PhysEd Run Club - Episode 1
PhysEd Run Club is here!
The weather is getting better and it's time to get outside.
Run Club is your chance to actually learn how to run. No more stumbling down the street cursing and complaining about how much you knees hurt. You'll learn technique, how to pace, how to enjoy it (again).
This week we kick off our bi-weekly run club with a Tempo Run.
Weâll start together with a warm-up, then we run a 3K at a pace that feels challenging *but doable*âno pressure to be fast, just to give it a solid effort.
From your time, weâll figure out a pace that suits *you* and
youâll get a simple, personalized plan to help you build up your distance, feel more confident, and gradually get faster.
We'll meet in front of PhysEd - Rue des Veterinaires 47, 1070.
Everything kicks off at 18:00, led by super fast dude Stefan Kikyazov.
See you there!
**Philosophe, Géologue, fondateur de New Acropolis Belgium**

Nepal has a way of making the world feel biggerâand your worries smaller.

Travel to the beautiful lakeside city of Pokharaâgateway to the Annapurnas.
Day 3 â Start trekking: Nayapul â Ghandruk (1,950m)
A strong opening day through villages and mountain trails, finishing in the charming Gurung village of Ghandruk.

We drop to warmer altitudes and, time permitting, reward ourselves with a soak in the natural hot springs.
Day 10 â Jhinu Danda â Pokhara + celebration dinner
Return to Pokhara, shower like champions, and celebrate.
Day 11 â Pokhara â Kathmandu
Back to Kathmandu for the final night.
**Who should join**

You can train a bit beforehand (weekend hikes, stairs, cardio) together with the rest of the group
You want your travel to mean something beyond the photos
Whether youâre a seasoned hiker or a motivated first-time Himalayan trekker, youâll fit right in if you bring a good attitude and a willingness to be challenged.
**The purpose (and why it matters)**
This trek is also a fundraising challenge for Sense International, which supports deafblind children in Nepalâhelping them access communication, education, and support so they can thrive rather than be isolated.
Weâll be raising funds alongside the trek, and every step we take is dedicated to building a better future for children who face a far greater daily challenge than any mountain trail.
If youâre in: come for the Himalayas, the team spirit, and the chance to turn an unforgettable adventure into a concrete impact.
**Interested? **Hit Join and drop a comment with:
your hiking background (even if itâs âenthusiastic beginnerâ)
what excites you most about Nepal
whether youâre open to supporting the fundraising goal as part of the adventure

[Afterwork Session] Speakeasy

[Gameplay](https://youtu.be/hopiSHqQ3VI?is=y39pTo-rje7spM0S)
Speakeasy will transport you to the roaring 1920s during the era of Prohibition. Manhattan was under the firm control of Lucky Luciano, a prominent mobster. To strengthen his grip on the territory, he implemented a well-structured system. He divided Manhattan into different districts, each assigned to a specific mobster responsible for handling their "business" operations.
The ultimate goal is simple: accumulate the most money and become the most successful mobster in the city. Do you have what it takes to rise to the top of the speakeasy scene and take over Manhattan during Prohibition? It's time to grab your fedora and find out in Speakeasy.

Saturday Mornings @ East Market
Let's grab some coffee/food and share a morning chat! The East Market has an ample parking lot and outdoor and indoor seating.
Grab a cup of coffee from Winston's Coffee & Waffles or on your way to East Market and meet us on the second floor - table behind or east of the elevator.
Per what this group is about: "Everyone is welcome! International transplants to Columbus who want to improve language skills, Columbus residents who want to discuss international travel and culture, and anyone who enjoys getting together for good conversations."
Hike Blacklick Woods and The Canopy. Optional lunch after.
**Over time I'm hoping to organize a hike to all the Franklin County Metro Parks. This is the first one so if you're interested jump in!**
**We'll start with the Canopy Walk, a cool feature of this park. Climb 100 stairs to the top - or take the elevator if stairs aren't your thing. At the top there are a bunch of things to play on - a rope bridge, a fireman pole that we can slide down - and more! About fifteen minutes there and we'll head to the natural trail, Buttonbush, Maple and Beech Trail for 2.2 miles then do a 1.7 mile loop on the paved Greenway Trail. We'll be passing our cars as we transition if you only want to do the first loop, or the second loop. Pace of around 3.5 mph but no one left behind.**
**If there is an interest we can grab lunch nearby afterward at Prost Beer and Wine Cafe. Www.prostcafe.com**
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for May is "Ink"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
Hike Pickerington Ponds
We'll hike 3.4 miles on the Killdeer and Yellowlegs Trails - both out and back gravel trails. If we want more mileage we can repeat an out and back. Pace of around 3.5 mph, no one left behind and those who want to go faster sure can!
As always optional lunch after.
This is the second Metro Park in the lineup for me - with 21 to go (plus more are being added).
Pot Luck in the Park!
Inspired by our successful events like "Saturday Mornings @ East Market" and other "Pot Luck in the Park" lunches, this gathering promises to be a blend of fun conversations, language exchange, and cultural insights, all while sharing wonderful foods with each other.
**Please bring a dish to share and anything you would like to drink.**
We will provide plates, plastic silverware and napkins.
So, come hungry and ready to chat!
