Having Fun with C++ Coroutines - Michael Hava
š¢ Main event starts at 18:30 CET
⨠This is a pre-premiere for the using std::cpp 2026 conference!
Michael is **member of the C++ Standardization Committee** and founding member of the **Austrian C++ working group.**
He regularly presents at the **using std::cpp** conference in Madrid.
*Coroutines have a long history, dating back to the late 1950s. Language-level support has been added in C++20, yet their adoption is comparatively low and there is a perception of them being only necessary for asynchronous programming.*
*This talk will start with the abstract idea of coroutines, present high-level libraries included in C++26 and go over caveats users need to be aware of when using coroutines.*
*Afterwards we will do a deep dive into the C++ coroutine framework, implementing a high-level facility that is not already provided by the standard library.*
ā”Would you like to contribute with a **short item** (2 to 10 minutes)
* Share an article you found interesting!
* Review a book!
* Give a lightning talk!
**Please get in touch**: main@cppusergroupvienna.org
šŖ We appreciate any **voluntary donations** on-site.
ā±ļø Arrive early for pre-socializingāsimple snacks and drinks will be provided.
š After the event, we will relocate to a pizzeria (at your own expense).

Innate Dance Class
**What is Innate Dance?**
Innate Dance is a joyful approach to movement, which invites deeper embodiment and self-connection through butoh inspired movement, Noguchi Taiso exercises, the Seki Method, somatic attention and imagination. We shake it out, breaking up stuck energy held in the body, and explore new movement possibilities from a place of alignment and sensitivity. Thanks to our open awareness we can be surprised by lesser-known parts of ourselves and come to appreciate our innate wisdom in movement. Through exercises, explorations and improvisations we build trust in the body that knows how it would like to move and express itself, and when we follow our innate dance, it just feels good! There is also time and space to dance freely, to enjoy the music in your body and to let go! Ultimately, it's about feeling more 'in' our body and grounding joy.
**When? Where? How much?**
**Mondays 19:30-21:00**
in Studio 2, Tanz\*Hotel, Zirkusgasse 35, 1020 Wien

**Who teaches the course?**
Jess is a dancer and psychotherapist (humanistic and integrative), who loves shaping classes that offer the space to explore the many facets of being human. Sometimes this learning involves physically embodying non-humans like trees, fish and wind, so we can get out of our limited-human-thinking-mind and into the bigger wisdom available through imagination and our body. At other times it's about dancing textures, sensations or taking on the energy of parts of ourselves so we can know them better. Jess has danced all her life and has been exploring butoh dance for the past eleven years alongside her psychotherapeutic practice. She is co-author of *The Seki Method - Basics* (now available to buy online via website), is a Seki Method Facilitator, and was a 2024 student at the Im_Flieger Schule researching dance and healing.

Vienna.rb #67 - Ruby Spring Meetup

Are you interested in the Ruby language or Ruby on Rails? Join us. We have great talks, good vibes, and yummy snacks! š
**Talks**
\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~
š£ļø [Peter Solnica](https://solnic.dev/)
ā¶ļø Structured Logging in Ruby: Where We Are and Where We're Heading
šļø Ruby's logging ecosystem is evolving, and there's a lot of momentum to build on. In this talk, we'll explore the current state of logging in Ruby and compare it with ecosystems like Elixir, where a more capable, well-designed logger is built right into the standard library. We'll dive into recent developments in Rails - including its new structured events API - and how they connect to the broader picture of structured logging, error handling, and tracing. Along the way, we'll build a vision for what Ruby's standard library could offer: a powerful, extendable logger that makes structured logging a natural part of every Ruby project.
š£ļø [Marie-Therese Fischer ](https://fischer.codes/)
ā¶ļø Building Games with Ruby
šļø What do you end up with when you strip Rails from a Rails developer? Plain Ruby. Join me as I explore the language behind the framework through the lens of game development. By building a simple terminal game and a 2D platformer, Iāll break down the essential building blocks every game is built on - from loops and input handling to visuals. We'll look at how stepping away from the 'magic' of Rails to build games can lead to a deeper understanding of Ruby logic and application structure.
š£ļø [Christoph Lipautz](https://github.com/unused)
ā¶ļø The Art of Testing Nothing
šļø Traditional CI/CD pipelines often waste significant resources re-validating unchanged code, creating a bottleneck in the development lifecycle. This session explores the results of my attempts to shift from exhaustive execution to smart omission. I'll discuss how doing nothing turns into a technical strategic advantage while maintaining confidence.

CBusData - Discover the Power of Window Functions
Window functions have nothing to do with the Windows operating system but provide a āwindowā to a result set when used in SQL queries. They are powerful, set-based methods to view data in unexpected ways. Window functions provide easy, set-based solutions to solve some common problems:
* Using running totals
* Performing operations in intervals
* Identifying data gaps and islands
* Performing aggregates without losing detail
Many people are confused by window functions and do not know how to use them properly. This session will explore window functions, how they work, and how to use them. Demonstrations with several examples will solidify how window functions can simplify queries and make them more powerful.
