TOPHAT's Birroteca and Gardiner Ceramic Museum - Free Wednesday nights
Join Lawrence, your top hatted host, for an evening of Beer, Bruschetta and Not your Grandma's china! What!?! We will warm-up at Birroteca, in the downstairs of Eataly for a flight of Indie Ale House craft beer, a tasty bruschetta or something light from their menu. https://www.eataly.ca/news/birroteca-by-indie-ale-house/ 55 Bloor St W Concourse Level, Toronto, ON M4W 1A6 At 7 pmish, we will surface and make our way to the Gardiner Ceramic Museum. This recently renovated location is chalk full of ceramic art, something I thought it would not be my cup of tea (heh-heh). I've been a few times and was pleasantly surprised. https://www.gardinermuseum.on.ca/ 111 Queens Park 3rd floor, Toronto, ON M5S 2C7

Welcome! Join us at the North York Centre to colour and chat. You can bring your own colouring books and colouring pencils. There’s a Dollarama across the street to buy them. If you’re coming empty-handed, no worries, you can use ours for $2 cash. You can do other art related projects such as sketching, crocheting, etc. As long as you bring your own materials :) We’re meeting at the North York Centre food court by 5:55pm, at the long table in front of the subway. Please contact me if you’re coming late, have trouble finding the place, or have any other questions. Hope to see you soon:) P.S. The group will grab some food after the event in a nearby area and socialize. It is totally optional.

Lessons from Implementing MCP in Formulize (In-person, Toronto)
Lessons from Implementing MCP in Formulize (In-person, Toronto)
Join us on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, at 6:30 PM for a session presented by **Julian Egelstaff** on implementing a full MCP server into a LAMP stack web application. **Event Details:** * Location: CSI Spadina - 192 Spadina Ave., Toronto, ON M5T 2C2. Viola Desmond room on the 3rd floor * Date and Time: January 21, 2026, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM * Topic: Lessons from Implementing MCP in Formulize. **Location Note:** This meeting will be held in the Viola Desmond room on the 3rd floor. Access will be via the door to the stairs, not the usual main entrance to the basement area. We will send the building access code on the morning of the meetup, via email and chat. **Session Topic:** This session will be a retrospective and demo of how a full MCP server was added to Formulize ([https://formulize.org](https://formulize.org)). Formulize is 20+ year old open source project, and a web-based data management platform that both technical and non-technical people can use to rapidly create data-driven applications, and rapidly change them as requirements and needs evolve. Formulize is uniquely suited to AI, since all the business logic of every application is exposed through configuration which the AI can read via MCP tools. *In this session we’ll look at:* * The architectural requirements that MCP imposed * The lessons learned in getting it working * How to play nice with the AI for best results * Future ideas for how MCP and AI could be even more integrated into people’s workflows **Your Voice Matters:** Got ideas for future presentations or want to be a speaker? Reach out to Pierre or Aidan – we're always looking for speakers and new insights! **Drinks & Discussion:** Stay after the presentation for drinks and more Drupal talk at[ Hotel Ocho](https://maps.app.goo.gl/4HF9ooz2Ki9B8o577) **Special Thanks to our Sponsor:** A big shoutout to[ Kalamuna](https://www.kalamuna.com) for providing the CSI space for our meetup. Looking forward to seeing old friends and new faces alike. Let's make this a great meetup for Toronto's Drupal community, going strong since 2006!

O Pioneers! by Willa Cather
O Pioneers! by Willa Cather
For January, we'll read O Pioneers! by Willa Cather 224 pages First published in 1913 About the book: *O Pioneers!* (1913) was Willa Cather's first great novel, and to many it remains her unchallenged masterpiece. No other work of fiction so faithfully conveys both the sharp physical realities and the mythic sweep of the transformation of the American frontier—and the transformation of the people who settled it. Cather's heroine is Alexandra Bergson, who arrives on the wind-blasted prairie of Hanover, Nebraska, as a girl and grows up to make it a prosperous farm. But this archetypal success story is darkened by loss, and Alexandra's devotion to the land may come at the cost of love itself. At once a sophisticated pastoral and a prototype for later feminist novels, *O Pioneers!* is a work in which triumph is inextricably enmeshed with tragedy, a story of people who do not claim a land so much as they submit to it and, in the process, become greater than they were.
