Let's Be Honest Together
This event has a different topic each time and includes a variety of interactive exercises. It's an engaging and creative way to express ourselves, and connect with how others think, feel and deal with life. We will aim to provide a supportive and sate environment and open up about our lives freely.
A lot of times we don't talk about what we are really going through because we are worried of what people might think of us. This causes us to bottle things up, feel disconnected with the people around us or feel ashamed of ourselves.
Anything you share in the session is confidential and shall not be disclosed outside of the room.
Please only RSVP if you intend to come and change your RSVP to 'No' if you are not going to be able to attend.
• **PRICE:** 5 € to cover the room (Revolut/Cash/ Paypal). Please pay the fee after the workshop.
• **TIME:** We will start at 19:25 and finish at 20:55.
Please be on time, to respect other members in the group.
• **VENUE:** We are meeting at the Abbey Presbyterian Church - Parnell Square N, Rotunda, Dublin 1 (entrance on the side of Frederick St.). The room is on the first floor, at the back on your left.
• **NOTE:** Even though the event is held in a religious institution, the group and the event are entirely secular and the exercises are by no means related to spirituality or religion.

[SOLD OUT] [FREE / TICKETED] Lecture: Amazon, aristocrat or democrat?
Free, ticketed, lecture on women & Irish politics in the age of revolution by Dr Catriona Kennedy.
Link to the tickets in the comments section.
Meeting time: 615pm
Meeting place: just inside the main entrance.
Start time: 630pm.
Thanks!
Alan.
"The late eighteenth-century ‘age of revolutions’ is widely regarded as a formative moment in the gendering of modern democratic politics—one that opened up debates on the ‘rights of women’ even as it reaffirmed the masculinity of the political citizen. In Ireland, this era witnessed the rise of the radical United Irish movement, unprecedented popular mobilisation, and the violent dénouement of the 1798 rebellion. Catriona Kennedy’s latest book Women, Politics and the Irish Public Sphere in the Age of Revolution (Oxford University Press, 2025) reconsiders what this revolutionary moment meant for women. Revising a stubborn tendency to present women as satellites of their male relatives’ ideological planets, it stresses instead their distinctive concerns, networks, and initiatives.
This lecture will introduce some of the women who feature in the book and explore how they negotiated the intense ideological conflicts of the 1790s. These include the formidable Elizabeth Rawdon, Countess of Moira, who in 1792 invited Theobald Wolfe Tone to dine and discuss politics with her; the democrat Martha McTier, who, while her brother served as President of the Dublin Society of United Irishmen, pursued her own female-led organising in Belfast; and the propertied Catholic women who, as their male counterparts moved increasingly toward republican revolution, were engaged in a devotional revolution of their own."

TOG Turns 17: Birthday Open Social, Pizza, Cake, and a Bit of Craic
TOG is turning **17**, and we’re marking it the best way we know how: by rolling our regular **Open Social Night** into a proper **birthday session** with **pizza, cake, and plenty of chatting, tinkering, and general messing**.
If you’ve been meaning to drop in for ages, this is a lovely one to start with. If you’re a regular, you already know the vibe: good people, interesting projects on benches, and the sort of conversations that start with “what’s that board?” and end up with someone soldering at 1am.
### When and where
* **Date:** **Saturday 24th January**
* **Time:** **7:00pm until late**
* **Location:** **TOG Hackerspace**
The space stays open until the last member calls it a night, which often means we drift happily into the small hours of Sunday morning. Pop in for 10 minutes or stay for the whole stretch, you’re very welcome.
### What to expect
* **Homemade pizza** from the TOG pizza oven, rolling out through the evening
* **Birthday cake** (because we’re not animals)
* **A relaxed open evening**: tours, chats, and a look at whatever weird and wonderful builds are on the go
* **Community craic**: talk, tunes, and the usual “oh go on, I’ll show you how that works” energy
Our Open Social Nights are an easy, no-pressure way to see the space and meet the people. There’s no agenda and no expectation that you’re “good at” anything. Curiosity is the only requirement.
### Make a full day of it: Finish-a-thon earlier that day
This birthday party is happening the **same day as our Finish-a-thon**, running **11:00am to 7:00pm**. So if you’ve got a project half-done, a box of parts staring at you, or a nagging “I really should finish that”, you can spend the day getting it wrapped up, then roll straight into the birthday celebrations at 7pm.
Have a look here for the Finish-a-thon details:
[https://www.tog.ie/2026/01/a-day-to-finish-what-you-started-finish-a-thon-2/](https://www.tog.ie/2026/01/a-day-to-finish-what-you-started-finish-a-thon-2/)
### What to bring
We’ll have food covered between pizza and cake, but feel free to bring along:
* A drink (or your beverage of choice)
* Snacks to share
* A project to show off, or something you want advice on
* A friend who’s curious about makerspaces
We’ve also got **plenty of free parking**, so it’s handy to swing by with gear, gadgets, or something for show-and-tell.
### Come celebrate 17 years of TOG
Seventeen years of TOG is a bit mad, in the best way. What started as a small group of people who wanted a place to build and learn has grown into a proper community workshop full of skills, tools, and good humour.
So come in, grab a slice of pizza, have a wander, meet the crew, and help us celebrate.
**See you Saturday 24th January from 7pm.**

***Running time: 139 minutes***
Man-su (Lee Byung Hun), a specialist in paper manufacturing with 25 years of experience, is so satisfied with life that he can truthfully tell himself, “I’ve got it all.” While happily passing his days with his wife Miri (Son Yejin), their two children and two dogs, Man-su is suddenly informed by his company that he has been fired. “We’re sorry. We have no other choice.” Feeling shocked as if his head had been cut off by an ax, Man-su vows to find himself a new job within the next three months for the sake of his family. Despite his firm resolve to turn his life around, Man-su spends over a year drifting from one job interview after another, and working at a retail store. He eventually finds himself in danger of losing the very house that he struggled so hard to buy. Desperate, he visits Moon Paper out of the blue and tries to hand over his CV, but he just ends up getting humiliated by line manager Choi Sun-chul (Park Hee Soon). Man-su knows he is better qualified than anyone to work at Moon Paper, so he comes to a certain decision.

Improv Workshop
Come join local improv troupe, the ***Home Improv Mints***, as we run through some of the basics of short form improv. Wear clothes you can move around in.
We will start at **7:15**. We will run until just after 9 pm. Bring yourself and a willingness to try new things - like (insert audience suggestion here)!
We try a different topic each session to see if it changes who sees the announcement. There might not be bobwhite imitations, hyena butter, lava floors, trans livestock, thalidomide twinkies or inflatable turnips (all things that HAVE come up), but we can promise something *random*.
But we encourage you to bring cookies. NOM NOM NOM!
We only have so many slots available. **Please don't RSVP as a yes *until* you are certain.** We limit the class size so everyone gets a chance to play, and ask for RSVPs so we know how many outlines to print and cookies to bring.
We understand things change sometimes. Please message us if things change and you can't make it, rather than being a No-Show. Multiple No-shows get you put on the naughty list and may get you ejected from the group. Please don't make us do that.
Please donate - *running* a Meetup group ain't free folks. Suggested Donation is $10/session. And feel free to bring more cookies. Everybody likes cookies.
Hope to see you then!
