Park Club at the Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve
Park Club at the Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve
Welcome to the first Park Club of 2026! Drake Khazal has recommended Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve in Loudon County, saying "It's not a very demanding hike because it's mostly flat land, so it's a nice leisurely stroll. Also lots of water and open meadow, when I was there lots of wild flowers but since we'll be heading there in mid march and it'll still be a bit cold they may only just be starting to pop up out of the soil. Also it's a nature preserve so lots of wildlife we may not get a chance to see elsewhere in NoVa, assorted birds and even some larger fauna (if we're lucky but they're very shy)" As in the past, we'll be meeting up and taking a look around, walking a trail, and enjoying nature and conversation. A nice chill activity for anyone to join whether you are a member of CCAN, a passionate environmentalist, or simply a person who loves nature. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Writing in Nature
Writing in Nature
***Registration required. -*** [Writing in Nature - Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy](https://loudounwildlife.org/event/writing-in-nature-march/) Join Nancy Morgan, Director Emeritus, Georgetown Lombardi Arts and Humanities Program, for this monthly workshop, presented by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy, to enjoy the combined health benefits of time spent in nature and writing thoughts and feelings. Writing is often considered a solo, reflective practice, but writing in the company of others can be a supportive, community building activity that encourages regular practice. Each session is a stand-alone event – come when you are able. Registration for each session is open through the morning of the workshop.
Exploring Ethiopian Culture Through Cuisine at Enatye
Exploring Ethiopian Culture Through Cuisine at Enatye
Food is one of the most meaningful ways to experience culture — and Ethiopian cuisine is rooted in community, tradition, and bold, layered flavors. Join the Global Food & Culture group as we gather at Enatye Ethiopian Restaurant to explore traditional dishes served on injera. If you’re open to sharing, we can create a few shared platters so everyone can sample a variety of dishes — but individual ordering is perfectly fine too. Enatye is a small restaurant and does not make reservations so they recommended the 2-4 pm time frame. We’re initially capping this at 12 guests to keep the experience comfortable and conversational. If interest is strong and the restaurant can accommodate, we may open additional spots. The good news is that they will bill each of us separately! Come hungry. Come curious. And come ready to connect around the table.
🌱 Woodland & Water Resonance: A Forest Therapy & Sound Bath Walk 🌊
🌱 Woodland & Water Resonance: A Forest Therapy & Sound Bath Walk 🌊
**🪷 COST:** You must register with this link to attend- [Register Here!](https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/woodland-and-water-resonance-a-forest-therapy-and-sound-bath-walk) **🌿 Description:** Early March, by the water, carries a different kind of awakening — **softer, reflective, spacious.** 🌊 Nestled around a 350-acre reservoir, Beaverdam Park offers wooded paths, natural-surface trails, and peaceful lake views. Forest and water meet here, creating the perfect setting to slow down and listen. ✨ We’ll begin with a **gentle, guided forest therapy walk** through the trees, pausing along the way to notice the stillness of the reservoir and the subtle signs of early spring. After enjoying a snack & sipping foraged tisane/tea while sitting near the water, we’ll settle in for an **immersive outdoor sound bath**. 🎶 Singing bowls and resonant instruments will blend with the soft lapping of water, breeze through branches, and birdsong overhead. The lake amplifies and carries sound in a uniquely soothing way — supporting nervous system reset, emotional clarity, and deep restoration. We’ll close with a silent walk back along the trail, taking in the serenity of forest and water. 🌿 **A morning of reflection, resonance, and renewal.** **🥾 What we'll do:** We will walk \~2 miles, depending on timing and the desires of the group. This is an out and back hike with minimal elevation gain or loss. **👋🏼 Meeting point:** Meet at 9:50am in the parking lot. We will start at 10am. **🚙 Parking:** Park by the National Recreation and Park Association building adjacent to Brambleton Community Park West.
