TOG Watch Night: The Secret Life of Components (Tim Hunkin)
TOG Watch Night: The Secret Life of Components (Tim Hunkin)
We’re kicking off a new bi-weekly Monday Watch Night at TOG. We’ll watch an episode of Tim Hunkin’s “The Secret Life of Components” together, then have a relaxed Q&A and discussion afterwards.
This is a friendly, low-pressure way to learn the kind of practical tips you normally only pick up through years of making, fixing, and building. Perfect for beginners, makers, repair folks, and engineers who enjoy the practical side of components and mechanisms.
How it works
\- Watch together \(one episode per night\)
\- Q&A and chat after: questions\, examples\, tangents\, and “how would we do this at TOG?”
\- If you miss a week\, no stress\. Watch it at home and come along to the next one
First session
\- Monday 26 January
\- Episode 1: Chain
\- Free and open to all
\- TOG Hackerspace \(Dublin 12\, D12 CF6V\)

Spiritual Walk in St. Anne's Park, Dublin.
If you have an interest in spiritual topics like Dreams, Past Lives, or Soul Travel, then join other like-hearted Souls in conversation and some exercise as we take a spiritual walk around St. Anne’s Park in Clontarf, Dublin.
**Location**
St. Anne’s Park contains some original features, including a walled garden, the grand avenue and a number of follies. In the last few decades, a rose garden, walking trails and the Millennium Arboretum have been added, which contain over 1000 varied trees.
**Meeting Time**
We’ll meet at 12:00 pm close to the entrance gate to the Red Stables, and go for a stroll from there. The weather will probably determine our route, but we are open to all suggestions.
**How to get there / Transport**
If you’re using public transport, the best bus to get is the 130 from Talbot Street, Dublin 1, to Park Lawn, and you’ll have a 5-minute walk to St. Anne’s Park, close to the Red Stables.
**Below are the routes which pass close to St. Anne’s Park.**
130, Talbot Street, to Mount Prospect Avenue.
H1, Abbey St Lower, to All Saints Road.
H2, Abbey St Lower, to All Saints Road.
H3, Abbey St Lower, to All Saints Road.
6, Abbey St Lower, to All Saints Road.
Please check the [Dublin Bus](http://www.dublinbus.ie/) website (http://www.dublinbus.ie/) for all updates on their services.
**The Train/DART station near St. Anne's Park is** Killester, about a 40 min walk, to the Red Stables, our meeting point. Also be aware that the DART line between Dun Laoghaire and Connolly will be closed on Monday, 6th April due to works on the line.
If you’re driving, there are a number of car parks in St Anne’s and some on-street parking nearby.
**Our Walk**
While walking, we will try to be present in the moment, be mindful of our thoughts, observe what is presented to us and what comes into our awareness. We'd love to hear your stories and any spiritual insights you’d like to share. We’re also happy to answer any spiritual questions you may have, offering Eckankar’s view of life and spirituality.
**Food**
You can bring some food for a picnic, and for sharing if you like. There is a nice cafe, Olive’s Room, at the Red Stables, but keep in mind, this closes at 5:00 pm.
You’re welcome to join us for as long as you wish to suit your own schedule. We’ll probably aim to return to the Red Stables around 3:00 pm.
**All are welcome!**

After Work Wednesday's!
Get over the mid week slump and come down to meet some new faces and relax. We try and go to a different bar every week and you can join us anytime after 18:30.
**How to find the group?**
\*We have an area reserved just for us so if you are new and unsure please ask any of the bar staff for the area reserved under the organisers name or if completely lost on the night please contact the event host and they'll come and find you.
**How does it work?**
\*After finding the group either the organiser will approach you and ask if you are looking for the meetup or you can just ask anyone "Is this the meetup?" and normally that is a great conversation opener to join the group. After that it's up to you what you make of the event. That is pretty much it. Easy right? We normally encourage people to stand as it's much easier to mingle that way.
**Nervous about coming to the event?**
\*While it's quite intimidating meeting a bunch of strangers from the internet we are a very welcoming group. We normally look out for new people and remember that everyone in the group has been new in the group at one point. If are you'd like extra help just contact the event host on the night.
**Interested in helping out?**
\*Let me (Éamonn) know as it would be greatly appreciated.
**Something happened?**
\*Please report it to the organiser as we cannot do anything to prevent it from happening again if we don't know about it. Even if it's something small please let the organiser know as they are probably unaware.
We aim to have the location up by Monday afternoon before the event. The bars we go to are all based in the city centre.
**See you on Wednesday!**
What is beauty?
We’ve all made the exclamation: “now, that is beautiful!” And life seems better, richer for it. What do we mean by ‘beauty’? What qualities does something require in order to be classified in such a way? What things can be given such label? Are there things that do not deserve to be called beautiful? Is beauty restricted to physicality? Is beauty merely subjective or does it have an objective framework? Is it a matter of the feminine side of life? Is it something internal or external?
Come along next Tuesday evening at the lovely Third Space Cafe Smithfield for a facilitated discussion about beauty. Newcomers are welcome.
NOTE: we ask for a 3 Euro donation to cover expenses. Pay on the evening by coin or Revolut.

Bad Girls Book Club April 2026
**Our April novel is: *The Hong Kong Widow* by Kristen Loesch**
**This month’s novel blends gothic atmosphere with historical fiction and chilling horror, set against the haunting backdrop of China. The book is 368 pages in print and 10 hours and 42 minutes on audiobook.**
In 1950s Hong Kong, Mei is a young refugee of the Chinese Communist revolution struggling to put her past in Shanghai behind her. When she receives a shocking invitation—to take part in a competition in one of the city's most notorious haunted houses, pitting six spirit mediums against one another in a series of six séances over six nights, until a single winner emerges—she has every reason to refuse.
Except that the hostess, a former Shanghainese silent film star, is none other than the wife of the man who once destroyed Mei’s entire life.
It is promised the winner will receive a fortune, but there is only one prize Mei wants: revenge.
Decades later, the final night of that competition has become an infamous urban legend: The police were called to the scene of a brutal massacre but found no evidence, dismissing it as a collective hallucination. Mei knows what she saw, but now someone else is convinced they know what she did. She must uncover the truth about the last night she ever spent in that house—even if the ghosts of her past are waiting for her there. . . .
Westerville Queer Coffee Meetup
WQC has weekly Thursday night social nights at the Westerville Java Central. Come and grab a coffee and connect with the community: low stakes, chill environment, and tasty drinks. No registration is required; come as you are.
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for April is "Water"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
Connected Westerville Night of Networking!
**Connected Westerville Night of Networking** *April Edition: The Introduction Economy*
You've been to the networking events. You've done the small talk. Collected the cards. Forgotten the names. And walked out feeling like you just wasted two hours of your life.
The problem isn't you. It's the format.
Most networking events put you in a room and tell you to figure it out. So everyone defaults to elevator pitches and business talk, and nothing real gets built.
Here's the truth about networking that most people miss: Your network isn't just who you know. It's who thinks of you when they're talking to someone else.
*That's* The Introduction Economy. And it only works when relationships are real.
There's a reason people who come once keep coming back. It starts with seven minutes that feel nothing like networking.
Then we open it up. Free networking. More conversations. More momentum.
This is a room full of corporate professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners, creatives, and career builders in the Westerville and Columbus area. The mix is the magic.
You might never do business with everyone you meet tonight. But someone in this room will think of *you.* **By name**. So, the next time someone needs exactly what you do, you get the recommendation.
**April 14th. RSVP now.**
**When:** Tuesday\, April 14th \| 6:15 PM \-\- 8:00 PM **Where:** Vineyard Community Center \| 6000 Cooper Rd\, Westerville\, OH 43081
