Ping Pong is all about Beer, Bragging rights and making Buddies! Come along to the Ping Pong Social at Bounce Shoreditch to unwind, meet likeminded people and of course show off your whiff whaff skills! This event is crafted to serve both serious Table Tennis players with lots of challenges & tournaments, as well as the social players with tailor made games for singles, couples, colleagues & friends. With music playing and drinks flowing you will be able to choose from a variety of creative and quirky games including Ping Pong Tournaments, Social Doubles, Round Pong, Weapon Pong etc. There will be prizes for winners that include bottle of Prosecco & Medals and free entry to future events. INTRODUCTION Join us for some focused coworking writing or reading time. All experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing and reading done and meeting other literacy enthusiasts in the area. EARLY ARRIVALS around 6:30pm When you show up, the group will be located in the large room next to the fireplace. Take a seat and settle in and spend some time to chat with your fellow writers before the start of the session if you like. START OF SESSION around 6:45pm I’ll set timers for our no-talking and focused writing sessions (write, break, write, end). END OF SESSION around 8:30pm Afterward, there’s time to hang out, and many people stay for over an hour. Perhaps to chat and get to know each other. Scarecrow in a Garden of Cucumbers is a musical comedy that follows aspiring actress Eve Harrington, as she moves from Kansas to the big city of New York, embarks on a series of misadventures and meets a collective of crazy local characters. Oh, and she happens to be played by a trans actress, a pretty big deal then as it still seems to be now. It stars Warhol acolyte Holly Woodlawn\* and features guest spots from Bette Midler, Lily Tomlin and David Marguiles (the mayor in Ghostbusters). The easy comparison would be John Waters, but to my eyes this looks like it has more in common with the kind of subversive, chaotic early 70's urban comedies made by Milos Forman (Taking Off) and Brian de Palma (Hi, Mom!). It's a rare screening of an obscure cult movie which looks like a hoot IMO, and besides, it was either this or Swingers at the PCC. Anyway, this is a Bar Trash movie, which means a 20 minute-plus intro, an intermission, spot quizzes and an air of outrageous campness throughout. It's not for everyone, but I really appreciate the unusual film choices and passion that goes into this (not to mention the opportunity to watch a movie in a bar). For this event, we’ll help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents, wash dishes and clean surfaces at Fath Mission – Grant Kitchen. We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “Create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. Our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:15am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
