Whether monarchs hold political or only representative power, many would defend that monarchies belong to the past, enfuriating others whose attachment to their royals remains strong. Tourism, lack of privacy and choice, patriotism and 'selective' bloodlines are some of the many reasons one could think of before choosing to make fun of a reigning monarch. Join us as we debate the following motion: this house would not mock a reigning monarch. This debate will follow a British Parliamentary format with eight debaters split into **four teams of two.** Participants who wish to speak are highly encouraged to bring a paper and pen. You are welcome to participate even if you have no prior debating experience. **Day Trip to the Strépy-Thieu Boat Lift** This time we're escaping Brussels for a relaxed day by one of Belgium's most impressive engineering landmarks. Even though the boat lift building itself is currently closed to visitors, we'll explore the area, walk around the canal and set up our picnic in one of the quieter spots nearby. Originally, *sashiko* was used in Japan to repair holes in clothes, reinforcing them and allowing the scarce fabrics to be used for as long as possible. Nowadays *sashiko* is becoming popular in the world from the spirits and the fair of rustic simplicity. We suggest enjoying to find ideas and your new creation, and to savour the moment through *sashiko*. At first, you will learn what is Sashiko and know the tools and materials; the needles, the threads, the fabrics for sashiko and what is the stitching rules. This talk shows how you get from raw joints to a "thumbs-up" in Unity: the pipeline that cleans up the data, how a gesture becomes a few 0-to-1 values within tolerance, and why orientation matters as much as finger shape. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs. In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling. The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options. **YouTube Link** TBD

June meetup at the Library. We’ll play games and have casual conversation in Japanese and in English. All levels of Japanese ability, from non-speaker to native, are welcome. After the meetup we will go out to eat at a local restaurant.

Dodgeball is back again! If you’ve been wanting to come out, this is an easy one to join. We’ll be playing for about 1.5 to 2 hours, you do not need to bring any equipment, and no experience is needed. We use a specific set of rules and equipment to make the games run better and keep them fun for everybody, not just people who already know how to play. If it rains, the event will be canceled.
