PyData Berlin 2026 March Meetup

Layoffs, longer job searches, and rapid shifts driven by AI are leaving many professionals wondering about their next move. In this interactive AMA session, Valentina Scipione will answer your questions about careers in tech. Bring anything you have been wondering about, for example: * navigating the current job market * what hiring managers actually look for * career transitions within tech * job search strategy * how AI may reshape roles in data and engineering No slides. Just your questions and an open conversation. **Speaker:** Valentina Scipione **Bio:** Valentina Scipione is a Career and Leadership Coach, Engineering Manager, and hiring manager with a background in Astrophysics and more than a decade of experience in software engineering and quality. Based in Berlin and co-organiser of the PyData Berlin community, she brings together leadership experience and professional coaching to help tech professionals build more fulfilling careers with strategy, not autopilot. **Talk 2: Solving real life problems with basic Python** **Abstract:** 2 years ago I had the privilege and pleasure of meeting an amazing person who invited me to join the Python en Español community. This community is mainly aimed at people who have 0 to no knowledge about the language and they want to learn. The recurring problem for many of these practitioner is to find good real life examples to practice their skills. Did you know that you can solve 90% of business problems with only prints and inputs? well, maybe that was a lie but not far off from the truth. In this talk I want to guide you on how you can solve a real life case scenario of a business wanting to adjust the prices of their articles base on real time demand. Starting with a few variables an input and a print and slowly grow into a real time system consuming from different sources, to answer the hardest question there is. Was it worth it? or should we have stopped at reading from files 7 iterations ago? **Speaker:** Eric Rishmüller **Bio:** Eric works as a Lead Data Engineer at Thomann Musikhaus. He has been living in Berlin for the past five years and is originally from Argentina. Eric started sharing his passion for Python seven years ago and is quite active in Spanish-speaking Python communities. **Lightning talks** There will be slots for 2-3 Lightning Talks (3-5 Minutes for each). Kindly let us know if you would like to present something at the start of the meetup :) \*\*\* NumFOCUS **Code of Conduct** THE SHORT VERSION Be kind to others. Do not insult or put down others. Binge Eating and Bulimia Recovery – Women Support Group in Berlin
Binge Eating and Bulimia Recovery – Women Support Group in Berlin
**\>\> Please note that the event's location will be sent to you once you RSVP <<** Hey, I’m Annabelle, and I’m a recovering bulimic. I struggled with bulimia for 15 years, and I’ve always wished there was a space where I could talk about it openly, without judgment, without shame, just honesty, support, and people who *get it*. People who are also on this journey. People who want to heal and figure out who they are beyond bulimia. So, I decided to create that space. **What is this group about** * A space where you can talk about your **binge eating or bulimia** without feeling judged. * A space to reconnect with yourself — the *you* that exists beyond the eating disorder. * A space for support and real connection with people who are going through (or have been through) the same thing. * A place to share your wins *and* your hard days, and be met with encouragement and support. **What to expect** * Journaling prompts, discussions, games, readings from ED-related literature, meditations, and more. * Deeper conversations — not just about the ED, but about who you are underneath it all. **Who is this for?** * **This group is open to women who are struggling with binge eating or bulimia and *want to recover.*** **What this *isn't*** * This is not therapy. I’m not a therapist and won’t be giving advice on nutrition, exercise, or anything medical. * This is not a place to talk about numbers, weight, calories, or daily food habits. * This is not a place to give unsolicited advice. If someone asks for support, great — but advice will only be shared if it’s asked for. * This is *definitely* not a space that promotes or glorifies eating disorders. **A bit about me** I’m 33, I live in Berlin, and I have a very eclectic taste in music — but I always come back to Nightwish. When I’m not reading memoirs or self-help books, you’ll usually find me looking for a new café around the city or walking in the forest or a park. Some of my favorite podcasts include *The Rich Roll Podcast*, *How I Built This*, *We Can Do Hard Things*, and *The School of Greatness.* I’m a certified life coach, and I’m passionate about guiding people to unlock their own truth and remove the mental blocks that hold them back from pursuing their purpose. Right now, I’m writing a weekly blog called *Life Beyond Bulimia*, which you can find on my Substack. **Before you sign up** The location of this group will be revealed once you RSVP. While the space is kindly provided to us for free, we are asked to contribute 1€ per person per meeting (including myself). There's an online version of this group, to see the dates and register, visit [this link. ](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1820313028269?aff=oddtdtcreator) To make sure everyone is heard, the meetings will be limited to 10 people at a time. Can’t wait to meet you! Until then, know that you are stronger than you think. 🌹 Annabelle

Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all types of work welcome)
Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all types of work welcome)
Hello! I’m organising a coworking + socialising session for all of us who are working on projects (e.g. our own creations, freelance or remote work) but don't feel like sitting alone at home. 🙂 To ensure that we have time for both socialising AND working, we will be using the so-called “Pomodoro” technique: **50 mins deep work** (silent), followed by **10 mins break** to socialise. And then repeat! You are welcome to join whatever your personal background is, and whatever project you are working on. I (the host) speak English and German, so either language is fine. ——————————————————- AGENDA: * **Short Intro** Tell us who you are and share something about what you will be working on today * **Pomodoro Session** \- 3x \(3h\) Each Pomodoro session consists of 50 mins focused “deep work” (no talking, no interruptions, **phones on silent mode**) -> then 10 mins break: a chance to share your progress with others -> Repeat * **15 mins Wrap Up** Celebrate what you achieved and get to know others 😊 ———— The location is **Espresso House near Checkpoint Charlie** (they have multiple outlets - so be sure to go to the correct one!) Wifi + power plugs are available - but best to bring a fully charged laptop, just in case 🙃 You **do not** have to pay anything. But since we are using the café space, it is common courtesy to buy at least one drink (coffee costs roughly **4 Euros**).
When our favorite artists and thinkers disappoint us
When our favorite artists and thinkers disappoint us
**Experimental Discussion** **Please note that we invite people through different channels, so there are more attendees than you can see here :)** Have you ever been disappointed in an artist, a thinker or a public figure who was actually important to you? In this discussion, we want to reflect on how we deal with moments when art or ideas that matter to us are suddenly poisoned by something we learn about the people who made them. This is a version of the old question „Can you separate the art from the artist?“. However, in this discussion I’d love for us to focus on our personal experience rather than debating how society should deal with art we don’t personally care about. In this event, we’ll use experimental methods to structure our conversation and encourage insightful exchange. Find out more in the FAQ below, or [send us an email](mailto:info@diskussions-experiment.de) if you have any questions! +++++++++ **FAQ** ***What can I expect from the event?*** Each event is a an experiment so it’s difficult to predict exactly how it will play out or feel. Our intention is always to create a space where conversations unfold more mindfully, relaxed, and insightful than they would in an unmoderated setting. To achieve this, we experiment with different rules, which may work better or worse at times :) In any case, it’s always worth sticking around for a while after the moderated part – our participants are lovely, and it’s a great additional opportunity to exchange ideas ***Who is this event for?*** This event is for anyone who is curious about the topic and/or the method. We aim to create spaces where people of all ages, identities, and backgrounds feel welcome. You don’t need to prepare anything, have strong opinions, or be extroverted to take part. ***Do I have to actively participate, or can I just listen?*** It’s perfectly fine to just listen. You can decide for yourself at any time how active you want to be and will not be asked to speak. However, there might be a name round as well as breakout groups, i.e. short segments in which all participants talk in groups of 2-3 people. You do not have to participate in these; you can use the time for a break instead. ***What’s the duration of the event?*** Each event lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. Feel welcome to stay a bit longer to finish the snacks, chat with other participants, and deepen the conversation. ***Is the venue wheelchair accessible?*** The venue is on the ground floor and accessible with wheelchairs. However, there are unfortunately no wheelchair-accessible bathrooms! ***What is "The Discussion Experiment"*** The Discussion Experiment is an ongoing series of events through which we continuously test methods that foster more meaningful and inspiring group conversations. Among other things, we experiment with techniques that slow down discussions, improve clarity, and support participants in expressing their ideas more effectively. Read more about it on the [main page.](https://diskussions-experiment.de/en/home/) This project is run by [Igor Don](http://www.linkedin.com/in/igor-don) and Maria Scholze.

Chitta Walks - Awareness in Motion
Chitta Walks - Awareness in Motion
Chitta Walks is for people whose days move fast, while the mind never fully lands. Thoughts keep looping even when nothing is urgent. The body moves, but attention is elsewhere. Over time, this disconnect drains clarity and ease. This walk is a simple reset. We meet in Berlin’s Tiergarten and walk at a gentle pace. Parts of the walk are in silence, with light guidance and a few short prompts. The walk itself is the practice, bringing body and mind back into the same moment. No apps. No performance. Just a clear space to slow down and notice what is happening. If you want to slow down without withdrawing from life, join a Chitta Walk. ✨ **What to expect (approx. 90 minutes):** * A short arrival and orientation * A guided silent walk (phones off, no conversation) * One concise science-based impulse on attention or stress * Optional reflection in pairs or small groups * A simple takeaway or experiment for daily life 🚶**Who this is for:** * Professionals, creatives, and people in transition. * People who feel mentally busy and want more clarity and balance. * Those curious about mindfulness, but grounded and practical. * Anyone comfortable with silence and gentle self observation. 🔔 **Practical notes:** * Duration: 60-90 minutes * Wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing * No prior experience needed * Group size is limited to keep the space quiet and focused 🧭 **Facilitator:** My name is Partha Sarathi, you can call me PS. I have lived in Berlin for over 12 years. With a background in physics and materials science, my interest in mindfulness grew through personal experience with stress and health challenges. I facilitate the space and structure of the walk, inviting shared exploration rather than instruction. 🤔 **Why Chitta Walks?** Chitta is a Sanskrit word referring to the mind or field of awareness, used here in a practical, non-religious sense. Chitta Walks is about noticing how the mind works by slowing down and walking together. Mindful walking makes thought patterns visible in real time, while moving and sensing in the world. The name points to a simple capacity: noticing what is happening in the mind without immediately trying to fix, judge, or optimize it. 🌿 **Possible effects:** A calmer nervous system. Clearer attention. A felt sense of being more present in your body. Subtle insights into how your mind reacts under everyday conditions. A quieter, more grounded way of moving through the city. **Come as you are. Walk. Notice. Leave with a little more space inside.**
