Board Games Night - Ye Olde Swan
Board Games Night - Ye Olde Swan
Introducing Social Meeples! A local board game club based in Thames Ditton. Been running since mid 2023, however new to meetup as would love to welcome more new faces to our club. We run every two weeks on a Thursday evening - Ye Olde Swan from 7pm. The evening starts at 7pm usually flows as follows: Start of the night as people arrive, general socialising & start off with a quick group game. Once this concludes, we break into multiple groups depending on game type, interest and complexity & the night rolls on from there, generally finishing by 10pm. Each week members are encouraged to bring along games they wish to play & we choose games from the selection available on the night. We find this is a great way to play new games. We are beginner friendly; with a run down on the rules of each game before we start.
Thursday 5km run followed by pub drinks
Thursday 5km run followed by pub drinks
Please join us for our weekly run and social - a great (free!) way to meet new people! We meet at 7pm outside The Horatia ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/p1QnyurFQh3gywov6) and head for the run together from there. You can leave a small bag or extra layer at the pub at your own risk. The winter route is around Highbury Fields and in the summer we do a loop to Clissold Park, both ending at the starting point- the Horatia pub. We run 5km at an easy pace (about 6-7 mins per km), with some people going faster and some slower. After the run, we will head to the Horatia pub for some drinks (alcoholic and soft are fine- no judgment!).

Monthly Expat Pub Night: The Maple Leaf!
Monthly Expat Pub Night: The Maple Leaf! Hey Everyone! For our monthly pub night gathering (The Vandoos), we are heading to The Maple Leaf on a Friday! Please join your fellow Canadian Expats and friends of Canada for a great night of socializing! See you soon! David Mathews Leader - The London Expat Canadian Meetup Group About the London Vandoos The Vandoos is a group of like-minded and unlike-minded Canadians who get together on the 22nd of each month (or near about) at a selected London pub to meet new people and catch up with old friends. Guests and "honourary" Canadians are always welcome. The London Vandoos was originally formed as a Yahoo group and is the social arm of Network Canada. Past Network Canada President Dave Mathews organizes the monthly Vandoos Meetups. The evenings are very similar to the Monthly Monday night wings event... without the wings! The venues are announced roughly six to eight weeks prior to the event. Keep the 22nd of each month circled, something will be happening around that date! Hope to see you at a Vandoos gathering soon! [) The London Expat Canadian Meetup Group is dedicated to providing a harassment-free meetup experience for everyone. Our Code of Conduct outlines the standards and behaviours that help to shape and strengthen our community group. All event participants are expected to uphold these high standards, ensuring fellowship within a community of Canuck-minded people. COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
