that won’t betray you
- Water
- Snacks
- Bike Lock and helmet
- Sunscreen
- A sense of humour
- Your best “I’m absolutely stopping for ice cream” attitude
If you want to, you can hire a bike at l [Blue Tongue Bike Rental](https://bluetonguebikes.com.au/) just across the river from where we start. please allow 15 minutes or so to arrange this.
Come roll with us, chat with strangers, and see Melbourne from angles you didn’t know existed.
**⚠️ Group Rules & Event Etiquette ⚠️**
These are basic, commonsense standards that keep events safe, smooth, and enjoyable for everyone.
**👟 Fitness Requirements**
Riding: 10–15 km/hr
We walk/ride at a relaxed pace. Please ensure you meet the fitness level for the event. If the group is forced to wait excessively, you may be asked to leave the event.
**⛹️ Pace: Too Fast or Too Slow**
Small social events rely on staying together. If you prefer a very different pace, consider going solo, joining a faster/slower group, or choosing events that match your fitness.
**👩💼 Time Constraints**
If you’re on a tight schedule, this may not be the right event. Social activities rarely run exactly on time.
**⚠️ CRITICAL EXPECTATIONS ⚠️**
**👻 No‑Shows**
No‑shows block waitlisted people from attending and disrupt small-group events.
- Remove yourself at least 24 hours before the event.
- No‑shows will likely be removed and blocked from the group.
- Last‑minute cancellations **(“flaking”)** may also result in group removal, especially when there is a waitlist.
**👀 Attending Without Being on the Going List**
This is a security issue.
**Do NOT turn up unannounced**.
If you’re not on the Going list and haven’t arranged it with the organiser beforehand, you will be asked to leave. Event check‑ins are performed.
**⏰ Late Arrivals**
If you’re late, the group will not wait.
- You may be marked as a No‑Show and removed from the group.
- It’s your responsibility to communicate and catch up—this may not be possible for some events.
**🎲 Second Chances**
If something goes wrong, communicate with the organiser. Silence + poor behaviour = removal. Communication + accountability = second chances. As the organiser is busy organising this may be impossible during the event.
**🚩Disclaimer: No Liability & Organiser Indemnity
By participating in this event, you acknowledge and accept full personal responsibility for your own safety, wellbeing, and belongings. The organiser assumes no liability for injury, loss, or damage incurred during the activity. Participation is entirely at your own risk.**
Monthly Social in the Northern Suburbs - Moon Dog - Preston
Our monthly Northern social is held at Moon Dog World in Preston. Moon Dog World is a brewery, restaurant and bar with a lagoon, waterfall, hidden tiki bar and much more!
Atmosphere is on the family restaurant side (dogs and kids a plenty!) but still a fun tropical style environment. Food is better than standard pub fare with exotic flavours and generous serves.
Fun for pretty much everyone, so come along and enjoy it with us.
Do you live in the Northern or perhaps even the Western suburbs and are interested in catching-up with like minded people? Come along for dinner and meet some friendly people.
Our group is informal and open to all. We pay for own food and drinks individually and there is no charge for the organisation of the events. It is a great opportunity to meet others with an emphasis on fun and supporting each other.
So whether you choose to come at the start for dinner or later on for drinks, we hope to see you. If something comes up and you can no longer make it, then you can easy change your RSVP to not going.
I am looking forward to catching up with those who can make it,
Chris

Play 3-Sided Soccer at Albert Park - mixed - social - all levels - all fitness
3 Teams. 3 Goals. Hexagonal Pitch. A game of alliance and betrayal in equal measure.
We are looking for new players and returning players alike to come play a match. Players of any ability, fitness level or background are welcomed - the game is intended to be fun for a Sunday morning rather than super competitive.
If you've never played before, that's okay - the rules are as simple as this:
* There's no offside - roam where you will
* Defend your goal at all costs
* No hands (this is soccer-style football after all)
Come down for 9:00am, we make some balanced teams and warm up for the match starting at 9:15.
Three thirds are played of 25 minutes each so we're usually done by about 11:00am. All fitness and soccer skill levels more than welcome and encouraged!
A note regarding junior players:
We very much enjoy and encourage junior players to come along and play however please be aware of the following:
* As most attendees are adults, all players must be a minimum of 1.5m tall and 13 years of age. Soccer may have incidental contact when contesting a ball, and we would hate for someone small to be injured as a result of running into someone larger than them.
* Any players under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a playing parent or guardian.
How to find us -
We meet on the astroturf pitch near the Baselball and Hockey clubs in Albert Park. The main location we use is called "Dorothy Coleman Field". If we aren't there then there may be a couple of other locations, [as noted on this dynamic map](https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1JdDwV4AOV5e-xP5d56m16-eu29GlnZQ&usp=sharing) \- generally we will follow in number order\.
Walk : Burnley to Goldy's! Tavern Collingwood 6.8km Yarra Trail
Starting from 'Friends of Mine' cafe in Burnley, we walk along the Yarra Trail for a short 6.8km walk to Goldy's Tavern in Collingwood. This pub offers a traditional pub experience with loads of character and charm. Arriving at around 12pm, we'll grab a drink and perhaps something to eat while we catch up on your previous adventures and plan future ones.
If you like a morning coffee, arrive earlier to grab a coffee ***before*** the meeting time. We meet at 10:30am for a 10:40am start. If you arrive late or you're waiting for your coffee order, you can catch up on the trail or meet at the destination. We leave on time to ensure we get to the venue as it opens at 12pm.
If you're new to the group, come along and meet some of the regular hikers and suggest your favorite hiking locations for the coming months.
The pace will be moderately brisk but not fast. We will not be stopping often to regroup. I will pause at the turns to help ensure no one misses them. **By attending, you agree to match the pace and stay in sight of the group or be comfortable navigating your own way to the destination.**
With the variability of this kind of event I will book a best guess close to the event and we will find extra tables or seats on the day if needed. We arrive just as the venue opens. The 'Going' list is for the walk and booking to keep the group size manageable. If you're on the 'Waitlist', you're welcome to join at the venue from 12pm and find your own table or grab a drink and mingle. If you miss out this month, look out for this again next month.
It's recommended you take public transport. The finish location transport options are:
* 900m walk to Victoria Park train station.
* Walk to nearby 86 trams on Smith St.
* 2.8km walk to Parliament Station
By attending, you agree to drink responsibly and take public transport if you're drinking.
**What to bring:**
* Water bottle
* Appropriate clothing if it's windy or possibility of rain
* Hats/Sunglasses/Sun protection if it's sunny

Hiking for Health and Happiness!
On the third Sunday of every month we take a walk in nature.
Exercise is so important to all of us and nature has its own unique way of healing.
It helps us live in the present, enjoy our surroundings, regain balance and perspective and be pleased with ourselves for going out and doing something.
And it costs nothing except time and effort.
Our hikes are all over Greater Melbourne and afar.
Generally our walks will be 2 to 2.5 hours of moderate grade. Those who want to go more quickly can but generally we try to stay as a group and enjoy the sounds and beauty of nature together.
Please read the waiver liability before you RSVP

JUGGER - soft-combat foam weapons, free to try!
2026 will be a big year for Jugger with the world championships in Germany taking place in September, so it's time to get training!
* ✅ Free to attend
* 🏏 Jugger Equipment is supplied
* 🍜 Post-training social lunch - all welcome
* 🏃♀️➡️ Ages 16 and over
* ➡️ [Find us on Discord](https://discord.gg/WHnMyk56Cu)
Jugger is an exciting, mixed-gender soft combat sport. Two teams use a selection of padded foam spars to tag opponents as they aim to put the jugg (the game ball) into their opponent's goal.
**Watch Jugger being played in [this excellent short demo video](https://vimeo.com/28592980).**
Jugger Melbourne training sessions include both full games of jugger, as well as a variety of training drills designed to promote **teamwork, communication, exercise, health and fitness, and teach core game skills.**
After training we head across to Glenferrie Rd for lunch and socializing, which you are welcome (and encouraged!) to join.
**🏃♀️➡️ New Player Info / Who Can Join**
New players are always welcome! Our experienced coaches will teach you basics to get you and and swinging in no time 😃 Jugger is easy to pickup the basics while deep to master.
We have a minimum age policy of 16 years, but other than that we welcome anyone of all fitness levels. Jugger is a great way to keep active, and a fun way to meet new people in a friendly and inclusive community!
**👟 How to Join a Session and What to Bring**
Joining is simple - just show up! RSVPing on Meetup or Discord is a big help as it helps us plan around expected numbers. You are also welcome to bring along any interested friends and family.
**Jugger equipment is supplied.** We have a collection of gear to loan out to new players.
Bring a water bottle (there is a tap nearby), sunscreen, and wear comfortable clothes and shoes for running around in - and that you don't mind getting a bit dirty!
Recommend but not required items include: sunglasses, football boots, kneepads, and gloves if you have them. You don't need any of these to get started, but you may find you want them if you become a regular.
**✅ Are there any costs are involved?**
Our training sessions are **free to attend** as often as you like, we are essentially just a group of friends that meet for training and socializing on the weekend.
The Australian Jugger League has a voluntary annual membership that helps to support the sport (including maintaining equipment and paying for Meetup), and we encourage people to join once they become a regular attendee or begin attending tournaments. However there's no obligation so spend any money when you're first trying it out or just attending casually.
**➡️ External Links**
We organise our regular players through our Discord group and their attendance is not often represented in the Meetup attendance numbers (we use Meetup to reach out to new people).
Events are also (though less regularly) posted to Facebook, while event photos and videos are shared on our Instagram.
