This is becoming a popular relaxing walk, and if you have not been able to come along, do come if you can. Come and join me and Keith on a lovely 6 mile walk following the River Wandle starting at Sainsbury's near Colliers Wood Tube Station and ending up at The Hope Pub near Carshalton Station. We will meet at the cafe in Marks & Spencers on Merton High Street at 10.30 am for coffee and will start our walk at 11.00 am { to get to the Cafe,, you come out of Colliers Wood Station, and walk straight along the high street, cross over the traffic lights, and keep walking till you see the shopping mall on your left, walk over the bridge into the shopping mall go up the escalator and Marks and Spencer is on your right at the top of the escalator.} Our walk will take us along river paths, passing water mills and weirs, and with plenty of wildlife to see, so time will be allowed to take photographs. We will visit the wetlands board walk which is worth seeing, and will have a 30 minute break at the Café in Morden Hall Park, where toilets are also available. After our break we will carry on along the Wandle Trail ending up at Carshalton Ponds where we leave the Wandle and make our way to The Hope Pub for a late lunch. With Carshalton Station being 5 minutes away with trains going direct to Victoria and London Blackfriars or Sutton{ where you can change to go to London Bridge} If is advisable to wear walking boots, as some of the paths can get quite muddy, and if you have a knee problem or walk slow this walk is definitely not for you. WELCOME! We’re a supportive community, and I’m here to organise this Meetup space. I’m looking foreword to seeing it grow and become a regular place for people to get-together. I also invite likemindeded people with shared interests from society. I hope this develops into a fully fledged, shared, literacy lounging experience. INTRODUCTION Join us for some focused coworking writing or reading time. All experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing and reading done and meeting other literacy enthusiasts in the area. EARLY ARRIVALS around 6:30pm When you show up, the group will be located in the large room next to the fireplace. Take a seat and settle in and spend some time to chat with your fellow writers before the start of the session if you like. START OF SESSION around 6:45pm I’ll set timers for our no-talking and focused writing sessions (write, break, write, end). END OF SESSION around 8:30pm Afterward, there’s time to hang out, and many people stay for over an hour. Perhaps to chat and get to know each other. Everyone tends to talk about their successes and challenges as writers/readers or similar interesting topics. If we don’t have time to stick around, no worries! We’re here every week anyway!! Join us for the May meeting of the Greenwich Film Club! Movie choice is 'Rose of Nevada'. Rose of Nevada is a British science fiction drama film written, edited, composed and directed by Mark Jenkin. Starring George MacKay and Callum Turner, the film tells the story of a fishing vessel that was lost at sea 30 years ago, and mysteriously reappears in the harbour of a fishing village. Watch the movie in your own time, ahead of the meetup. Then we'll meet up at 7pm at The Sail Loft pub in Greenwich (SE10 9FR) on Wednesday 13th May to discuss the movie! (Just ask for the table for Elisha when you get to the pub) Once the group has settled a bit - for future months, we'll probs organise an optional cinema trip to see the movie as a group at the Greenwich Picturehouse. Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area.
