The Last Waltz (1978)
Stop Making Sense was a landmark cinematic achievement, a concert film made by an established film director that looked and sounded amazing. But it wasn't the first. In the middle of a decade that encompassed Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and King of Comedy, Martin Scorsese filmed the star-studded farewell concert by The Band and he did so in style: seven cameras, at least three of which were operated by top Hollywood cinematographers.
So, who were The Band? Bob Dylan chose them as his backing band when he went electric. After splitting off, they made a clutch of very good folk rock albums and their best known songs (The Weight, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Up on Cripple Creek) are regarded as classics.
After about a decade together, they decided to say goodbye with an extravaganza of a show that illustrated their standing in the musical community - the guest list of performers included Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, The Staple Singers, Neil Diamond, Muddy Waters and Ringo Starr. Sounds really good through a cinema sound system too!

Young LGBTQ+ Professionals Drinks
\*\* Please RSVP - this helps the venue plan ahead and ensure enough space is reserved for us \*\*
Hey everyone!
Are you a young professional in your 20s/30s looking to meet other LGBT young professionals? Then we hope to see you at the upcoming Tuesday drinks! Most people come to these drinks by themselves, and half of the people are first-timers, so these evenings are great to meet new people in London.
We have tables reserved on the top floor (loft) of The Yard bar in Soho. Go into the Yard, turn left, and head upstairs. Just ask the bar for the tables reserved for the "Meetup". We usually have the tables opposite to the bar.
Many have noticed that it can be difficult to meet up with the LGBT community once you leave university or come to a big new city such as London. For this reason we've decided to start organising drinks for young professionals, intended for those who love to have a drink with like-minded people after a busy day of work. Do spread the word, and bring friends, colleagues and family!
Frequently Asked Questions:
It's my first time and I'm coming alone, should I be nervous?
No, you found the right event! Almost everyone joins these drinks alone and there are always a bunch of first timers. Just grab a drink and say hi to those around the reserved tables and you'll be absolutely fine :)
I cannot make it at 7.00pm, can I come later?
Yes, definitely! There will always be one of the organisers present from 7.00pm onwards, but most people just join whenever they can. There is no official 'start' so to say, and it usually stays busy till around 10pm-11pm. For first timers it can be easier to mingle if you come before 8pm, when it's not that busy yet.
How often are the drinks and where are they held?
We have drinks every two weeks from 7.00pm at The Yard Bar in Soho. Sometimes we organise other events such as big nights out, pub crawls and picnics. Just keep an eye on the Meetup page.
Is there a dress code?
Nope, not at all. Just wear whatever you want.
Is there a cost?
Only for whatever drinks you buy at the bar.
That said, if you enjoy the Meetup, we would really welcome any cash donations to help cover our costs for running the events. However, you will never be directly asked for any money from any of our team.
Are the Tuesday drinks for networking?
No, the drinks are super casual, and not intended to find your new dream job. We have people from all different professional backgrounds, so it's always cool to hear what others are up to.
I don't drink alcohol, can I come?
Of course! Since it's on a Tuesday many take it easy, so you won't be an outlier.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to pop any of our organisers a message. Looking forward to meeting you all!
Xx The young LGBTQ+ professionals team Xx
Fighting the good fight - Marvel Champions!
Heroes!
We will be meeting up to play Marvel Champions .We will meet inside The Ludoquist from 6.30pm, and split into groups of 4 or less before choosing villains to defeat inside.
The session will be charged by The Ludoquist at £5 (payable on the night).
We will have pre-built decks available to play on the night for beginners, but we otherwise advise bringing along a couple of decks to arrange groups on the night (and maybe one or two substitute allies).
People don't always sign up here, but you can check in [on our Discord](https://discord.com/invite/2KUZYKSFc9) to see if people are coming!
FULL - Board Games Night @ Costa | London 20s and 30s
**On Tuesday 16th June, we're excited to be hosting our latest FREE Board Games Night, exclusively for 20s and 30s.**
Yep that's right - to mark Loneliness Awareness Week, we'll be teaming up with Costa Coffee once again to transform a regular cafe into a Board Games Cafe for the evening.
For this, we've booked out the whole venue near Southwark and bringing our usual fantastic collection of some of the most popular games that youāll be able to choose from.
From classics like **Exploding Kittens** and **Codenames**, social deduction games like **Werewolf** and **Chameleon**, to party games like **Dixit** and **Scrawl**, youāre sure to find something youāll love.
On top of this, you're also welcome to bring your own games that you love or have been excited to play with a group, providing they are short, easy to learn and accessible games.
Best of all, over the course of the evening, you'll be able to mix around, meet lots of friendly 20s and 30s - whilst playing a range of different games.
So if you're looking to play some games, meet new people, and have a laugh then we'd love to have you join us for this.

The Alt/Cult Karaoke Night
Everyone who's been nagging me to put this on, well you got it! A night of open-room karaoke in the middle of London. Why open room? Bigger song selection, no one feels under pressure to sing and no one has to pay.
We're doing this at [The Britannia](https://www.britanniamonument.com) in Monument, just up the road from London Bridge. It serves food and has karaoke 'til late on Fridays (and Thursdays and Saturdays, apparently), and I'll book a table once I get an idea of numbers. Sing whatever you want or just hang out, but remember: it's not about being 'good', it's about being entertaining and having fun!
The Traitors Live! Faithfuls and traitors welcome
If youāre a fan of *The Traitors*, this is the meetup for you... Faithfuls, traitors, and excellent detectives all welcome!
Weāre heading to **The Traitors: Live Experience** in Covent Garden for an evening of deception, alliances, suspicion and dramatic accusations. Expect a really fun interactive night out with plenty of twists ā and hopefully a few of us making it to the end with our dignity intact.š¤
Iāve done this experience before and really enjoyed it, so Iām excited to go back with a group and hope youāll love it too. Great if you love the show, enjoy a bit of theatre, or just fancy trying something a bit different.
You can find out more about the experience at [https://www.thetraitorslive.co.uk/](https://www.thetraitorslive.co.uk/)
**Helpful info:**
* Tickets cost **Ā£39.50.**
* The venue is at **60 Shorts Gardens, Covent Garden, WC2H**, around a **3-minute walk from Covent Garden station**.
* The experience starts at 8pm, but the doors open **30 minutes earlier**, so itās a good idea to arrive in good time to check in, drop your cloak, and grab a drink at the bar first.
* This shouldn't apply to anyone in our group, but I do need to flag that this is an **18+ session**.
* The game itself is 2 hours, but they advise that with pre-drinks, etc., it can be up to 3 hours in total.
