š§š¬ UNDERTONE (US EXCLUSIVE)
**š„ļø *It wants to be heard⦠so be afraid of the silence this Friday the 13th.***
**š Whatās up guys**! Watching a horror movie on **Friday the 13th** sounds pretty perfect to me. This new film premiered at the **Fantasia Film Festival** to positive reviews from critics, though of course weāll decide for ourselves if we agree. The movie has now been picked up by **A24** and is being released exclusively here in the U.S.
This Canadian horror film is written and directed by **Ian Tuason** in his directorial debut. It centres on a paranormal podcaster who becomes haunted after receiving mysterious audio recordings from a couple plagued by a supernatural entity. From what I understand, the film is a **sound-driven, slow-burn thriller**, leaning heavily into audio-based immersive horror and a strong sense of isolation.
If youāre a horror aficionado like myself, meet me at the **Look Dine-In Bar at 6:30 PM** for a quick catch-up before the film. The screening starts at **7:40 PM (Screen 11)** ā feel free to join me in **Row D9**, or grab whichever seat works best for you. After the film, weāll regroup and share our highlights (and maybe a few theories) for our **[Letterboxd](https://letterboxd.com/movieroadhouse)** **reflections**.
If youāre into this kind of **audio-driven horror sub-genre**, then this one might be right up your alley.
**See you guys there!**

Profs & Pints Northern Virginia: Celtic Mythology
[Profs and Pints Metro Northern Virginia](https://www.profsandpints.com/washingtondc) presents: **āCeltic Mythology,ā** an exploration of the beliefs of a people whose influence spread far beyond the British Isles, with Larissa āKatā Tracy, past president of the American Society of Irish Medieval Studies, former editor of its journal, *Eolas*, and visiting assistant teaching professor of English at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
[Advance tickets: $13.50 plus sales tax and processing fees. Available at [https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-celtic-myths](https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-celtic-myths) .
The Celts inhabited lands stretching from the British Isles to parts of France and the Holy Roman Empire. Their influence can be seen in the art of the Vikings, in the rich oral and literary traditions of the Irish, Welsh and Bretons, and in the modern renaissance of Celtic culture. But who exactly were they?
Get into the minds of the Celtic people by learning about their myths and beliefs with Larissa āKatā Tracy, a scholar of Old and Middle Irish and Middle Welsh language and literature and published translator of Old Irish texts whose dynamic and fascinating talks have earned a considerable following among Profs and Pints fans.
Dr. Tracy will delve into early medieval literary records that tell stories of the Tuatha de Danann, a godlike people who invaded Ireland and then were defeated themselves.
Sheāll offer a new perspective on faeries, banshees, and leprechauns by describing how the ancient Otherworldy people once believed to inhabit the western realms of Ireland were diminished or demonized into figures of popular folklore. Youāll learn how the ancient God of the Sun become one of the ālittle peopleā guarding cauldrons of gold and bestowing luck, how immortal beings of majestic stature shrank to small, winged creatures in the back of gardens, and how supernatural women associated with the āpeople of the moundā became screaming harbingers of death.
Weāll explore how medieval literary texts inspired later legends and became adapted into folklore. Youāll gain an understanding of how the medieval Catholic Churchās growing power led local people to reimagine their ancient gods and goddesses as Christian figures like Saint Bridget and Saint Patrick.
Youāll gain an appreciation of how the Celts gave rise to living traditions that survive in modern popular culture through the preservation of languages, storytelling and music enjoyed all over the world, and renewed interest in goddesses like Brid and celebrations like Samhain. (Doors: $17, or $15 with a student ID. Listed time is for doors. Talk starts 30 minutes later.)

Systemic Constellation Workshop with Randy Goldberg
**A systemic constellation (also called Family Constellations) is a therapeutic group experience designed to uncover and resolve hidden family dynamics that may be influencing a personās life.**
Rooted in the work of Bert Hellinger, this method operates on the principle that unresolved traumas and patterns from previous generations can manifest in an individualās relationships, health, or emotions.
During the workshop, a facilitator guides participants as they explore these systemic entanglements using representativesāother group members who stand in for family members or key components of their issue. Through this process, participants gain deep insights into their energy field systems, fostering healing and a sense of resolution.
These workshops provide a safe and supportive environment for self-discovery and transformation. Participants often experience profound emotional shifts as they witness and engage in the unfolding dynamics of their lives stories. By bringing unconscious loyalties, unresolved grief, or burdens to light, Family Constellation work helps individuals break free from limiting patterns, fostering greater harmony, self-acceptance, and a renewed sense of belonging. Whether attending as an active participant or as a representative, individuals often leave with a deeper understanding of their own lives and relationships.

5 USELESS FUN FACTS ABOUT ST.
PATRICKāS DAY (taken directly from https://www.history.com/.amp/news/st-patricks-day-facts)
1. The Real St. Patrick Was Born in Britain
Much of what is known about St. Patrick's life has been interwoven with folklore and legend. Historians generally believe that St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was born in Britain (not Ireland) near the end of the 4th century. At age 16 he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and sold as a slave to a Celtic priest in Northern Ireland. After toiling for six years as a shepherd, he escaped back to Britain. He eventually returned to Ireland as a Christian missionary.
1. There Were No Snakes Around for St. Patrick to Banish from Ireland
Among the legends associated with St. Patrick is that he stood atop an Irish hillside and banished snakes from Irelandāprompting all serpents to slither away into the sea. In fact, research suggests snakes never occupied the Emerald Isle in the first place. There are no signs of snakes in the countryās fossil record.
1. Leprechauns Are Likely Based on Celtic Fairies
Leprechaun is commonly associated with St. Patrickās Day. The original Irish name for these figures of folklore is ālobaircin,ā meaning āsmall-bodied fellow.ā Belief in leprechauns likely stems from Celtic belief in fairiesā tiny men and women who could use their magical powers to serve good or evil.
1. The Shamrock Was Considered a Sacred Plant
The shamrock, a three-leaf clover, has been associated with Ireland for centuries. It was called the āseamroyā by the Celts and was considered a sacred plant that symbolized the arrival of spring. According to legend, St. Patrick used the plant as a visual guide when explaining the Holy Trinity.
1. Corned Beef and Cabbage Was an American Innovation
The meal that became a St. Patrickās Day staple across the countryācorned beef and cabbageāwas an American innovation. While ham and cabbage were eaten in Ireland, corned beef offered a cheaper substitute for impoverished immigrants. Irish-Americans living in the slums of lower Manhattan in the late 19th century and early 20th, purchased leftover corned beef from ships returning from the tea trade in China. The Irish would boil the beef three timesāthe last time with cabbageāto remove some of the brine.
Read more about Irish-American traditions here.
ANOTHER USELESS BULLET TO SEE IF YOU READ THIS FAR: Damn, details must be important to you! Thatās sooooo not me, but I love you detailed f*cker!
See you at the FAF killer St. Patrickās day PARTY!

March 15 - Invasive Plant Removal at TRI
Does it feel like the world is ending? Stop doomscrolling and try some vigorous outdoor activity! We are NPS Weed Warriors and Arlington Regional Master Naturalists and you should volunteer with us on Sunday, March 15 to learn about nature and remove invasive plants from everyone's favorite urban island.
Meet us at the entrance to the bridge (on the parking lot side, look for the sign) at 10:00 and bring your garden gloves and loppers/pruners if you have them. If not, we can provide gloves and tools. Wear long sleeves and pants and don't forget a water bottle.
We will have tasks ranging from easy (cutting English ivy and honeysuckle vines from trees) to hard (sawing down bush honeysuckle).
Parking at TRI can be tight if it's a pretty day. When the parking lot is full, you can park in Rosslyn and take the trail down. If you can bike or walk or take public transit, that's wonderful.
We'll see you there!
Erica, Stephanie, and Heidi
