FULLY BOOKED - 7 Night Tour of Jordan
**Classic Jordan - Amman-Jerash-Dead Sea-Petra and Wadi Rum**
**March 8-15, 2026**
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan offers a heady mix of natural wonders and ancient history. Geographically situated at the heart of a region that has influenced history and culture for over 2000 years, Jordan has been influenced by Romans, Byzantines, Crusaders and Arabs. On this tour, we will experience the highlights of this beautiful country, including touring the spectacular and extensive Roman ruins of Jerash, visiting the lowest point on the earth’s surface, the Dead Sea for swimming and floating, exploring the fabled Rose Red City of Petra, luxury camping in the desert of Wadi Rum and a chance to enjoy the modern metropolis of the capital city Amman.
**Itinerary**
**Day One - Amman**
Arrivals in Amman. Transfers from airport to hotel.
Dinner at hotel. Most flights arrive late.
Overnight in Amman
**Day Two - Jerash, Salt and Amman**
Breakfast at hotel
Transfer to Jerash to visit some of the best preserved Greco-Roman ruins in the world. Jerash gives insight to what this region was like 2000 years ago and includes archways, theatres, public baths, a hippodrome, public fountains and an amphitheater.
We continue to the hillside town of Salt on the old main highway leading from Amman to Jerusalem. Salt was an Ottoman Empire trading hub and this is reflected in its Ottoman architecture.
Return to Amman for a city tour.
Overnight in Amman.
**Day Three - Northern Jordan, Pella (Gedara) and Wine Tasting**
Breakfast at hotel
Full day tour to northern Jordan including a visit to a vineyard to taste Jordanian wines.
We then head to Pella which was an ancient city that contains ruins from the Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Canaanite, Hellenistic and Islamic periods. A massive Bronze and Iron Age temple recently discovered in Pella is one of the best preserved temples from Old Testament times anywhere in the Holy Land.
Return to Amman.
**Day Four - Dead Sea**
Breakfast at hotel.
We travel to Al-Maghtas on the east bank of the Jordan River which is reputed to be the location of the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist.
We continue to the Dead Sea where we can enjoy swimming and floating in the dense salt water. This is the lowest point on earth and it overlooks the West Bank.
Dinner (included) and overnight at the Dead Sea
**Day Five - Madaba, Mt Nebo, Kerak and Petra**
Breakfast at hotel.
On the way to Petra, we will stop and visit Madaba with its Ottoman-style houses and Byzantine-era mosaics including a 6th century mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land which can be seen at St George’s Church. We will travel via the King’s Highway to the historic crusader castle of Kerak and Mt Nebo where Moses was reputedly shown the Holy Land.
Overnight and dinner (included) at hotel in Petra.
**Day Six - Petra and Wadi Rum**
Breakfast at the hotel
Early morning visit to the ancient, Red Rose City of Petra. One of the world’s most famous archaeological sites, Petra is a blend of Eastern traditional and Hellenistic architecture. It is one of the seven wonders of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Petra is the highlight of any trip to Jordan. We approach via the narrow Siq canyon until we suddenly reach the amazing Treasury. This ancient city is half-built and half-carved into the rock and surrounded by gorges and mountain passages. We will have time to explore this site at leisure. Those who wish can return by horseback or even camel.

EDGWARE ROAD.........So many secrets, So many stories
**EDGWARE ROAD**....Guided walking tour
So many secrets, so many stories
your guide is Barrie
Todays walk has evolved from me just staring at the tube map for inspiration, Edgware Road just jumped off the map as a possibility, but immediately I thought there’s only one thing people associate The Edgware Road with and that is The Arabic community that have made the road synonymous with their culture.
But once again my belief in a 'seek and ye shall find 'mentality
proved itself again. After scouring the internet, talking to locals and walking the street time and again I ended up with so much to talk about that I struggled with what I had to leave out without this tour lasting too long.
There's famous recording studios, A terrible terrorist attack, A lesser known antiques market and a tree that sent many to their deaths
and .......well not i'm not telling you any more
..come and see for your self !
Tour lasts well over two hours and costs £14 cash on the day
for any questions phone or text me
07860 911393 thanks Barrie
Bewl Water & the Titans of Saturn (16 miles)
It's Herschel's birthday (1792). Not William, who discovered Uranus & various moons around it and Saturn, or Caroline who found a few comets. John, continuing the family work completed mapping of the Southern Hemisphere sky, and named the discovered moons - in Saturn's case, after Titans in Greek mythology.
First stop along this Wealden walk will be his home at The Moor, a quintessential English village complete with green where cricket was played in Herschel's day, church, and the Eight Bells. The church houses a very unusual relic, delivered in 1944.
Next in our orbit is Bewl Water, the largest stretch of water in SE England, described as unlike anywhere else.
[Bewl Water - The Ultimate Destination for a Family Day Out](https://www.bewlwater.co.uk/)
Final stop is Ticehurst, with chocolate box cottages. Further details:
[Best places to live: Ticehurst, Sussex | Muddy Stilettos | Muddy Stilettos](https://sussex.muddystilettos.co.uk/best-places-to-live/sussex/best-places-to-live-ticehurst/)
And when taking photographs along the walk - who coined the word 'photography' which he helped develop? Yep, John Herschel.

IMPORTANT
Please bear in mind this is a free of charge, self-guided trip with a hobby group. It is not organized by a business nor any entity with commercial purposes.
Any trip details, travel advice, route planning, instructions and other content in our group merely represent our shared personal knowledge, research and suggestions as outdoor enthusiasts. As this is no business, there is no "product", "service" or "package" and also no "tour guide", "operator" or "walk leader".
Each participant is responsible for their own safety. Even if some of us are very experienced walking outdoors, nobody assumes responsibility for any kind of injury, damage or loss that may happen.
Despite this, we take extreme precautions and all trips we plan are very safe, fun, highly educational and popular. Our experienced members volunteer their time and effort to shape a pleasant and quality adventure for everyone :-)
By participating you acknowledge and agree with this disclaimer.
Here are our tips on staying safe during outdoor trips:
http://www.meetup.com/Free-Outdoor-Trips-From-London/about/
TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION, INSURANCE
Although we provide detailed suggestions, each participant is expected to arrange their own travel - this gives everyone the freedom and choice. Anyone interested in travel or outdoor insurance should also arrange this on their own. As mentioned above we always take extreme precautions, but some people may still feel safer if covered.
As most of our trips are confirmed or postponed very close to the event date - heavily depending on the weather forecasts - we advise not to buy this until the last minute. People getting tickets from the same station are encouraged to meet early on the day to benefit from discounts such as GroupSave.
