DevOps BCN Meetup - March 2026
DevOps BCN Meetup - March 2026
*** **Hello, fellow DevOps enthusiasts 🤓** On March 26, we'll meet again for a couple of insightful talks, hosted by **[Mews](https://developers.mews.com)**! 📍 **Location**: Cloudworks, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 613, 9th Floor. Check in at the ground floor entrance ***NOTE: Line-up update!!*** *** 📅 **Agenda** * **19:00 - 19:15** Welcome from the hosts * **19:15 - 20:00** DevOps in Space: Lessons from Low Earth Orbit * **20:00 - 20:45** Rats in my pipeline! The never-ending story of supply chain attacks * **20:45 - 22:30** Networking & Snacks *** 🎤 **Talks & Speakers** * **Title: DevOps in Space: Lessons from Low Earth Orbit** * **Speaker**: **David Jacovkis** * **Duration**: 30-45 mins * **About:** I started as a sysadmin when workloads ran on bare metal, and Devs were the enemies of Ops. The industry changed, and we changed with it, but at the end of the day, we're still the ones who receive an alert when things stop working. * **Abstract**: Remember when you knew all your servers by name and deployed changes with a single SSH command? Now imagine doing that when your link comes in 10-minute windows every few hours, and bandwidth is a precious commodity measured in kbps. Welcome to DevOps in Space. At Sateliot, our Infrastructure & Software Engineering team works at the intersection of aerospace, telecommunications and software. We build modern distributed systems and then send them to an environment where normal expectations -low latency, immediate feedback, up-to-date systems- simply don’t apply. In this talk I’ll give a high-level tour of the challenges that make space and telco different: intermittent and low-bandwidth connectivity, long feedback loops, constrained devices, and the cultural gaps between aerospace, telco and software teams. I'll also share some adaptations that allow us to apply some of the DevOps processes and tools that have become industry standards. *** * **Title: Rats in my pipeline! The never-ending story of supply chain attacks** * **Speaker**: Davinci Lisapaly * **Duration**: 30-45 mins * **About:** I'm a software engineer turned security engineer. I ensured product teams are shipping secure code without blocking them. Also, have a curse for incidents happening while walking my dog. * **Abstract:** In the day and age of micro services, every 10 lines of code have their own pipeline. Not only is it a challenge from a reliability perspective, but also within the security domain. Most of the code we ship isn't even ours. How do we make sure that the code is safe? How do we make sure we can trust the dependencies we import? How do we prevent RATs from slipping into our production environments and stealing all our cheesy secrets and tokens? This presentation will explain, through real-world supply chain incidents, what these rats are and how we can detect and prevent them from even entering our pipelines. *** 🏢 **About our host** **Mews** has been on a mission to build technology that puts people back at the heart of hospitality. Meet their R&D team on [LinkedIn](https://linkedin.com/company/mewsrnd) or directly on [developers.mews.com](https://developers.mews.com). *** 🔑 **Important Access Note:** Doors open at **18:45**. Please make sure to check in at the **ground floor entrance** upon arrival.

Participar 20€ 4. Constelar 100€

Coffee Club Special Edition: Morning Hike with *The Human Board*
Coffee Club Special Edition: Morning Hike with *The Human Board*
This isn't your usual coffee club. Inspired by how great it is to grab a coffee with a cool... *mentor,* you will: **WAIT WHAAAAATTTT?!?!!?** Welcome to a **very special — and second! —** edition of Coffee Club Barcelona where we host members of [The Human Board](https://www.humanboard.org/) in person for meaningful and free conversations about *your* career growth. **INVITATION: Saturday 28 March, 8:30am - 10:30am @ Plaça del Nen de la Rutlla, Parc del Guinardó, meet at the statue.** The Human Board is a very different kind of "board of advisors" where wonderful, talented people get the professional mentorship-driven guidance that they need about their careers. Accomplished, cool, and kind board members, who are at the height of their varied industries, listen well and give free guidance to those who apply for meetings. The Human Board is a global initiative that is almost two years old and has inspired career growth, pivots, exits, changes, applications, affirmations, and more. This special coffee club event coincides with a board member summit where we have core board members flying in from around the world to convene in Barcelona, so this is a very rare opportunity to enjoy a morning stroll and have a casual chat with truly the best people in business (leaders of some of the most renowned companies around the world) about your own career and what you'd like to do next - for free. *Those who joined us for the first Human Board edition back in October know just how special this is — and we're so excited to do it again.* Similar to the usual [Coffee Club Barcelona ](https://www.meetup.com/coffee-club-walk-talk-coffee-with-us-throughout-barcelona/)format we will: * Meet up with high-quality, high-vibe people, *THIS TIME AT **Plaça del Nen de la Rutlla, Parc del Guinardó*** * Bring a coffee to go (bring your own tumbler/thermos if you'd like) or grab one at the end with us — we will end our hike at a cafe. * Go for a long walk/hike with these people *OUR CONVERSATION STARTER FOR THIS EVENT IS "Tell me about your career?"* :) in nature * Chat about life for a couple hours while on the move and enjoying the sights and sounds of Barcelona * Experience that happy, buoyant feeling that comes from an engaging, pleasant chat * Enjoy some of the best views of Barcelona and nature * Continue on with the rest of your day If you'd like, please provide a reason / intention for attending so that Jenna and The Human Board can make this great for you. **INVITATION: Saturday 28 March, 8:30am - 10:30am @ Plaça del Nen de la Rutlla, Parc del Guinardó, meet at the statue.** We will leave the statue for our walk together at 8:40am. Please be prompt and on time, we will not wait and don't want to miss you. x Disclaimers: This meetup is free, but logically you must purchase your own coffee or beverage of your choice directly with the coffee shop that we're heading to after. The primary language of this meetup will be English, the organizer Jenna also speaks Spanish for any questions or needs. For accessibility please note that we will be hiking up and down steep inclines and uneven terrain to arrive at the mirador del nen de la rutlla. In the event of rain we will message to establish a new indoors location. If you have a well-behaved dog and would like to walk your dog at the same time you are encouraged to bring them. Note that there will be no presentations, we will not be doing any 'talking at,' we'll all be talking with each other, in separate 1:1, 2-3:1 conversations, while hiking around the mountain. Note that while this meetup is in English, this is \*not an English language learning group - this is a way for incredible strangers (both locals and expat locals, we're about 50/50) to get together, chat, and connect about real topics - this time, about your career. If you'd like, please provide a reason / intention for attending so that Jenna can make this great for you. Jenna will be actively hosting this space so don't be surprised if she sends you out for a walk with a new stranger, or changes it up a bit to encourage connection. Note that Jenna is intentionally keeping this group free. Be sure to join our **The Club** Whatsapp group after attending one of our Coffee Clubs to be connected with all of our people in Barcelona - in a no-spam, no-sales, genuinely just cool people meeting up - kind of way. If you'd like to support and/or team up with Jenna, buy her a coffee, check out her work at [holajenna.com,](http://holajenna.com,/) or find her at the next coffee club and say the code word: kaleidoscope. Who is shaping the experience of this group? Jenna is a people person, and the founder of AMARIMA - a hot experience design consultancy crafting deeply resonant and immersive experiences that fuse multi-sensorial design, narrative-based hospitality, and behavioral design. She and her team work with some of the world's top hotel brands, experience-driven companies, and individuals to "turn up the dial on life."

Confidence & Connection: Using Your Authentic Truth to Find Your People
Confidence & Connection: Using Your Authentic Truth to Find Your People
**Confidence & Connection: Using Your Authentic Truth to Find Your People** Confidence isn’t just about believing in yourself, it’s about knowing where you belong and who you can grow alongside. In this April Confidence Lab Happy Hour, we’ll explore how living in your authentic truth helps you find your people, build meaningful collaborations, and create spaces where vulnerability is met with respect rather than risk. Together, we’ll reflect on what it looks like to advocate for yourself with clarity and care, and how confidence deepens when it’s rooted in connection rather than comparison. Featured speaker **Lachandra Baker**, founder of **[LBB Edutainment](https://www.lbbedutainment.com/)** and author of *Your Own Biggest Cheerleader*, will share reflections on authenticity, psychological safety, and the power of community over individual achievement. Drawing from personal stories—including the significance of turning 53—Lachandra will invite us into a conversation about showing up fully, being seen, and choosing relationships that support who you truly are. Expect a warm, welcoming atmosphere with space for reflection, shared insight, and intentional connection—plus drinks, light bites, and the kind of conversations that remind you you’re not meant to do this alone. Come as you are. Leave feeling clearer about your voice, your people, and the confidence that grows when both are aligned. **What is Confidence Lab?** Confidence Lab is a monthly community experience for bold, thoughtful leaders building confidence from the inside out. Whether you’re launching a business, leading a team, navigating change, or simply striving to show up more fully—you belong here. Our work demands clarity, courage, and conviction—but the pace of daily life can erode our sense of self. Confidence Lab creates space to reflect, reconnect, and grow with others doing purpose-driven work. It’s designed for entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, creatives, corporate professionals, activists, and anyone ready to lead with authenticity and impact. ***Please note:*** *All are welcome! From Web Forms to Web Components - Burton Smith
From Web Forms to Web Components - Burton Smith
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 **Abstract** Web Forms gave .NET developers a powerful abstraction for building reusable UI controls long before design systems were a thing. Web Components finally bring that same idea to the browser natively. This session explores how the Web Forms mindset translates into Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, and HTML templates. We’ll examine how Web Components enable design systems that work across frameworks, how they differ from server‑driven controls, and why they’re becoming a foundational layer for modern UI. Whether you’re maintaining legacy apps or building greenfield projects, you’ll leave with a practical understanding of how to apply familiar patterns in a modern, standards‑based way. **YouTube Link** TBA

HTML5 Master Series (Class 01 of 04) (SPECIAL OFFERING)
HTML5 Master Series (Class 01 of 04) (SPECIAL OFFERING)
**PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT NOTES:** 1. The dates listed for this series are about 95% reliable. We are completing our 2026 schedule as we speak, so minor adjustments are still occurring. 2. Each class in this series has an attendance fee, though this first offering is free on a first-come, first-served basis. 3. Each class, from BOTH a sign-up and fee perspective, is a separate entity. **Introduction:** HTML5 is the foundational technology for modern web development, serving as the standard markup language for structuring and presenting content on the World Wide Web. Developed through a collaboration between the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG), HTML5 provides a robust system of elements (tags) that tell a browser how to display text, images, and multimedia in a clear and meaningful way. It works in concert with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for presentation and JavaScript for interactivity, forming the core technology stack for virtually all websites and many web applications today. One of the significant advancements of HTML5 is the introduction of powerful new features and elements designed to improve functionality and simplify development. Key additions include native multimedia support via the \ and \ tags, allowing developers to embed media without third-party plugins. It also offers new form controls for better user input, such as date and email types, and introduces web storage capabilities to store data offline for enhanced performance. These features streamline the process of building rich, interactive web experiences. A significant focus of HTML5 is enhanced semantics and better structural organization of content. New semantic elements like , , , , and \ provide meaningful structure to documents, which aids in search engine optimization (SEO) and improves accessibility for assistive technologies. These elements define different parts of a webpage (e.g., a header for the top, a nav for navigation links, a footer for the bottom), making the code more readable and understandable for both developers and machines. This emphasis on clear structure helps in creating more logical and maintainable websites. Developing websites in today's competitive environment requires taking advantage of every technique you can to get the maximum exposure possible. Our HTML5 class will not only show you what's new in the HTML specification, but also the best way to develop optimized web pages that get the attention your client and/or company requires. **The breakdown of the four-class series is as follows:** **Class 1: Introduction to Web Structure and Basic HTML5** This class introduces the core concepts of web development, the history of HTML, and the fundamental structure of an HTML5 document. * **Topics**: * **Web Architecture Overview**: How browsers, servers, and web pages interact. * **HTML Fundamentals**: Understanding elements, tags, and attributes. * **Basic Document Structure**: Using !DOCTYPE html, html, head, and body. * **Text Formatting**: Headings (h1 to h6), paragraphs (p), and text-level semantics (e.g., strong, em, br). * **Lists and Links**: Creating ordered (ol) and unordered (ul) lists, and linking between pages using anchor tags (a). * **Activity**: Students create a basic personal webpage containing text, a list of hobbies, and a link to an external website. **Class 2: Semantic HTML5 and Multimedia Integration** Class 2 focuses on modern HTML5 elements that provide meaning (semantics) to content, improving accessibility and search engine optimization. It also covers adding images and multimedia. * **Topics**: * **Semantic Elements**: Understanding and implementing elements like header, footer, nav, section, and article. * **Images**: Adding images using the img tag and attributes like src, alt, width, and height. * **Multimedia**: Embedding audio and video content using the audio and video tags. * **File and Folder Structure**: Best practices for organizing project files and managing file paths. * **Activity**: Students refactor their Class 1 project to use a proper semantic layout and add an image and a link to a video file. **Class 3: Forms and User Input** This session is dedicated to building interactive HTML5 forms, which are essential for capturing user data and input. * **Topics**: * **Form Basics**: Using the form element, action and method attributes. * **Input Types**: Exploring various input types (e.g., text, password, checkbox, radio, date, submit). * **Form Elements**: Utilizing label, textarea, select, option, and button. * **Client-side Validation**: Implementing HTML5 validation attributes like required, minlength, and pattern. * **Activity**: Students build a complete contact form with different input fields, radio buttons, and basic HTML5 validation. **Class 4: Introduction to CSS3 and Basic Styling** The final class introduces Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to style the HTML content and make the web pages visually appealing and accessible. * **Topics**: * **CSS Fundamentals**: The role of CSS, selectors, properties, and values. * **Integrating CSS**: Using inline, internal, and external style sheets. * **The Box Model**: Understanding margin, padding, border, and content for basic layout. * **Basic Styling**: Changing colors, fonts, and text alignment. * **Accessibility Basics**: Identifying principles of web design usability and accessibility, including ARIA labels. * **Activity**: Students apply an external CSS file to their Class 3 form project to style the layout, colors, and fonts, culminating in a well-structured and styled webpage.
