· Wrong · by Quentin Dupieux @ Beatley Library
· Wrong · by Quentin Dupieux @ Beatley Library
Oddball Cinema’s Sunday-afternoon shows at Beatley Library in 2026 will be devoted to unfamiliar realities; that is, movies in which the universe simply doesn’t work the way anyone except the filmmakers would expect. In today’s feature, Dolph Springer, a resident in an ordinary house in an ordinary suburb, wakes up one morning to realize that his dog Paul has disappeared. He begins his quest to find Paul logically: he goes out looking for him, asks around if anyone has seen him, etc. Alas, logic will not provide a solution because Dolph lives in a universe where cause-and-effect does not apply. Please refrain from shouting out questions like, “why did that happen?” or “why is that character doing that?” No one will save you from your own confusion, and everyone will be laughing too hard to care anyway. ■ Title — *Wrong* ■ Director — Quentin Dupieux ■ Cast — Jack Plotnick, Eric Judor, Alexis Dziena, William Fichtner ■ Unrated, suitable for teens and adults ■ ©2012 \| 1h 34m \| Comedy\, Mystery\, Lunacy ■ Distributed by Giant Pictures

Jan Meetup: Normal People by Sally Rooney
Jan Meetup: Normal People by Sally Rooney
Note: RSVPs for this meetup open when our last meetup ends. For January, we will be reading Normal People by Sally Rooney. It was first published in 2018 and the hardcover version runs 273 pages. The GoodReads blurb is At school Connell and Marianne pretend not to know each other. He’s popular and well-adjusted, star of the school soccer team while she is lonely, proud, and intensely private. But when Connell comes to pick his mother up from her housekeeping job at Marianne’s house, a strange and indelible connection grows between the two teenagers - one they are determined to conceal. A year later, they’re both studying at Trinity College in Dublin. Marianne has found her feet in a new social world while Connell hangs at the sidelines, shy and uncertain. Throughout their years in college, Marianne and Connell circle one another, straying toward other people and possibilities but always magnetically, irresistibly drawn back together. Then, as she veers into self-destruction and he begins to search for meaning elsewhere, each must confront how far they are willing to go to save the other. Sally Rooney brings her brilliant psychological acuity and perfectly spare prose to a story that explores the subtleties of class, the electricity of first love, and the complex entanglements of family and friendship.

Bad Girls Book Club January 2026
Bad Girls Book Club January 2026
**Our January novel is: Once Upon a Wardrobe by Patti Callahan** **This month's featured novel is a 20th-century biographical fiction, coming-of-age, historical romance, women’s fiction, world literature, student biography, heartfelt, magic, and feel-good novel. The book is 311 pages in print and 7 hours and 8 minutes on audiobook.** 1950: Margaret Devonshire (Megs) is a seventeen-year-old student of mathematics and physics at Oxford University. When her beloved eight-year-old brother asks Megs if Narnia is real, logical Megs tells him it's just a book for children, and certainly not true. Homebound due to his illness, and remaining fixated on his favorite books, George presses her to ask the author of the recently released novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe a question: "Where did Narnia come from?" Despite her fear about approaching the famous author, who is a professor at her school, Megs soon finds herself taking tea with C. S. Lewis and his own brother Warnie, begging them for answers. Rather than directly telling her where Narnia came from, Lewis encourages Megs to form her own conclusion as he shares the little-known stories from his own life that led to his inspiration. As she takes these stories home to George, the little boy travels farther in his imagination than he ever could in real life. After holding so tightly to logic and reason, her brother's request leads Megs to absorb a more profound truth: "The way stories change us can't be explained. It can only be felt. Like love."

Online Masterclass: The Private Lender’s Thrival Guide with Goodwin Yee
(Note: RSVPing here on meetup does NOT reserve your seat. To do that, you’ll need to register at our website, **[HERE](https://www.coreerocks.com/Events.aspx?ID=Online-Masterclass-The-Private-Lender-s-Thrival-Guide-14-1-24-2026)**.) Private lending got riskier in 2025—and pretending it didn’t is how lenders are gonna get burned in 2026. Deals are taking longer to sell. Rents aren’t hitting projections, but expenses are exceeding them. And lenders who relied on loose underwriting, minimal paperwork, and “It’s Ok, I trust you” terms are finding out why those habits only work in hot markets. That’s why we’re hosting this all-day, online workshop **designed for people who are already private lenders—or want to be—and want to protect their money in a slower, flatter 2026 market.** You’ll learn how to evaluate deals, borrowers, and paperwork the right way, how to structure safer loans, and how to deal with troubled loans before they become disasters. This session is open to members and non-members at all experience levels. It’s as little as $47 for members and $97 for non-members (which is CHEAP compared to missing even one payment on a private loan!) if you register by January 22nd. The workshop will be recorded, and all registrants receive the recording, so sign up even if you can’t “be there”. Oh, and there’s a 100% satisfaction guaranteed or your money back. Remember, to actually reserve your seat, you have to go **[HERE](https://www.coreerocks.com/Events.aspx?ID=Online-Masterclass-The-Private-Lender-s-Thrival-Guide-14-1-24-2026)** and register on our website!
