Maki-e is a traditional Japanese lacquer decoration technique. Techiniques are involved drawing pictures, patterns, and letters on the surface of lacquerware using lacquer, and then sprinkling and fixing metal powder, such as gold or silver, onto the surface. After gaining confidence in deep water, swimmers continue their journey with training to build their skill and stamina in the four basic strokes. We start with 100 metres front and back stroke and 12 metres front and back crawl. Students also practice underwater swimming for 3 metres, which is another essential water safety skill. As you progress, obtaining the ‘A’ diploma is a great way to measure the improvement in your swimming skills, strength and fitness. Bring your yoga mat or beach towel and your good spirits! As spring starts to open its beautiful wings, let's join our energies, move and relax together. All levels are welcome, beginners included. Short North Street Skates return Saturday, April 4 and we’re excited to get back rolling together. These weekly rollouts are a chance to move through the city as a group, build community, and create more visibility for skating and small-wheeled movement in Columbus. Details: Meet: 1160 N High St 9:30 AM meet 10:00 AM rollout All wheels welcome We’ll be skating through the Short North and surrounding areas at a steady, social pace. Routes will use a mix of streets and bike lanes, so comfort navigating the city is helpful, but you don’t need to be an expert. If you’ve been meaning to come out, this is a great place to start. Come solo or bring a friend!
