**The address is:**
MIR Concept Coffee Store
Rue Gray 4A
1040 Etterbeek
***
1. The **prime time** of the event is **10:30 - 12:30**. That's when most people will be there.
2. When you enter the gallery, it's either on the right-hand side or left-hand side of its hallway, depending which entrance you take.
3. If you intend **to join past 12:00** (high noon), then there is no need to register. Just come and join!
4. **DON'T forget to cancel** if you can't join!
5. **Please, be respectful towards each other during the event. (And after ;))**
**As always, feel free to follow us on INSTAGRAM!**
[https://instagram.com/weekendmorningcoffee?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==](https://instagram.com/weekendmorningcoffee?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==)
**THE STRUCTURE of THE EVENT:**
* I will post the event on Saturday/Sunday evening for the following Saturday.
* I send out a reminder to everyone on Friday.
* There is sometimes a waiting list.
* In case RSVP is closed (once there are 10-15 people on the waiting list), I might reopen it on Friday, depending on the number of cancellations in the meantime.
* **For everyone on the waiting,** please check your status and messages on Friday evening the latest. I message everyone on the waiting list on Friday.
* **Please, move to "not going" AS SOON AS you know that you can't come anymore, that includes everyone who is on the waiting list.**
**IMPORTANT:**
* **Please, be respectful towards each other during the event. (And after ;))**
* When you register yourself, be careful not to register accidentally a +1 guest (unless you bring a guest). It happens very often.
* If you have any questions then, message me.
***
**A MESSAGE FOR NEWCOMERS:**
*In the three years of hosting this coffee group, I have met many people who struggle with anxieties when coming to an event for the first time. Sometimes, it took them more than one attempt before being able to join.*
*Occasionally, people reach out to me before the event, and I have always been grateful for that as it offers the opportunity to communicate with each other and to find the best and most gentle way for that person to join the group.*
*I would like to encourage everyone who struggles with this to contact me before. It would really be too bad if you can't join us, as it mostly gets better the second or third time you come.*
*In addition to that, if you arrive and notice any signs of nervousness or fear, you can always let me know right then.*
**THANK YOU AND SEE YOU ALL ON Saturday!**
Meditative Silent Walk
Join Us for a Meditative Forest Walk
We warmly invite you to a silent, meditative walk through the forest, where we will move together in stillness for about one hour. This gentle practice helps you reconnect with nature, slow down the mind, and notice the subtle detailsโboth around you and within you. By walking silently, we create space for calm, clarity, and unexpected insights.
Details:
Date & Time: Saturday 6 June
Meeting Point: Herrmann Debroux Metro (exit straight ahead after leaving the platform)
Start Time: We begin walking at 16:10 sharp, so please arrive on time if you plan to join.
Practical Note:
Please wear weather-proof walking shoes, as the forest paths can get a bit muddy when rainy.
After the walk, you are warmly welcome to join for a drink at Rouge Cloรฎtre. Itโs a cosy, creative space to end the evening together if you feel like staying on.
If you're in the mood for a quiet inward journey, we would be delighted to walk with you this Friday.
For any questions or to let me know youโre coming, feel free to contact me at 0474 60 83 70.
Looking forward to sharing this peaceful moment with you.

What's up Friends! ๐
โฉโฉReady for some bouldering fun? Boulder-what? ๐ค Itโs climbing (FR: escalade, le bloc) up to 4.5m high without ropesโand in my case, without much hope! ๐โจ
Itโs a super fun indoor activity, but be warned: it does require a certain level of physical fitness and/or skill. Most importantly, though, it requires awesome companyโwhich weโve got! ๐โจโจ
The Idea:
๐ Meeting Point: For those arriving at 18:00, weโll meet at the cafeteria (next to the billiards table).
Feel free to start earlier or laterโjust drop me a message or write in the group chat so we can meet up.
๐ช Stay & climb as long as you want - venue closes at midnight!
๐ฅค Recharge: If youโve had enough climbing for the day (we usually do this after 2 hours of climbing), we may head back to the cafeteria (or to the rooftop if it's sunny๐ค๏ธ) for snacks, drinks & games. Cafeteria closes at 22:00.

Hermann Debroux - Hippodrome de Boitsfort
Hi everyone,
Let's meet for a classic, social short hike (9 km) from Herrmann-Debroux to the Hippodrome, with a coffee pause at the beautiful Rouge-Cloister.
Just bring some snacks, water, and running or hiking shoesโnothing special. **Exit points are available after 5 km at Watermael-Boitsfort, and at the Hippodrome at the end. Many trams and buses can take you back to Herrmann-Debroux or elsewhere.**
At the end, we can have a drink at the Hippodrome. I just need to check if the O2 Terrace allows just drinks, or if the bar at the Golf Club is open.
It is not a LOOP
Register only if you are reasonably motivated to participate. As a matter of courtesy towards the people on the waiting list, if you are unable to come, cancel as soon as possible.

From Comblain-la-Tour to Esneux (ca 26 km)
The train situation looks much better this weekend, so let's go for a gorgeous hike along the Ourte Valley. We start in Complain-la-Tour and slowly but steadily climb out of the river valley towards the plateau. We will walk up and down through a varied landscape with forests and open fields, pass the mighty castle of Anthisnes before finally starting the descend to Esneux, our final destination. There we will find plenty of offers for a final drink and other (sweet ;-) temptations.
The number of participants is limited to 20, so please manage your registration responsibly: only sign up if you really intend to come and cancel as soon as you know you canโt (this also goes for people on the waiting list!).
We will try to keep somewhere close to an average speed of 4.5 to 5 km/h. We will walk both on paved and unpaved roads. Iโve not tested this track beforehand, so itโs possible that there are some mistakes in the planning (i.e. it may become longer ;-).
โโYou can find the gpx track here:
kommot: https://www.komoot.com/de-de/tour/3007376224?share_token=aips9XNt1tZ8Xj7XkoRGEMLvdKj1Uv8uizqb6xLBq9ERt6QBt9&ref=wtd&t_s=referral&t_cid=route_share&t_ref_username=472114460035
wiciloc: https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/comblain-la-tour-esneux-267596124
โโMeeting point:
We meet at 8.45 in Bruxelles Central train station. Our train (IC 507 to Eupen) leaves from platform 3 at 9.01. We change in Liege and arrive in Comblain-la-Tour at 10.47.
โโ Train ticket:
14.90โฌ (9.00โฌ with train+) each way
โโ Trains back to Brussels:
One per hour via Liege, XX.27 on even hours and XX.40 on uneven hours.
โโ Specifics:
Distance: \~ 26 km
Elevation gain: around 400m
Net walking time: \~ 6h
Weather forecast: Quite cool, but dry. Some sun if we are lucky.
In the unlikely case of too bad weather, I may cancel a hike, even few hours before the event. If this must happen, I will of course update the Meetup website and send out an email to those registered. So it is important to have access to either the Meetup.com website and/or your emails.
โโ What to bring:
* Comfortable hiking clothes
* Waterproof, comfortable hiking shoes
* sufficient water + food for the breaks
* Compeed for blisters
* Small change for the drink (cafes in the countryside do not necessarily take cards!)
โโ Basic rules:
Please RSVP only if you really intend to come. And if your plans change, update your RSVP asap, even hours before the walk. This is basic courtesy towards others. Repeated late cancellations are not well considered (at all). No-shows are even worse.
Do not show up for a hike unless you are on the โgoingโ list.
โโ Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability:
You are responsible for yourself and should be fit enough if you want to take part. As the participation in the events is strictly voluntary and you freely choose to join, it is the responsibility of individuals participating to ensure that they are fit enough and have adequate coverage to protect themselves. By signing up for this event, you agree to release the organisers from any responsibility and liability.
Schendelbeke-Geraardsbergen (25km)
Karin's hike for Sunday has a long waitlist. Therefore, I am proposing an alternative hike in the area of Geraardsbergen.
We will start in Schendelbeke, which is a small railway station with immediate access to some nature trails. On the way we will first walk through the reserve "De Gavers", followed by multiple small forests. We also pass by two famous hills of the Tour of Flanders bike race, namely the "Bosberg" and the "Muur". In general the track goes over rolling hills with some great views on the way. We finish our hike in Geraardsbergen with a beer, or a coffee and a local cake called "Mattentaart".
Important:
As the number of participants is limited, it is important that you manage your registration responsibly: only sign up if you really intend to come and cancel as soon as you know you canโt (this also goes for people on the waiting list!). We will try to keep close to an average speed of about 5 km/h. We will walk mainly on unpaved roads. Iโve not tested this track beforehand, so itโs possible that there are some mistakes in the planning.
โโYou can find the track here:
https://loc.wiki/t/267639656?wa=sc
โโMeeting point:
We meet at the railway station of Schendelbeke at 10h47. If you start from Brussels-Central, you should take train IC 3632 direction Aalst & De Panne at 9h45. In Denderleeuw you have 14 minutes to change to train S3 2260 direction Geraardsbergen. I live in Ghent, so I will only see you on this second train. Let's try to meet in the first car of the train.
โโ Train tickets:
Return ticket to Geraardsbergen should be ok or two separate tickets Brussels-Schendelbeke and Geraardsbergen-Brussels.
โโ Back to Brussels:
In Geraardsbergen there are two trains per hour to get back to Brussels (with a change in Denderleeuw or Edingen).
โโ Specifics:
Distance: ca 25km
Elevation gain: 250m
Net walking time: ca 5-6h
Weather forecast: Looks ok for the moment.
In the unlikely case of too bad weather, we may cancel a hike, even few hours before the event. If this must happen, we will of course update the Meetup website and send out an email to those registered. So it is important to have access to either the meetup website or your emails.
โโ What to bring:
* Comfortable hiking clothes &shoes
* rain gear (just in case)
* water + food for the breaks
* sun cream
* Compeed for blisters
* some small money for drinks
โโ Basic rules:
Please RSVP only if you really intend to come. And if your plans change, update your RSVP asap, even hours before the walk. This is basic courtesy towards others. Repeated late cancellations are not well considered (at all). No-shows are even worse.
Do not show up for a hike unless you are on the โgoingโ list. People with the "go-with-the-flow" label are only moved from the waitlist 24 hours before the hike. I give you the label "go-with-the-flow" if you did not show up in one of my hikes before, or if you canceled for one of these hikes less than 24 hours in advance without a good reason.
Moreover, the organisers aren't tour operators, so they don't feel obliged to answer to every text message or email!

UNO #477
Let's continue the tradition and play UNO, everybody is welcome :)
If you're on the waitlist please check your messages, especially on Sunday. If people drop off last minute I tend to message people on the waitlist to see who can come.
We'll be playing at the lobby of Radisson RED, Brussels. The address of the hotel is:
Rue d'Idalie 35, 1050 Bruxelles
My number is 0471 45 55 02. Feel free to call if you cannot solve a physics question, cannot find the place or simply need a hug.
I have quickly written a set of rules on how we play. It is assumed that the reader has a basic concept of the game.
***
Setup:
* Each player starts with 6 or 7 cards each (depending on total number of players)
* A card is shown in play in the middle of everyone, this is known as the top card.
Goal:
* The goal of the game for each player is to get rid of all cards in your hand
Rules:
* Whenever you go from two cards to one card, you have to say "UNO".
* Each player takes his turn one by one, initially going in the clock-wise direction
* A card may be played if it matches the same colour or same number or same type as the top card in play
* The two black cards (Draw 4 and Wild) can be played regardless of the top card in play.
* Interruption rule: You may interrupt the general flow of the game (clockwise or counter-clockwise) if you have the EXACT same card as the top card in play. If you manage to play the card prior to the person whose turn it's supposed to be, then the game continues on from you in the same direction it was previously. (Unless the reverse card was interrupted, then the direction changes).
* Draw2 or Draw4 cards can be played in accordance to the interruption rule. The following person after the interrupt has to take the accumulated number of cards. If however, cards have already been drawn AND seen by the person who was supposed to take the cards, then only the remainder of cards has to be drawn.
* Once someone has no cards remaining in his hand, play stops and we start counting points.
Points:
* Number cards have the face value as the number of points. i.e. number 6 is worth 6 points, number 0 is worth 0 points, number 4 is worth 4 points.
* Skip, reverse and Draw2 are worth 20 points each
* Wild and draw4 are worth 50 points each

Book summary:
On a hot day in Bethlehem, a twelve-year-old Palestinian-American girl is yelled at by a group of men outside the Church of the Nativity. She has exposed her legs in a biblical city, an act they deem forbidden, and their judgement will echo on through her adolescence. When our narrator finally admits to her mother that she is queer, her mother's response only intensifies a sense of shame: 'You exist too much,' she tells her daughter. Told in vignettes that flash between the U.S. and the Middle East--from New York to Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine--Zaina Arafat's debut novel traces her protagonist's progress from blushing teen to sought-after DJ and aspiring writer.
