This is an opportunity for volunteers to support a professional mechanic as he guides customers working on their own bikes. If you know how to do some basic repairs, that's a plus, but even if you don't, you can greet customers and manage who gets helped next. Feel free to attend for only a portion of the time if you can't be there the whole three hours. Please note that this event is not usually an opportunity to learn about bicycle repair, since the mechanic tends to be very busy helping customers, especially during the warmer months. But it's a great way to contribute to Velocity, since almost all the funding for the volunteer program comes from the work done at the shops.

Hey Poetry Lovers! This group is on a roll. Here’s the gist: We meet at the **Capital One Café in Chinatown** from **12pm - 2pm** every other week. For enrichment, we start by reading and reflecting on a **“published poem”**, suggested by someone in the group. No advance preparation is necessary. Vintage handkerchiefs have wonderful graphics, perfect to create a crazy Quilt. We will cut our pieces using the **[Crazier Eights Template Quilt Ruler](https://artisticartifacts.com/products/crazier-eights-template-creative-grids-quilt-ruler)** by *Creative Grids USA* to create a small wall hanging. Working with vintage linens requires some special tricks Judy will cover in class. After we have sewn our blocks into a small quilt, we will use our machine’s decorative stitches using size 12 threads to sew patterns on our quilts. We will end class discussing adding buttons and beads for further embellishing as well as how to finish the quilt to hang. Come Craft with us at either the MLK Library or the Kogod atrium of the Portrait Gallery. There are generally knitters/crocheters/needle workers in both places. Our success has made us a fairly large group so we are meeting in both places on Saturdays. Don't let the lack of RSVPs stop you, they aren't required, nor is membership to our group. Bring your project and join a boisterous group of crafters in first floor of either building.
