Handlung: Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts führten die aufklärerischen Gedanken von der Gleichheit aller Menschen dazu, dass sich immer mehr Menschen – einzeln oder organisiert - gegen die Jahrtausende alte Sklavenhaltung wendeten und sogar ihr ganzes Leben diesem Ideal eines gleichwertigen Zusammenlebens widmeten. 1772 verbot ein Gericht die Sklaverei auf englischem Boden. Auf Haiti führten aufgeklärte und freie Farbige einen Aufstand ab 1791 an, so dass diese damals reichste französische Kolonie 1804 unabhängig wurde – angeregt durch die Gedanken, die zur französischen Revolution führten.
